Has anyone made a cryptographic Mario Maker stage that can't be beaten in practice even if can be inspected fully?

4:07 AM
@xnor I believe someone has designed on that randomizes the combination per run but the randomization takes up a lot of space and only allows for a simple resulting lock

@Pavel Too bad. How does the randomness in the game work?
Like, is it based on some seed where you start the level, or your inputs, or both?

RNG in MM is I believe mostly done with shells since those might go left or right unpredictably in certain conditions but IDK if it's based on the player or if it's actually random

Ceave has a video on that I'm pretty sure. In essence, the seed is based on the actions you make, so for "better" randomness you need to make the player do a complex not-very-repeatable series of actions before entering the subworld where randomness matters.

Ooooh I love this new Steam UI

4:01 PM
yeah, I've opted into the beta when it first started and I've been really enjoying the new library

I like it, but, if you have steam sharing turned on, it shows every game from the shared libraries with no way to hide them
The old way would let you show just your games

ah, didn't realise that. that's a little annoying.

I preferred the old steam library more. Way less visually noisy

probably depends a lot on how you're using your Steam library. several things I do frequently have become a lot easier.
Also Steam had a super annoying bug for me where all the news updates on a game would open in my default browser instead of in steam, which means I wouldn't be logged in and couldn't vote or comment on them. That seems to have fixed itself with the new modal view for news posts.
