6:10 AM
Hoping on Factorio if anyone else wants to

6 hours later…
12:16 PM
Yo nuclear is OP
I was expecting to have to be setting up massive arrays of reactors and different parts and no boom you drop in a single reactor and our electricity production triples

2 hours later…
1:55 PM
@Pavel ...is that not how it is in vanilla Factorio too?

2:09 PM
@El'endiaStarman I don't think any of our mods affect nuclear at all
I found this interesting:

@DJMcMayhem Ah, if so, I didn't realize that.
And if so, that'd imply that @Pavel never got to nuclear in vanilla Factorio?

I suppose it would

3:03 PM
@DJMcMayhem Yeah, that was fun to watch! :D
I've had a lot of similar experiences with my wife, though probably not quite as extreme as that.

5 hours later…
8:12 PM
@El'endiaStarman I've just had massive solar arrays
Even as I kept progressing, just the mere fact that you need to pipe in fluids to the mining drills already terrified me enough

8:24 PM
@Pavel baha. In my runthrough above, in order to produce red science I had to pipe steam to my mining drills
I say this, because I was the same way for the longest time
I avoided the entire Nuclear complexity, because Solar arrays is much more friendly to automate
It's easier to setup, easier to mass-produce, easier to mass-place

And once it's setup it works forever without running it out of resources

But nuclear is way more fun

Oh yeah, I realize that now

@DJMcMayhem yeah. The problem with nuclear lies with Solar

8:27 PM
Nuclear seems a lot more complicated than it actually is because once you start looking it up even a little bit you discover things like enrichment that can actually be added in way later but that add to the perceived difficulty

Aka, there's a reason people move from steam engines: You realize you're attracting all of the biters, so you feel the pressure to move away
but there's no external forces pressuring you to move from solar.

@NathanMerrill Except how much space you need for solar and how much you have to make once your base gets bigger

yeah, but the incremental nature of solar mitigates that

Blueprint a large setup, go way far out, bots

Ooooh...I'd be interested in a challenge: Science per minute per factory size
Allowing for resources to be placed anywhere you want them

8:33 PM
@NathanMerrill Total area?

I was going to share a screenshot of my megabases nuclear setup, but it doesn't fit on the screen lol
That's 2/5th of it
And that's the uranium processing. I have a fair bit stockpiled (100k dark uranium lol)
