New update is looking great, but I still haven't played it myself because I've been trying to get a screenshot of my forge before the previous update deletes 250 of those cells, and I haven't felt like going down to 0bc for it yet

Which new update? The last one I've gotten is Fear the Rampager cause console is slow to update

I've been having my butt kicked by 4BC recently

I also just haven't played much lately anyhow, and I was regularly able to make it to clock tower before I started going for the screenshot, but for some reason I haven't been able to make it past the Concierge since then

That aside my biggest problem is probably just that I keep going through stilt village with a shield

I'm used to stilt village from 0bc with tactics builds but it's not working with a shield

I'm really not a fan of shields (except for Assault Shield which is 👌)

So the general pattern is I barely survive stilt village then die in clock tower

I prefer glass Cannon tactics

Makes sense

Main reason I started using shields is that I couldn't make it out of PQ alive without them because of knife throwers, but there's no reason I couldn't just build into tactics while still using a shield for early levels

Apparently survival scalings don't really matter that much for most shields anyhow

Ugh, PQ is the worst on anything but 0BC

I'll frequently die 4-5 times in a row before I make it out of there on 4BC

Yeah, you don't get the opportunity to have a good build but it isn't any easier for it once you have anything more than zombies and undead archers

I can survive it on 1bc pretty reliably with a shield but I usually still take some damage

If you're struggling to make progress, the double boy's axe is fantastic (two boys axes, rebind them to the same key)

That's what got me through 2-3BC

I think I got the blueprint for that but haven't unlocked it yet, so I'll give it a try

Getting the blueprint is definitely hardest part, ugh.

@NathanMerrill After that fun run the other day, I decided to go back and try to get the first ascension with Defect. Had a really great run with a power build (two Amplify+, Creative AI+, Buffer+, a ton of lightning generation plus Thunder Strike), but then died very quickly to the Heart, because I just didn't draw the Buffer quickly enough.

Did a few more Defect runs afterwards, but I just have no clue how to play this class until I'm lucky enough to pick up a really strong combo in act 1.

Maybe I should try a Frost build some time

To me, there are two core builds: Orbs and Powers

Nothing else works

For an Orb build, you need Focus. For Powers, you need a bunch of good powers.

There are definitely some squeak-by decks I can think of (frost + 0-cost cards, dark orb deck)

but they don't have a chance against the heart
