@NathanMerrill So some pairs of lines are special "multi lines". In those, if there's a hint in one line, it's guaranteed not to touch any squares in the other line. And some hints span both lines, in which case they refer to one contiguous block of any shape which has at least one square in each line.

Also there is no guarantee about the relative order of single-line hints between these pairs of lines.
Probably best to just look at an example:
in that 4/(3 3)/4 multi-column, you know that the single-line 3s will be between the two blocks of four, but you don't know which 3 comes first.
(Also, the highlighted square in that screenshot is wrong, because of the single-line 1 on the next row.)

Picross!
God that game frustrates me so much

@MartinEnder 4/(3 2)/4, rather?

@MartinEnder of any shape? that's crazy
That does make things way more complicated
So, looking at the top two lines, you basically have 4 squares of freedom: you have 30 total squares. You subtract 10 and 8, and then 6 for the 3 clue plus an additional 2 for whitespace
30 - 10 - 8 - 6 - 2 = 4

@J.Sallé wait what
Do I just never happen to pay the hard ones
Oh also golfing Assembly Line (Android app) is hard
I just need a bit more space to be able to make the final product in three factory floors, but I can't manage to free up that space.

@ASCII-only yeah the harder levels are gigantic and convoluted

Any good place to find those?
