Q: How to shrink the close vote review queue

Noah SnyderI've been experimenting today with the review features. The close vote review queue is in bad shape, as it contains over 100 items. This makes it not terribly useful because most of the questions that appear are old. It would be much more useful if there were fewer questions on it. In particu...

> [Update]: As of January 2019, the close vote review queue is normally about 300 now. Is it possible that folks who have access to the review queues get their 1k reviews in for the Steward badge, and then stop reviewing? Perhaps we could add more badges at higher levels of reviews?
The Close Votes review queue is stubbornly large, sitting over 170 most of the time that I've noticed lately. Perhaps we could increase the number of reviews that people could do on this queue? I'm only allowed 20 reviews per day. — Adrian Keister Jul 18 '18 at 15:59
@AdrianKeister You have touched a few different topics there.
Increasing the number of allowed daily reviews have been discussed in the past, for example: Maximum Number of Closed Votes Queue Limit
I don't think it is likely to change. There is one exception:
If it ever gets over 1000, we'll get 40 reviews per day. — Glorfindel Nov 18 '17 at 10:01
Of course, it is possible to close votes also outside of the review - if you use all your daily reviews. You can find the posts which are being reviewed in the review history (if you have sufficient reputation): math.stackexchange.com/review/close/history And another place where to look for posts which might need closing is in the moderation tools: math.stackexchange.com/tools

Well, I don't think it is the case. And if you look at the statistics, you can see that the top reviewers did not stop at 1000 reviews: math.stackexchange.com/review/close/stats
@AdrianKeister I wrote some things related to your recent edit (and some of your comments) in Math Meta chat. (Since you have talked about several different points, it might be quite difficult to respond to all of them in comments.) — Martin Sleziak 14 secs ago

And since I mentioned various places where posts which might need close votes can be found, there is of course also CRUDE.

Some estimate of number of reviewed items as function of time can be obtained from SEDE. I took the query from this post. However, SEDE does not contain data about the questions that have already been deleted, so the actual numbers are bigger. — Martin Sleziak 3 mins ago
