Users frequenting CRUDE chat room (whatever you take this somewhat vague phrase to mean) get quite a lot of criticism on meta recently. (But in some cases also some support.)
I think it is worth pointing out, that the activity in this room was increased precisely that the users doing the activities listed in the room description started using this room precisely because they wanted these processes to be as transparent as possible. Since closures/reopenings, deletions/undeletions are in some way logged in that room and users who disagree with some of them can respond in the room or at least they can see that these actions were carried out.
So even the users who disagree with the most active people in CRUDE about some of their actions or their view on the philosophy on general direction of the site should they give them credit at least for being transparent about this. (They could as well do this in some way which would be much less visible. This would avoid some of the controversy, but other users would have only very limited possibilities to review the actions initiated in this room.)
(I am not sure whether I should write they or we - I am certainly among the most actives users of that room during the last months, but I certainly visit there and also post there.)
I would say that increase of activity in this room started around July 2017 and the motivation was indeed to increase transparency. (If I misrepresented something, maybe somebody will correct me.)
You can judge for yourself and look at the starred messages to see at which point they became more frequent. Also at that point the room was mentioned a few times in the main chatroom.

@user21820 One place where such "chores" are handled nicely is at the C.R.U.D.E. chatroom. Anyway, there is a lot happening here; I could probably spend all my free time in various chat rooms, even on non.mse. chats!

@user21820 Somewhat related discussion with amWhy in c.r.u.d.e: https://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/2165/2017/7/25

Some users suggested recently that it might be good idea to revive c.r.u.d.e chat room.

While the timing of this post coincides with us expressing some serious concerns around how we're not doing a good job of helping and guiding Stack Overflow to remain a welcoming place for everyone, this is something that's been weighing heavily on our minds for quite some time, and applicable to...
