@BradC Note: this is just the writers, NOT the actors
@BradC I hope they got everything (or at the very least, the most important) things they were asking for.
They undoubtedly had to make some concessions, I just hope they were small and mostly unimportant.
> "The terms of the agreement were not immediately known."
Yeah, I had seen that in this or another article I read this morning.
I can only assume they wouldn't have agreed to something that didn't at least address the many things they were asking for .

From my understanding, limiting use of generative AI and minimum staffing were the two big asks.
Were streaming residuals part of the issue for the writers? Or was that just the actors' guild?
Both I think, but part of it for the writers would be included in the minimum staffing. They want "Staff Writer" or "Series Writer" credits, particularly for shorter seasons that are now common in streaming and premium cable.
Basically, they want everyone in the writers room to get some credit on each episode, not just the one or two people who get the episode written by credit.

I hope this means that those late night talkshows are back
Man, I missed Stephen Colbert the past 5 months
From what I read: Tentative means it needs to be voted upon first by the membership, and publicizing the details would make stuff harder so they didn't
That is, the union knows what the deal is - the press does not :P

A Texas teen was suspended for weeks over his locs hairstyle. Now, his family is suing the governor cnn.com/2023/09/23/us/darryl-george-texas-crown-act-lawsuit/…
> A Black high school student who was suspended over his locs hairstyle and his mother have sued Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the state’s attorney general for allegedly failing to enforce the state’s CROWN Act, a law that protects against hair discrimination.
> Darryl George, a 17-year-old student at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, Texas, has been suspended for more than three weeks because officials said his locs – which he often wears in braids or a ponytail – violate the Barbers Hill Independent School District’s dress code for male students.
> The policy does not prohibit students from wearing locs or braids, but it does place limitations on hair length for male students, stating hair cannot be worn in a style “that would allow the hair to extend below the top of a t-shirt collar, below the eyebrows, or below the ear lobes when let down.”
How absurd, not to mention racist.

Trump argues First Amendment protects him from ‘insurrection’ cases aimed at keeping him off ballot apnews.com/article/…

> Prosecutors in those cases and some legal experts have noted that Trump’s offenses go beyond speech, to acts such as trying to organize slates of fake electors that Congress could have recognized to make him president again.

@Nzall Doesnt he and all big late night shows hosts have a podcast together?
@Fredy31 Yeah, but it's a bit too random for my preferences
Strike Force Five is a limited series podcast hosted by American comedians and talk show hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver. Debuting on August 30, 2023, it was created to support the five hosts' employees who are out of work due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. Upon its debut, the podcast hit the top charts on Spotify and Apple in the United States. == History == === Background === On May 2, 2023, the Writers Guild of America (WGA), representing 11,500 screenwriters, went on strike over an ongoing labor dispute with the Alliance o...

@Nzall i was hearing on the news that they would be the first to return if the strike ends
which would be good because then LastWeekTonight Resumes
2 hour long special with a part on the strike and the conclusion to the Writer's side of it and then the rest just speed run all the topics they wanted to do during the strike
