Conservative Candidate Says He Would Take Action Against ‘Anti-Conservative’ Bias Among Elementary School Students pressprogress.ca/…
> According to Vanderley, conservatives are not able to speak their minds in first grade classrooms because elementary schools lack strong free speech policies.
> Vanderley explained that in his personal experience, he hasn’t “found too many issues with the teachers themselves, it’s the fellow students.”
Ah yes those pesky liberal, uh, checks notes 6 year olds suppressing free speech
This guy really looks like he belongs at a KKK rally twitter.com/MattiasVDL?s=09
Although to be fair to the CPC, he's just one of those nobody candidates that they've only allowed to run since they wabtrd someone on the ballot. NDP is going to to win his riding pretty easily.
Aka it's a district they'll never win so any rando that volunteers will just get tossed on the ballot

@Wipqozn When a 6-year-old thinks your speech is bullshit, maybe, and I'm just spit balling here, but just maybe your speech is bullshit.

@Wipqozn A fencepost candidate... that are just there to rack up some votes
get a little bit of budget for the party
What I will always find funny was the NPD candidate that tought so hard they were not gonna win that she was in vacation outside the country on election night. She won

@Wipqozn remembered it wrong. But she did take a vacation to vegas in the middle of the 2011 election. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Ellen_Brosseau
And basically did nothing in the riding the whole election. But still won.
also TIL, in english its a 'paper candidate'. In quebec we say more 'candidat poteau' which would translate to a post candidate (post as a fence post, or flag pole, etc)
basically meaning its just there and doesnt do much
guess the english expression is more like 'its a candidate only on the paper, because it didn't do much except being on the ballor'
For confused people why you would run even if you dont have a chance in hell of winning there: In canada, parties get their subvention from the government for each vote they get (i think it ends up at about 1$ per vote)

So if you are not putting anyone in the running for a running, well you are leaving money on the table.

So you just get someone from there to run for you. Don't really have to put much effort in. But the maybe 1000 votes you get, well, 1000$.

But sometimes, those people unexpectedly get elected
Oh crap, I'm saying garbage, that subsidy has been removed in 2015. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_political_financing_in_Canada
Which is not good, imo
