Nova scotia is sitting at 70% citizens with first dose, an 79% of eligible citizens with first dose...there's some pretty huge drops in lower age brackets though.
60+ is 90%....18-29 is only 49%.
We've also been doing it by age, so 18-29 has had the fewest time to get the vaccine... but still, a little worried we're going to cap out where we are now.
All of the appointments are booked... but they are all allowing folks to book second doses now, so impossible to know how much of that is first vs second dose.

@Wipqozn There's no real point in making conclusions based on first doses. You really need that second dose to be protected, especially against variants

They're doing 18-30 age appointments now in the UK and there doesn't seem to be any indication that they're less likely to get the vaccine

@Nzall The conclusion I'm drawing is that our fully vaccinated population can not exceed whatever the percentage of people with the first dosage are.
@Ronan Yeah I'm hoping this is just a result of younger folks having trouble booking the vaccine due to high demand.

@Wipqozn True, but how long has the 18-29 age group been able to get their vaccine?

@Nzall About a month

I think Belgium really does it the right way: instead of asking people to book their own appointment, everyone gets an invite with a proposed date, and people can either accept, refuse or move the appointment.

@Nzall So we're kind of doing both.
Your second appointment is automatically scheduled 105 days after your first. If you rescheduled your first appointment, though, you need to book the second one manually. Also, they've been moving up second dose appointments, so folks with a second booked have been getting invites to book thir second earlier.

Over here we get an invite in the mail with dates, or we can be slightly faster and make our own appointment via a website

@Elva "over here" being Netherlands, right? Our system is pretty much the same: you can wait for an appointment or place yourself on the QVAX backup list, and if there are vaccines left at the end of the day you can be summoned early

Yeah

@Nzall the first dose is a good indicator of how many are willing to get the vaccine, most people will also get the second one then

School asked boys to use rating system on girls, female students taught to keep virginity smh.com.au/national/nsw/…
> Boys at a northern beaches Anglican school were told to choose the qualities they looked for in a girl from a list that allocated more points for virginity, looks, and strong Christian values than for generosity and adventurousness.
> The year 10 male students at co-ed St Luke’s Grammar School were separated from the female students for the Christian studies exercise. In another classroom, girls were given articles to read about why remaining a virgin until marriage was important.
> The exercise given to year 10 boys in Christian studies class at St Luke’s Grammar

You have 25 points to allocate on qualities that you would look for in a girl. Now this is supposed to be for a lasting relationship. Listed below are a number of qualities, each marked with a point system. You have to prioritise what you think is important

Six points: popular, loyalty, good looking/attractive, intelligent, strong Christian, kind and considerate, virgin, trustworthy

Five points: physically fit, easy to talk to, fun/sense of humour, wise
> Mr Lancaster wrote to parents after school on Friday, apologising and saying he had spoken to the teacher - a member of the Anglican clergy - about his poor judgment in using the material to guide the class discussion on relationships.

> “He is very sorry for the offence he has caused and saddened to think that the way this discussion was framed has upset our students,” the letter said.
Yeah, bullshit he's sorry. HE's sorry he got called out on his shit.
> “St Luke’s always has been, and always will be, a school that respects, values and honours all students.”
ACtually you just proved you're not.

> The girls did not have a similar lesson, and instead were given articles on the importance of virginity and how Satan provides opportunities for fleeting sexual encounters.
Is this supposed to be pro- or anti-Satan worship?

@murgatroid99 Excellent question'

GOP filibuster halts Democrats' signature voting bill apnews.com/article/…
3
> The bill, known as the For the People Act, would touch on virtually every aspect of how elections are conducted, striking down hurdles to voting that advocates view as the Civil Rights fight of the era, while curbing the influence of money in politics and limiting partisan influence over the drawing of congressional districts.
I, for one, am shocked that the party constantly trying to stop people from voting would shoot down a bill intended to make voting easier
> Democrats want to protect against intimidation at the polls in the aftermath of the 2020 election. They propose enhancing penalties for those who would threaten or intimidate election workers and creating a “buffer zone” between election workers and poll watchers, among other possible changes.
> They also want to limit the ability of state officials to remove local election officials. Georgia Republicans passed a law earlier this year that gives the GOP-dominated Legislature greater influence over a state board that regulates elections and empowers it to remove local election officials deemed to be underperforming.
> "It will make election more difficult, expensive, subject to federal micromanagement,” Murkowski said.
Heaven forbid you'd spend money on something as unimportant as an election
