They've criticized Fauci in many ways for a long time, but Tucker Carlson (and others) are now trying to blame him for the existence of Covid in the first place. Here's a WAPO article analyzing this:

There's a very long article on Medium that is the source for the core claims about Fauci and Wuhan (the topic is more general, about whether SARS-CoV2 could be the result of gain-of-function research in Wuhan). That article is far more believable than most conspiracy theories, and some points in there are likely good. But some points are almost certainly heavily overstated, and the entire thing seriously biased

@MadScientist yeah, that's the article that Tucker and Rand Paul are taking as "this 100% occurred" and extrapolating further as somehow being Fauci's fault? When the article is actually saying something more like "we can't fully rule out this vector like we previously thought" or something much more nuanced

Meanwhile Tucker is all the way down the road on "indict Fauci!!"

The article is quite heavily pushing the lab escape theory, just with some careful language

and the Fauci link is explicitly in there. There is an NIH grant for coronavirus research in Wuhan, and according to that article Fauci granted a waiver for the ban on gain of function research. That the grant exists is official, I haven't looked into the second part

so i heard on the radio that the gov. of utah wants fully vaccinated people to stop wearing masks in public because vaccine-hesitant people need to see a visible incentive to get a vaccine

I did get vaccinated with AZ very recently, and my danger of actually catching COVID is relatively small

@MadScientist We're at the point where 40+ year olds can get one of the mRNA vaccines anyway, and the risk analysis for AZ is worse for those under the age of 40.

I'm below 40, and not in any group that gets priority. But AZ is unpopular, so you can get appointments even if you're not in line yet if you're a bit lucky
