TL;DR: Queen Lizzie wasn't laughing at her husband being "disguised as a palace guard" in that image (that was his ceremonial uniform). She was laughing at her guests being attacked by a swarm of bees.
can bet you they will keep finding things to charge her with to keep her locked up. no need to worry about loosing the next election of the opposition leader is arrested
O'Toole will vote against MP's private member's bill on sex-selective abortion cbc.ca/news/politics/…
> Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole says he will vote against a private member's bill introduced by a Conservative MP which would make performing a sex-selective abortion a criminal offence.
> O'Toole did not say whether he would direct his critics to vote against Bill C-233, also known as the "Sex-selective Abortion Act," which would make it a criminal offence for a medical practitioner to perform an abortion solely on the grounds of the sex of the fetus.
As appalling as I find the idea of aborting based on sex, a person should not need to give any reason for an abortion.
So I suspect this is just an attempt to get some anti-abortion law into law as either as a first step, or just some attempt by the Conversate MP to use this being voted down as a way to call liberals and NDP "sexist".
@Wipqozn i own guns and i want to talk about gun control
i bought a handgun and it took all of fifteen minutes. there's no way a proper background check could've been done in that time. i get that most people aren't going to flag anything on relevant gun ownership questions, but i think that it should at minimum be an overnight process
Carrying a loaded gun mostly made me uncomfortable, just a bit uneasy. And I really wouldn't trust myself to use it well in an actual crisis, so in the end it would be purely dangerous
guns are like computers, they do (shoot bullets) what you tell (trigger) them to do. the problem with current gun ownership is that, depending on the state, politics push really hard to make it super easy to acquire a gun but none of the lobbies or politicians care too much about gun education
i'd feel much safer with our current gun rights situation if gun education was either (or both) mandatory or state-funded
I've seen a soldier in basic training shoot a blank at the ground while trying to unload the rifle, I don't have that much faith in my fellow humans there
if you're going to make guns so widely available, then education on use and responsibility needs to be paramount. i don't agree with guns being freely available while education is so lacking
driver education doesn't solve all vehicle-related fatalities, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. it's really more of a bare minimum than a silver bullet
wait a second, societal discrimination against felons aside, i thought possession of a firearm by a felon was a felony in and of itself? texas has some limited circumstances, but texas is texas
iirc, you can still possess a firearm on your own property after five years have passed since release
