> Mitch McConnell 'concerned' people won't go back to work if they get $1,400 checks t.co/Tc2TCLd21x
The GOP are the best party ever and are truly concerned for the well being of the countries citizens

12:17 AM
isn't the checks going to those who don't have work thanks to the pandemic?

Georgia Bill Would Criminalize Giving Water to Voters Waiting in Long Lines truthout.org/articles/…
LaNd oF tHe FrEe
> Georgia House Bill 531, which passed in the Georgia General Assembly on Monday, would add a voter ID requirement for absentee ballots, limit the number and locations of early voting drop-off boxes, and reduce early voting days during the weekends prior to an election — including allowing just one Sunday to vote early.
How do politicians this terrible keep getting elected

2:26 AM
because probably the people who vote them in don't think these polices will hurt them
think Georgia's bill did something to mail in votes didn't it? if not can expect that to be on the chopping block

@Wipqozn a combination of what @Memor-X said and the likelihood that their voters don't pay attention to what they do

and then when they make it so everyone has only the single place to vote, we'll see the die hard supporters of these politicians starve and dehydrate as they wait in days long lines in order to vote, only to get to the door and have it slammed in their face because the law was also changed to stop people voting after a certain time despite being in line

Halifax parking lot 'blight' to be turned into affordable housing cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/…
> 2 apartment buildings with 57 units will be ready some time in 2023, rents to be 75 per cent of going rate
> He added the 57 units will barely make a dent in the demand for affordable housing. Graham said some European cities have achieved a balanced housing market in which 12 to 15 per cent or more of rentals are non-profit compared to market-priced units. In Halifax, non-profit rentals are running at about two per cent of the overall rental housing stock, he said.
"He" being the executive director of the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia,
So great news, but we've still got a long way to go

> On Wednesday, a police-reform act named in honor of George Floyd—which aims to ban chokeholds and create national standards for policing—passed as easily as had been expected in the Democratic-controlled House. But the final vote tally contained one big surprise—a single Republican, the staunch Trump ally and conservative Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX),
> voted in favor of the act in what seemed to be an apparent crisis of conscience. However, according to Gooden, there’s a far simpler explanation—in all the excitement, he put his finger down on the wrong button.

> The self-described white nationalist who stormed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office and posed for gleeful photos during the Capitol riot doesn’t believe he should be in jail—and he’s had a temper tantrum in court to make his opinion known.
> “They’re dragging this out. They’re letting everyone else out,” Richard “Bigo” Barnett yelled during his Thursday court hearing, insisting that “it’s not fair” that he is still in jail while a slew of his fellow rioters have been released pending trial.
> “This has been a bunch of crap,” he added.

@Unionhawk This decision was indeed made by Manchin (D-WV), Tester (D-MT), Shaheen (D-NH), Hassan (D-NH), King (I-ME), Sinema (D-AZ), Carper (D-DE) and Coons (D-DE)
Obviously one vote would have been enough so 7 of these people could have taken cover but chose not to
And now they don't even get to pretend it's because the parliamentarian said so lol, you maybe get that plausible deniability if the procedural vote went like 92-7
not if it goes 58-42

9:03 PM
anyway, the party is going to get fucking destroyed in 2022
lol this was three months ago
