> The story of Diana was previously brought to the screen by the Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel in 2013 with Naomi Watts in the lead role. The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw called it “car crash cinema” while the Mirror’s David Edwards wrote that “Wesley Snipes in a blonde wig would be more convincing”.
Ha! It's free on Prime right now.
I'm putting it on.

@murgatroid99 It'll be interesting to see if they can build on that and do more in that space. It's certainly very impressive.

I think the main thing that will be built on that result is other scientists using it as a tool to facilitate their own research

And we get to finally show those jerk proteins who's boss

@murgatroid99 protein folding is impressive and useful, but I wonder if they could solve some other related problems this way. For example interactions between proteins and small molecules, or proteins and other proteins. I mean at this point this is still in science fiction territory, but if you could do more of this stuff entirely with a computer without experiments this could allow a very different kind of science, applied to a large body of data all at once

8:53 PM
@MadScientist If I understand right, they're still at the point where folding a single protein takes multiple days, so they're pretty far away from applying this to the "180 million protein sequences and counting in the Universal Protein database" all at once.

@murgatroid99 I think that was the training speed, I don't think they said anything about inference speed.

Remember that monolith in Utah that stood there for half a decade? One just like it appeared in Romania

@Jolenealaska You mean an organization operating on the word of a con man conned people? surprised pikachu
> “While we stand by the voters’ testimony that was brought forth, barriers to advancing our arguments, coupled with constraints on time, made it necessary for us to pursue a different path,”
Those darn barriers, like requiring evidence!
