Pending more confirmation but it sounds like Parler got pwned
After that Trump dating app who could have foreseen this series of events
But also all software is bad so
Should have forced Hannity to apologise on air tbh, but 🤷🏼‍♂️

1 hour later…
2:41 AM
@Wipqozn Fuck the Steele family, but then also I bought my car from an O'Regan's dealership.
For everyone, those two families have something like a 60%+ combined market share in Halifax.

3:35 AM
Yeah, that's not surprising. Love the small business owner in that they own a lot of business that individually are "small"
It must just be too easy to get a dealership gig because that happens a lot here too where you'll have like five different makes with adjacent dealerships owned by the same people

5:16 AM
Somehow we missed this two years ago but Blackwater Beef exists, which is just wild

5:33 AM
@Jolenealaska I think conservatives will have a field day with this. They are going to point to this every time they shame people on welfare.

6:23 AM
@EddieKal Yeah, but they don't need ammunition. I'm a decorated war veteran seriously disabled by MS. I get a lot of shade just for getting free VA health care. Some people just have to hate.

7:33 AM
Haha! www.loser.com

2 hours later…
9:20 AM
@Jolenealaska on discord someone was talking about
> Well, [youtube] finally actually enforced the rules against that Russian propaganda "news" network thing.
and when i saw that i thought "well that's explains why they sound bat shit crazy, they just fail at presenting propaganda"

I watched a few minutes of their videos. Batshit is a huge understatement. They play that channel in some of the waiting rooms at the VA. I've never paid attention, but I'm going to start. It's ridiculous.

@Jolenealaska i got that much from Last Week Tonight

I somehow missed the episode the first time around. I'm watching it now.
LOL

9:38 AM
@Jolenealaska obviously bias at the end of the title there because if she really destroys him, she would have named a Sewage Plant after him

7 hours later…
4:45 PM
I thought he was in jail now?
or was that some other shitty internet personality? It's hard to keep track of them all.

5:47 PM
> Grimes received slightly over $90,000 from Factor, a Canadian arts subsidy program that’s partially funded by the federal government.
but yeah that's dumb
1% don't need grants

Fucking emergency notification system tests @Wipqozn

6:39 PM
@MBraedley hahahah
I barely noticed i t, since I've got headphones with noise cancelling on
Nova Scotia just put in new protections for tenants novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20201124004
> Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Chuck Porter, also minister responsible for the Emergency Management Act, announced today, Nov. 25, immediate protections ordered under the Emergency Management Act:

> - rents cannot increase by more than two percent per year
> - landlords will not be able to get an eviction order for renovations
> The protections for renters will be in place until Feb. 1, 2022, or until the state of emergency is lifted, whichever is sooner. Rental increase protections are retroactive to Sept. 1, 2020.

That's a big middle finger to the scummy landlords doing investment/gentrification property purchases.

Yuuuuup
THank zeus. The number of people being renoevicated or getting huge rent increases during all this is absurd.

Also, if you spread out renos, you don't have to evict the tenant. I had my kitchen counter replaced and the bathroom vanity replaced while I was in my last apartment. They probably could replace the floors one room at a time as long as it only took a day or two.

Honestly even if takes a week, the landlord should just need to pay for a hotel.
Small landlords are the only ones I'd worry about with that. i .e. the "well I rent out my basement to help with my mortage" kind
not the "I own 20 buildings" kind

6:54 PM
But those smaller landlords generally don't have the 5+ year tenants to begin with.

Not normally, no.

I do kinda wish I had bought an income property. Mind you if the unit had flooded like my basement did it would have sucked even more.

@MBraedley SF has a city wide emergency alarm that they test at 12pm every Thursday. We use it to know when we should head out for lunch

7:12 PM
Damn every Thursday lol
Our county does county wide tests first Wednesday at noon
Probably also if and only if there is obviously no severe weather in the area but I'm not sure

2 hours later…
9:00 PM
@Unionhawk I'm not sure what that means

9:14 PM
Trump pardoned Flynn

@Wipqozn like tornado siren tests

@Unionhawk oh okay
I thought you meant that your county only tested people for covid once a week and I was just like "wtf"
@MadScientist What did he do again?
I can't even remember, because there's just so much corruption and criminals in the Trump admin /campaign.

@Wipqozn light treason or something

> Flynn pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about interactions he had with Russia’s ambassador to the US in the weeks before Trump took office.
Oh okay, right
I suspect Trump will be going on a pardon spree

@Wipqozn Nothing, just lobbying for foreign dictators

9:26 PM
@Wipqozn that's what I was about to write

@EddieKal Trump isn't foreign...

@Wipqozn I think that was about the Erdogan story

@MadScientist My joke was Trump is a national dictator

if that one is true, that would be pretty fucked up. It wouldn't suprise me, but I have no idea how validated that story was

> In July 2016, Flynn spoke at a meeting of ACT! for America when the 2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt against Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄźan was underway. He spoke favorably of the coup participants, saying that ErdoÄźan had been moving away from a secular state and towards an Islamist state, and that participants in the coup wanted Turkey to be and to be seen as a secular — a goal "worth clapping for".
I was talking about Erdogan

9:28 PM
I know you weren't talking about Trump. I forgot Flynn did that too.
It's so hard to keep track of all the crimes committed by his admin and campaign.

Yeah

Like I'm not even joking. I honestly can't remember it all, or who did what.

it'll be interesting to finally resolve the question whether a president can pardon themselves. Or it'll be really annoying and Trump steps down so that Pence pardons him

@MadScientist ....I never even considered that. fuck.

still leaves state charges, but it would probably be a completely solid defense for all federal charges

9:32 PM
I'd think you need to be convicted to get pardoned, though.

@NapoleonWilson Nixon
I don't think that was tested in court, but it's some kind of precedent at least

Trump prepardoning himself has been discussed by the media. I am not sure if there's a verdict on if he could possibly do that

@EddieKal I'm pretty sure nobody knows, there is no precedent so it would be up to the supreme court. I've heard some arguments on why the pardon power wouldn't extend to pardoning yourself, but as far as I know there is no legal decision on this so far

Another one of these edge cases noone thought about because everyone assumed only sane people would sit in office? ;-)

@MadScientist Yeah I was gonna say "The jury is still out on that one" but sadly if/when it got to the supreme court, there wouldn't even be a jury. We'd all get a big 6 v 3 shoved down our throat

9:46 PM
@NapoleonWilson Sounds about right.

10:19 PM
@MBraedley more details: novascotia.ca/coronavirus/docs/…
This is also super interesting and great:
> 3. (1) For any new tenancy commencing on and after December 1, 2020, a residential landlord is prohibited from charging the new tenant an amount of rent that is more than 2% above the amount of rent that was payable by the previous tenant for the same residential premises*
Fines of $500 to $10,000 for individuals, and up to $100,000 for corporations, per incident.

1 hour later…
11:48 PM
@MadScientist I thought you had to be convicted before you could be pardoned
