@Tim What do you mean?

@Tim i more see it as Trump trying to compensate for something lacking, like the guy in his mid-life-crisis getting a flash and very loud car
and we know they play with the camera angle for the broadcast because of the Tulsa rally looked to be like all the others yet it was very empty
i haven't seen one of Bidens yet but all the times Trump's get broadcast, it's just show boating, lying and stroking his ego and at worst, the crowd of the loudest showing how racist they can be
[INSERT CLIP OF WHEN TRUMP "DANCED" TO THE CROWD CHANTING TO GO BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM]

12:24 AM
Well at least the minority did everything they could t- hahahahahahahahaha sorry I can't do this as a parliamentarian lol
At least I am not the minority leader who messed up the mission of "delay this at least to 11/4" so badly
How embarrassing would that be to be that guy
> NEW: "It's a lifetime appointment. I'm not going to attempt to change that at all," @JoeBiden said when asked if he would be open to putting term limits on the Supreme Court.
Let's go
We would do not conservatism but what can you do our hands are tied :(
Worthless
Anyway it doesn't matter because they're just going to rule that george w bush is president again somehow
same as they did in 2000
:)
> Leader Schumer to Republicans: "You may win this vote ... But you will never, never get your credibility back. And the next time the American people give Democrats a majority in this chamber, you will have forfeited the right to tell us how to run that majority."
ten hours long fart noise
guess what they don't need to win ever again
Who the fuck cares about what is legitimate or credible

1:15 AM
@Unionhawk Ofc Biden would say that. He wouldn't want to get on the bad side of some voters (he considers them to be a multitude) who see such a move as disrespecting the constitution. Biden is really not a good candidate. But this is a battle of ineffective Joe vs. fascism.

More specifically, in a manner that cites to the late bill rehnquist's concurrence in bush v gore that went to far for even o'connor and kennedy
bill being originally appointed to the court by nixon in 72, then to chief justice by reagan in 86
interestingly, barrett spent more time as a judge than bill did before being appointed associate justice
bill jumping straight from assistant attorney general at the office of legal counsel to associate justice

@EddieKal That's a pretty grey area in a lot of states. BLM can be construed as anti-Trump, which could make wearing the message to vote illegal.
> Since the incident, the Shelby County Election Commission has reminded workers at all 26 polling places in the county that it's acceptable for voters to wear clothing with social statements on them as long as they're not linked to a political candidate, she said.
So, the firing stands in this case.

Walks straight into this room with no idea what is going on

8:37 AM
Mostly we're stressing about the election. Everybody here wants to see Trump gone.

8:57 AM
@EddieKal how to win, you get the logo on the inside aswell, or get an even worse one

9:11 AM
Apparently there's a situation developing in West Philadelphia
A man armed with a knife was approaching armed police and got shot when he didn't drop his weapon when requested

Got shot a lot
Witness says 15 rounds
You know what they say about bringing a knife to a gun fight.

9:30 AM
@Jolenealaska I'll be honest here: I definitely understand why people are upset, but I don't really blame the police in this case. They saw an armed man approaching them in anger, warned him multiple times, and when he didn't respond properly, they subdued him. I just think they should have used tasers, not guns

That's a pretty big difference, and I agree.

@Nzall tasers yes but it does sound like suicide by police

yeah, this isn't like a man whose reaching for his wallet during a traffic stop was mistaken for grabbing a gun. This is an armed man who was clearly showing signs of dangerous intent.

10:25 AM
@Nzall I would agree IF they were untrained random people
These are police. "Bringing a knife to a gun fight" is dumb because it doesn't work, multiple, what should be, highly trained people against one person with a knife means they surround the guy and talk him down/disarm him

11:02 AM
The bit with Michael Cane at 5.20 is pretty insane

It's going to be REALLY important for all news agencies to not report election night results as final, or even as binding

1:40 PM
@Elva tbh I think you're greatly underestimating how dangerous a knife is. People do this all the time. but yeah, they should've used tasers.

@Nzall ha, ha, ha, ha, good luck with that. i can already imagine FOX and OAN doing that
and there's no doubt going to be some people accidently publishing one (or both) of their prepared news stories for the winner

@Wipqozn if both parties are untrained and both parties are one person
And you're already in range
But police should be highly trained and work together
And then "a guy with a knife" shouldn't really be a problem
Certainly not one that needs you killing said guy

1:57 PM
@Elva There was only two officers. I don't think that's enough to make it "not really a problem". Again, I think you're vastly underestimating how dangerous a knife is. but again,I agree they shouldn't have killed him, since they should've used a taser.

2:12 PM
Two people is new information... Regardless, a knife is not dangerous when the person wielding it is kept at a distance, and plenty of videos of actually trained people disarming a person with a knife if that isn't an option for some reason
Anyway shrugs
American cops are incompetent and violent, not new :p

@Elva I mean, compared to someone who probably only used a knife in the kitchen, police are well trained... In murder
Like, police get months of shooting training, but not all that much in conflict resolution and situation management

> In an 18-page lecture, the justice cast doubt on the legitimacy of many mail ballots and endorsed the most sinister component of Bush v. Gore. America’s new median justice is not a friend to democracy, and we may pay the price for Barrett’s confirmation in just eight days.
Wow, didn't expect this:
better article:

2:29 PM
@BradC this is so fucking depressing.

@Nzall indeed

Biden needs to win in a LANDSLIDE, there's no alternative
Otherwise the world will probably die as the US descends into nuclear civil war

Changing rules during the election period that will end up disenfranchising voters is undemocratic, simple as that.

2:46 PM
Yeah, buuuuut... do they care?

@Elva They don't
and that should be obvious
And Biden's refusal to get rid of these undemocratically elected judges is going to leave a lasting impact on the USA for decades
and I don't care who you are, or whether you hold different opinions: this is simply not good

3:15 PM
@Elva Agreed.
> Those States want to avoid the chaos and suspicions of impropriety that can ensue if thousands of absentee ballots flow in after election day and potentially flip the results of an election. And those States also want to be able to definitively announce the results of the election on election night, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Yuuuuup. This is why I don't think Trump is going to "lose." SCOTUS is corrupt.
HEck, I wouldn'tbe shocked if GOP lawyers make a case to make ALL mail in ballots illegal (assuming it would make him win), and SCOTUS goes "yeah sure".
> It is genuinely alarming that the justice cast these aspersions on late-arriving ballots. In at least 18 states and the District of Columbia, election officials do count ballots that arrive after Election Day. And, in these states, there is no result to “flip” because there is no result to overturn until all valid ballots are counted.
> Finally, and most importantly, late-arriving ballots have handed the election to a candidate who was behind on election night on many occasions in the United States—most recently, in multiple California congressional races in 2018. Two years ago, California anticipated this possibility after extending the deadline for mail ballots, a move that signaled no chicanery
yaaay corruption
> Whatever the reasons behind Kavanaugh’s performance on Monday, he has given the nation another legitimate reason to fear that this election may end with a Bush v. Gore–like disaster for American democracy, but even worse than the original.
Oh yeah 100%

It's incredible that 30 years ago he sounded almost exactly the same, just less loud, and we laundered him into a celebrity anyway

@TimStone I mean, society does this all the time. Society sucks.

4:22 PM
What's the term used for moralism based on whether the law allows something?
Stuff like "if it's legal, I don't have any problems with it"

4:33 PM
@Nzall "idiocy"?

@Elva I mean, yes, but no. There's probably a phylosophical term for that

Ex-postal worker charged with tossing absentee ballots apnews.com/article/…
> The mail included approximately 111 general election absentee ballots that were being mailed form the Jefferson County clerk’s office to voters, as well as 69 mixed class pieces of mail, 320 second-class pieces of mail and two national election campaign flyers from a political party in Florida, the release said.

The movie is on Amazon prime, so I've seen it. Not my cup of tea, but the Rudy scene was worth watching. What a buffoon.

Also for those interested, Borat 1 is expiring on Amazon Prime at the end of the month. Borat 1 came out in 2006, also worth watching.

Since 2017, Trump’s company has charged taxpayers for hotel rooms, ballrooms, cottages, rental houses, golf carts, votive candles, floating candles, candelabras, furniture moving, resort fees, decorative palm trees, strip steak, chocolate cake, breakfast buffets, $88 bottles of wine and $1,000 worth of liquor for White House aides. And water.

Trudeau says pandemic 'sucks' as COVID-19 compliance slips and cases spike cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-covid-sucks-1.5778696

@EddieKal The BBC review of Subsequent Moviefilm is probably correct in that Borat was only shocking because the movie managed to get Americans to say out loud the shocking racist things that are usually left spoken. In 2020 those same things are not just spoken out loud, you could even find them in the President's Twitter feed

9:06 PM
@PrivatePansy I agree 100%. That's why in the last election cycle we saw such a strong backlash from the conservative candidates against "PC". Every last one of them had to attack political correctness and get on board with this anti-PC stance to count as a proper GOP candidate. That's also why Trump is only symptomatic of deeper, more prevelant and insidious problems.
Trump is just the manifestation of hate, bigotry and racism harbored by a lot of people, a way that allows them to let out these long bottled up sentiments.
PC is a thin veil. And anti-PC is a tell.

The women's liberation movement (WLM) was a political alignment of women and feminist intellectualism that emerged in the late 1960s and continued into the 1980s primarily in the industrialized nations of the Western world, which effected great change (political, intellectual, cultural) throughout the world. The WLM branch of radical feminism, based in contemporary philosophy, comprised women of racially- and culturally-diverse backgrounds who proposed that economic, psychological, and social freedom were necessary for women to progress from being second-class citizens in their societies.Towards...
now will we need a Black Women's Liberation Movement?
