> "I think Joe Biden has a scandal coming up that's going to make him almost an impotent candidate," Trump also told his staff during the call.

Thank Zeus
@TimStone @Nzall Oh okay. So as expected, that's horrible.

@Tim i get the feeling that might just be referring to the laptop
because a whole lot of people have said there's a smoking gun there that's yet to be revealed. not that anyone has revealed what that is nor come from a source that isn't already know for making shit up

2 hours later…
@TimStone Well FiveThirtyEight still has him at about 1 in 8. Those are not good odds, but also not extremely long.
Speaking of which their new interactive election map is a really neat tool in illustrating conditional probability projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-biden-election-map

@Memor-X What does this portend...

@EddieKal that we could have something good in 2020 but the US is trying to ruin it

Obama's speech is pretty good

Meta meta comment: there maybe some users who only come to this room to read the latest news, and for them having all the latest news in one place; namely, along the star list would be convenient. If the star list doesn't change for a week, then that gives those visitors no reason to drop by daily to catch-up on the latest news.
Just my humble opinion.
Otoh, the more important items will attract more stars; and thus, stay on the star list longer, until the star list refreshes itself biweekly.
:-)
@Memor-X I always thought that's what your username was a reference to.

8:48 AM
Knowing her it was probably a weeb thing :p

9:21 AM
@skullpatrol nooooo. it has nothing to do with that
@Elva more or less. was originally the name of a Megaman OC i made up when i was in high school

@Wipqozn from what i understand they are from the "pilot" program almost no one knew about which took place before the public one

@Memor-X Oh well that's horrifying

timed to the story
the Pilot program was in 2017, the public one was 2018
at about 13 minutes there's a comment from Lee Gelernt from the ACLU saying some were just babies when separated so may have spent more than half their lives separated

12:24 PM
Also, Trump did a 60 minutes interview and walked out partway through
Airs tonight,I think.
We should make sure to buy @MadScientist enough alcohol so he can watch the whole thing. Although the amount required for that may give him alcohol poisoning... hmmm...

12:43 PM
@Wipqozn he's been "threatening" to release it before it aired
how i have no idea
but we can guess the substance of it from his tweet

1:00 PM
@Wipqozn I'm not going to watch it (and I don't have any alcohol here right now)

1:47 PM
@MadScientist The trick is not have cable, and not care enough to figure out how to get access to it online.
Then you never can be tempted.

@Memor-X Is it a blank book?

@Elva apparently, yes

@Elva looks like it, at least that page
But stacks of papers or books or binders purporting to show an impressive amount of work that instead turn out to be blank is kind of a pattern with Trump. I think there have been at least 3 other examples?

Ha. Here's an entire WaPo article about the phenomenon: President Trump’s paper-stack politicking makes another appearance
@TimStone definitely not "Ha" for that. That's horrific

1:58 PM
@BradC I wonder if he does it because he thinks it works and if he thinks it works I wonder if it does and if it does work I wonder what the hell is wrong with everyone it works on

> According to multiple accounts, detainees were threatened, choked, beaten, pepper-sprayed and threatened with more violence to make them sign. Several were put in handcuffs by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officers, and their fingerprints were taken forcibly in place of a signature on documents called stipulated orders of removal, by which the asylum seekers waive their rights to further immigration hearings and accept deportation.

2:14 PM
@BradC (Yes)

2:36 PM
@TimStone Usually I'd say no. But I'm trying to imagine some WH employee trying to explain to Trump why he should use 2FA on his Twitter, and suddenly it's terrifyingly plausible

> Hunter Biden used an easy to guess password (Hunter02)
Is this real?

@Wrigglenite that is almost certainly a parody

I can't tell if that's sarcasm or what
That's what I would've thought, but in 2020?
You never know

The hunter2 password story is really, really old

That's why I can't tell
On one hand, it really should be a joke
On the other... well

@MadScientist Yeah, but they also got him to rotate his password since it's 2020, so hmm

lol apparently uber and lyft are probably committing mail fraud with their yes on 22 mailers twitter.com/GigWorkersRise/status/1318938480668409856?s=19

3:02 PM
that is only part of the quote, the article continues:

Gevers is familiar with leaked databases of old passwords and searched these for Hunter Biden’s data. After analysing these old databases, he felt that the information was incorrect. Hunter Biden used other passwords. Gevers: ‘I could tell that it wasn’t his password.’
So no that part isn't real, read the rest of the damn paragraph :P

I got excited

Anyway, de volskrant is an actual newspaper and not a parody site or anything so.. eh probably?

1 hour later…
4:19 PM
Yeah, Twitter is refuting the story but they also got rid of direct retweet so

6:32 PM
> “Look at the bias, hatred and rudeness on behalf of 60 Minutes and CBS,” Trump posted on Facebook the morning of his final debate with Joe Biden. He then added, for good measure, “Tonight’s anchor, Kristen Welker, is far worse!”
> But what anyone who watches all 38 minutes will see is that the president spent the bulk of his time openly whining about how “tough” the questions were while refusing to actually answer any of them in a coherent manner.

@BradC Amazing
I might actually watch this
It's honestly completely unreal he thought that, whatever this video is, releasing the unedited portion would paint him in a positive light.

Wow, some super tough questions here:
> Her first “tough” question? “Why do you want to be president again?”

He's completely disconnected from reality. Which is probably why his base like him so much, since they are too.

@Wipqozn But that assumes people will watch and judge for themselves, as opposed to assuming, based on the fact that they released it, that his characterization of it is correct

@BradC I mean he didn't need to release anything
his supporters are deranged. He could relese nothing, and they believe him.
he could literally shoot someone at one of his rallies, go "I didn't shoot them! It was liberal media!" and they'd believe him.
It's all very 1984.

6:43 PM
That's true, he could have just complained in advance about the unfair treatment and likely unfair editing, without providing the evidence to prove that claim wrong

7:04 PM
Yeah, it is extremely funny that instead of just saying that they're lying he basically told people who would trust him to watch it

7:38 PM
> Those gendarmes evidently didn’t know that Karp, far from being a public menace, was the chief executive of an American company whose software has been deployed on behalf of public safety in France
Okay counterpoint though he actually is a public menace

1 hour later…
BTW, about the Trump Twitter "Hack": there are things that just do not make sense
1) Trump's Twitter account, being a government account, would require a 10 character password. maga2020! is 9 characters.
2) maga2020! would have been hacked a long time ago if it was really his password, because it's literally his slogan, current year, most popular symbol;
3) Trump's Twitter account has increased security after it got maliciously deleted a couple years ago, so a login from Netherlands would be noticed immediately;
4) the bio length doesn't match up from the screenshot to actual evidence (though the screenshot doesn't have the 4 character flag).

2 hours later…
11:58 PM

@TimStone I'm surprised 5% of biden supporters believe that
