@TimStone At least he's being honest, for once.

1:41 AM
Oh come on, I apparently missed this yesterday but Dersh is starting a podcast (of course) called, I kid you not, "The Dershow"
Why must this timeline taunt us with being so dumb?

@TimStone This reminds, but in a surprise to no one, with the recent release of how Trump was walking in on all these underage models, all these pizzagaters are talking about how it's not a big deal
IT's almost as if they never cared about pedophiles and just wanted a reason to hate Clinton
@TimStone And also yeah this is not a surprise, and sadly won't make any difference at all.
We literally had a tape of him bragging about how he can sexually assault people and get away with it, and GOP and their voters didn't give a single fuck.

Lots of coverage of the ranting, unhinged speech Barr gave last night. Headlines like:
In other news of our rising autocracy:
> D.C. National Guard Maj. Adam D. DeMarco told lawmakers that defense officials were searching for crowd control technology deemed too unpredictable to use in war zones and had authorized the transfer of about 7,000 rounds of ammunition to the D.C. Armory as protests against police use of force and racial injustice roiled Washington.
suuure:
> A Defense Department official briefed on the matter downplayed DeMarco’s allegations, saying emails asking about specific weaponry were routine inventory checks to determine what equipment was available.
Pretty brutal review of Bob Woodward's new book "RAGE":
with gems like:
> A lack of anything remotely resembling literary ability has long been excused on the grounds that Woodward is a first-rate reporter, and first-rate reporters cannot afford the luxury of craftsmanship.
and
> The greatest achievement of “Rage” is that its deadening incoherence is a pretty close approximation of what it has felt like to be in Washington in 2020.

> At one point in April, USPS leaders drafted a news release announcing plans to distribute 650 million masks nationwide, enough to offer five face coverings to every American household. The document, which includes quotations from top USPS officials and other specifics, was never sent.
wut
> Before the news release was sent, however, the White House nixed the plan, according to senior administration officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share internal deliberations.
> “There was concern from some in the White House Domestic Policy Council and the office of the vice president that households receiving masks might create concern or panic,” one administration official said in response to the scrapped mask plan.

@BradC Everything I read about how Trump handled his pandemic response appears to signal his main goal was to downplay the pandemic in order to avoid panic, because panic would hurt his reelection chances
Like, he still doesn't take it seriously, and now there are more US deaths than from the last 5 wars or so combined

@Nzall yep, its all about being perceived in a positive light, and not at all about working to help solve the problem
Trump treats everything like a public relations issue, things have to be "managed", not that the government has any role in actually solving it
Others have said it far better than I. For example, WaPo Op-Ed from last month: After all this death, Trump is still treating the pandemic as a PR problem
Goes all the way back to the very beginning, when he didn't want to take sick passengers off the cruise ship because he didn't want to increase the total count of cases in the US. Not an anomaly; its what he really thinks

> ... claiming the church could ignore the order because it isn’t a public place
I honestly don't know what to say to that, other than I'm really glad I'm not part of that congregation.
It's tantamount to saying "we don't welcome anyone that isn't already a member"

8:56 PM
> In Bedminster this spring, the records show, Trump’s club charged the Secret Service more than $21,800 to rent a cottage and other rooms while the club was closed and otherwise off-limits to guests. The documents don’t give a reason for these rentals. Trump didn’t visit the club while it was closed, but his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her family reportedly visited at least once.

9:08 PM
(this is a superceding indictment on top of existing charges)
> Trump, she said, was not usually focused on the virus but would often “blindside” the task force and administration officials with public comments, such as his support for hydroxychloroquine, his Twitter attack on the CDC over the agency’s guidance on the reopening of schools, his skeptical comments about masks and his public musings about “herd immunity.”
> Many of his comments were the opposite of what had been discussed in the White House Situation Room, where task force meetings were often held, and were at odds with scientific recommendations or the administration’s own data, Troye said.
In the accompanying video she quotes Trump as saying, "maybe this Covid thing is a good thing. I don't like shaking hands with people; I don't have to shake hands with these disguisting people." (His supporters)

9:24 PM
@BradC This needs to be an attack ad on every single Republican network

Yep, its a pretty effective ad

@BradC Don't you mean... Fraud Guaranteed?
