@TimStone trial as adolescent/child, here in Germany that still carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, though there is a much stronger focus on rehabilitation compared to trial as adult in the sentences
@Wipqozn afaik storage requirements vary by state but I assume this guy sits down on his couch and watches news that tells him someone might come for him that he needs to shoot and that's why he has loaded guns in his couch

i thought i saw an article a couple of days ago saying, i think Spain, was showing how herd immunity wont be possible without a vaccine. but if even a vaccine wont help, then we're fucked

@Memor-X Let's be honest here: even with a vaccine, it's already uncertain whether enough people would voluntarily take it for herd immunity, especially in the states and other low-vaccination rate areas. However, if we can get an effective cure, we may not need herd immunity
@Nzall As politicized as this whole pandemic has become in the US (which is a pretty twisted sentence to write), you may be right that lots of people won't be willing to get vaccinated
But just as much, I've heard people talk about how low the supply of vaccinations might be, at least at first
@Nzall to be honest with the bragging Trump does i wouldn't trust US made vaccine unless i have the assurance that's it's been properly tested, which i hope doctors would do aswell (not suggest it unless they think it's been tested properly). elsewhere i have a but more faith and a Queenland University has said that they're wont be ready until mid next year (started phase 1 clinical trials)
@Elva i think they tried with a German lab, not sure if that was successful or not. but they did horde medical supplies of a treatment drug because of the monopoly that the patent owners have
@BradC another thing i wouldn't trust current America on. honestly you would think that front line health staff should get it so they can keep treating those who get it without fear but got a feeling that Trump will want vaccination in the federal Stockpile and we know who those are not for

@Yuuki true, but up to Covid, my perception is that vaccine deniers were spread more evenly across the political spectrum. There is plenty of homeopathy/naturopathy/alternative medicine/woo on the political left
Now the anti-"liberal left" contingent on the right is overlapping and amplifying the anti-vax contingent

It does seem that companies take it more seriously than the government even in California. I spoke with a friend in California earlier today, and she wasn't in the office for months, and just now she is back but alone in an office and working in shifts.
@Wipqozn There's not really a too late. Of course the lag between reporting and the actual infections and deaths means that it'll always get worse for a while until the measures take. But it's still better than letting it run entirely unchecked
@TimStone What Trump says is incredibly stupid, but even the more general "we're having more cases than everyone else because we're testing more" is such a blatant lie
@Nzall There's nothing to say that testing half as many people would produce half as many cases, because who was allowed to be tested would change if there was even less available testing
