@BradC is that sarcasm?

1:15 AM
> I just answered the door and spoke with a defeated Bloomberg canvasser.

He said, in a resigned tone, that he was "getting paid $300 to go door to door and listen to why everybody doesn't like Mike Bloomberg."

@Unionhawk source?

1:34 AM
> Police eventually arrested one of the masked residents for obstruction after he attempted to pull down a barricade that anti-pipeline protesters had erected.
I believe this is the first arrest associated with the current wave of protests.

2:05 AM
@Memor-X They're not blind, they just don't care. Don't confuse corruption with incompetence.

2:57 AM
@Stormblessed Yep, sarcasm

3:27 AM
This is just incredible to read about! nbcnews.com/news/world/…
> A patient at a British hospital played Mahler and Gershwin on the violin while a tumour was removed from her brain so that surgeons could preserve her ability to play music and her 40-year passion for the instrument.

@Stormblessed tempted to reply to some of those "you joining the communist party" replies with "wait, the Trump GOP Party wasn't the only one - twitter.com/thehill/status/1230698703163252738";

4:51 AM
what

5:47 AM
Yeah I’m confused too

6:29 AM
some of the replies i skimmed passed was suggesting AOC's announcement is that she's join the "Young Communists of America" or close to that and was thinking think of replying pointing out that they probably don't care that the former communist government is probably dictating their elections now so they are already supporting one (assuming they were supporting Trump's relection)

@GnomeSlice Yeah, it's amazing. Also, I'd never be able to to do that.

‘They’re basically giving us the boot’: Dartmouth hotel terminates reservations with social assistance guests globalnews.ca/news/6575187/…
48 hours notice. Travelodge in Dartmouth. Fuck this place.
They claim they need the space back for the "busy season"
I wasn't aware the middle of winter was the busy season

@Wipqozn I read the comments. I shouldn't have done that.

@MBraedley I'm thinking the same about reading the r/Halifax thread

3:39 PM
@Stormblessed Why are we arresting him for #2? The last thing anyone wants to see is Trump's butt.

4:32 PM
> Johnny McEntee called in White House liaisons from cabinet agencies for an introductory meeting Thursday, in which he asked them to identify political appointees across the U.S. government who are believed to be anti-Trump, three sources familiar with the meeting tell Axios.
this gif is slightly more relevant:
> In short: Our intelligence officials have concluded that another effort to subvert our election is underway. And Trump’s leading worry is that this could be used against him, not that our election is in grave danger of being compromised.

@BradC Wait, is the Purge a whole day or just 12 hours?
Because it'd be odd if it was the former and "there will be emergency services for the first half but y'all on your own for the last bit".

4:49 PM
@Yuuki Never saw the movie, just seemed relevant to what's going on in the Trump admin. And for that, no, there is no time limit

5:23 PM
> “One of our primary goals is to reward political courage in Congress and also to help elect a progressive majority in the House of Representatives,” Ocasio-Cortez told The New York Times, which first reported early Friday morning that she planned to make the announcement. “There’s kind of a dual nature to this: One is opening the door to newcomers, and the other is to reward members of Congress that are exhibiting very large amounts of political courage.”
Thumbs-up from me!

5:49 PM
Bit more of a deep-dive on all the changes in the US National Security apparatus under the Trump administration:

6:08 PM
The headline is a bit over the top, but her ruling and its associated explanation was excellent:
Here's WaPo's version:
> As former prosecutor Joyce White Vance says: “Judge Jackson delivered a sentence that was unquestionably reasonable, grounded in the facts and the law. No appeals court will reverse it.” She added, “The only real question is whether the president will pardon his old friend and political adviser.” Given Trump’s utter lack of impulse control, I am sure it will be soon.
So to be more precise, Democratic congressmembers asked questions and the intelligence briefers answered them to the best of their ability.
Then Trump freaked out and fired them all
Sooo.... that's totally sane

@Stormblessed Neat. Didn't know I needed it until I saw it.

mike whatever you paid for this sign, you got ripped off
which quite frankly I think is awesome (that you got ripped off)

7:14 PM
tfw your platform is four year old memes
Six, probably. I think people were joking about Trump's steak preferences from the start of his campaign.

cashing in a $5m check for my "have you ever noticed that donald trump is,,,freakin orange xD" billboard

dae trump's real last name is drumpf

@Unionhawk I do not believe Mike Bloomberg does not cheat at golf
I do believe Mike Bloomberg would pay to have the course remodeled underneath his shot to get a hole-in-one

7:47 PM
@Yuuki haha he tweeted „covfefe“ once lol
vote for relatable comedian billionaire mike

8:00 PM
FOLKS
HE'S ORANGE

@Unionhawk Speaking of orange, I made a clarified milk punch recently. I know you're more into beers, but I thought you might be interested.

@Yuuki watching a video on this hm interesting

@BradC oh did he sell some property to get more billions?

@Yuuki lol. Check out the 30 point drop in his net favorability ratings among Moderate Democrats
(which, admittedly, just means 15% of that group switched from favorable to unfavorable; but still, that's a big swing)

@BradC Ah, you mean the group of people who decide whether or not to vote based on the weather? /s

8:39 PM
I hope he spends a billion dollars before super tuesday and gets 0 delegates out of it

(To clarify her primary opponents had their websites hacked and it was by someone on the payroll for her campaign, this isn't about the revenge porn later)

TYT has apparently refused to voluntarily recognize a union so that's fun
(well, they claim that they will after a secret ballot, but, that's literally the definition of "not voluntary recognition" (anything other than "50% of your workers present signed union cards, and you immediately say yep recognized") so)

The Two York Times?

8:59 PM
the young turks, they're a progressive-ish... TV channel? I think I have them on youtube tv anyway

@Stormblessed Yeah... there's no way NBC would allow 30 whole seconds of silence.
Also, I do like Bloomberg is defaulting to "i do business, i good president" given that we're currently under the first "i am business, no politics" presidential administration and we're totally loving it so far.

9:44 PM
So, like just these 3 specific women? But definitely not those 7 other women, for, you know, excellent "reasons"?

@BradC That's effectively the same as just releasing them from the NDAs so it's weird that he's wording it that way.

> In a statement, Bloomberg said that his company, Bloomberg LP, had identified three nondisclosure agreements it had entered into with women who are thought to have accused the billionaire businessman of making inappropriate and offensive comments.
> "If any of them want to be released from their NDA so that they can talk about those allegations, they should contact the company and they’ll be given a release,” Bloomberg said.
So, like, "you three know who you are" kind of thing?
Guess its not too bad a statement, considering.

What, considering that he has NDAs with at least three women in the first place?

Of course, if those women actually do talk, then... this might not work out well
Here's the actual original statement:
Like I said, its not a bad statement, overall. But I'm not sure that this redeems him any after the disasterous debates
You can't unsee him
@Yuuki Yep. "Contact our legal department so... what, so we can try to cajole you into not actually talking?"
Not sure if it was posted here, but Warren whipped out a "release of NDA" contract last night at her CNN town hall
She's like "I used to teach contract law...."
She was all "I'll text it to him so he can sign it"
op, that's mentioned in the Hill article:
> "I used to teach contract law," Warren, a former Harvard professor, said. "And I thought I would make this easy. I wrote up a release and covenant not to sue, and all that Mayor Bloomberg has to do is download it — I'll text it — sign it, and then the women, or men, will be free to speak and tell their own stories."

10:14 PM
Ha.
> Warren isn't even president yet and she's getting shit done - @JessicaValenti
> “I don’t care, frankly, who Putin wants to be president,” Sanders said in a statement to The Washington Post. “My message to Putin is clear: Stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that you do.
Now that's the kind of statement you'd expect when someone tells you the Russians are trying to interfere, even if its in your favor

> "as president"
> "That's... the point." - Putin, probably /s

"Fears of partisanship" you say??
They're outright admitting it. There are no more fears here, just brutal cold realization of the facts
Oh, and another thing:
> President Donald Trump’s new acting intelligence director, Richard Grenell, used to do consulting work on behalf of an Eastern European oligarch who is now a fugitive and was recently barred from entering the U.S. under anti-corruption sanctions imposed last month by the State Department.
> In 2016, Grenell wrote several articles defending the oligarch, a Moldovan politician named Vladimir Plahotniuc, but did not disclose that he was being paid, according to records and interviews. Grenell also did not register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which generally requires people to disclose work in the U.S. on behalf of foreign politicians.
He shouldn't even have a fucking security clearance, let alone be in charge

@Yuuki from screenshots i have seen they are always at night and then there's that Rick and Morty Episode where they are warned to leave the planet before nightfall and by morning it seems the Purge is over
@BradC and i can bet you that dislike for any GOP Senator "loyal" to Trump, or anyone Trump likes, would be viewed as being against Trump too which if true, is that not the exact thing a Mad King would demand?
just had a mental image of a herald on the steps on the White House with the press there yelling "Hear ye! Hear ye! the grand and magnificent King of America, King Trump Eye, Proclaims that all must surrender their land for the construction of his excellency's statue and that all women must sit upon this hand once a year. Failure and opposition will be marked as treason and traitors shall be hung in the streets!"
@Yuuki well given how much Trump wants to run against Sanders, most likely Russia helping Sander's campaign is only to get him to run against Trump which might be an indicator that he wont be able to beat Trump
Sanders: Stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that you do
Putin: ha, ha, ha, ha, in Russia i do not help opponents win, i help opponents take the stage to loose to me
@BradC but his a Trump pick. when has the obvious every been a reason not for him to pick someone

10:47 PM
@Memor-X Sanders has a lot of things going against him that Republicans can exploit: his praise of Communist Cuba, his heart attack, his expensive moonshot policy plans, his atheism, his 80s TV show that Politico had digitized,...

11:46 PM
@Nzall wait what tv show?
oh that was funny
wow
he did look and sound and talk almost exactly the same
