Somehow I missed that Laura Looked was suing CAIR because she was convinced they got her kicked off Twitter, but anyway she lost because that whole story was a prank, obviously

1:26 AM
@TimStone hue
@TimStone isn’t there a Pokémon that does this?

@GodEmperorDune You're probably thinking of Cubone, but I'm pretty sure it actually wears the skull of an adult

@murgatroid99 I think it's always the skull of its mother.

Good times

@Wipqozn it is
> On its head, Cubone wears the skull of its dead mother as a helmet.

Good Christmas gift

1:54 AM
There’s still no easy web browser on the Switch...

1 hour later…

1 hour later…
4:15 AM
@TimStone yeah I heard there was an emergency board of education meeting about it

4:57 AM
@Yuuki "this is the final word from the pres of the US" lol, if only that meant he knows the jig is up

6 hours later…
@fredley lol, i was expecting that

1 hour later…
12:42 PM
The Trump campaign has already promoted a clip of Gabbard attacking the Democratic party which tbf I'm not entirely sure she was wrong but also she's an Assadist so maybe the party should just eject her already idk 🤷🏼‍♂️

@fredley 0/10 not Friday
Is their another testimony today for the impeachment hearings?
Seems to be a summary of yesterday's events for folks, like myself, missed it cbc.ca/news/world/trump-sondland-impeach-forcefield-1.5367243
Including how the GOP are already trying to dismiss it all as nonsense
Although as always
> And it seemed once again that Republicans would keep rolling their eyes at impeachment; that Trump's overall approval rating, which has not budged in 18 months, would remain mired in cement; and that if Trump gets impeached by the House, it's almost inconceivable the Republican-led Senate will remove him.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WOOOOOOOOOOOO
Everything is terrible

1 hour later…
2:05 PM
@GodEmperorDune I only now realised you inb4ed me

I don't know which one so I'm just going to take a guess and hit open in new tab
I was wrong but I shouldn't have been oh well
that makes way more sense than any world leader

They should just remove him anyway and say they don't read Twitter, since god knows he didn't bother to make an order properly
I hate the debates but,
That was a really Joe Biden moment

Wtf??
I use honey too but I don't think it's worth more than a lot of countries

Yeah, we touched briefly on that yesterday, the valuation seems really confusing but PayPal may feel differently since they already have arrangements with vendors I guess?
Since Honey makes money from the sellers directly
But if I were a Honey user I'd be super concerned about the longer term impact of the merger
Since PayPal is just kind of crappy, heh

2:21 PM
@GnomeSlice I mean, there are only 3 countries with a GDP of less than 4B: Tuvalu, Micronesia and San Marino

Big year for paypal

lmao Nunes is walking right into Fiona Hill's crossfire with this opening statement

San Marino is about 2B, next biggest is Eritrea at over 8B

What a dumbass

@TimStone yeah I don't think they were super concerned about their users when they took the 4B

2:22 PM
Oh wait, this is not an all countries video

@Nzall some countries then

Turns out there are about 30 countries with a GDP smaller than 4B

2:39 PM
Just the dumbest people

@TimStone i swear i've read that before today

2:58 PM
@TimStone slowclaps

@TimStone Doesn't that mean he, himself, wouldn't understand it?
Since he's obviously also listening on the speakerphone?
Or is this one of those, "I get my phone, you plebes can listen in on this here speaker" type of deals?

He's just saying that since Sondland didn't have him on speaker phone no one could hear what he said while sitting by Sondland
Which is just dumb
He shouts when he calls into Fox & Friends, literally no one believes this

Usually the people shouting are also the people that are hard of hearing.

Also true
But yeah, most people have overhead a phone conversation even if the phone wasn't on speaker, let's be real
Plus Sondland already said the call happened!

The GOP strategy seems to be, "shotgun anything and everything at the wall, and see what people actually seem to buy."
And then triple down on it even after it stops being believable.

3:10 PM
Just heard some of the testimony and that Sondland visibly held the phone away from his ears presumably because the President was talking so loud is hilarious.

But completely believable

Fiona Hill just told "members of the committee" that she would "ask them not to promote falsehoods promoted by Russia" re: the nonsense Nunes is on about
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
its_happening.gif

Like, it's literally the entire job of journalists to look at current events for those of us who don't have the time to do so

3:28 PM
@Nzall But it's a way to cast reporters as lazy bums, accosting the poor working stiffs who just want to do their job!

4:13 PM
> Canada voted for a UN resolution on Tuesday in support of Palestinians' right to self-determination
Canada has previously declined to substantially support the same resolution the last 14 times

> AUSTIN (KXAN) — In an arrest warrant, the wife of a vice president at Austin-based company Rooster Teeth alleges that her husband brutally attacked her on Nov. 8 and that the attack was part of a pattern of years of abuse.

The warrant states that the Travis County Sheriff’s Office believes that Michael Jonathan Quinn committed family violence through aggravated assault, a second-degree felony. This document was filed on Nov. 13.

4:30 PM
jfc
@TimStone Bribery, fraud, and breach of trust charges against Netanyahu

1 hour later…
5:45 PM
Reuters went inside the Hong Kong school reut.rs/2O5WCE7

6:02 PM
I for one am glad the government is barely limping along so we can face another shutdown just in time for Christmas

user15026
6:16 PM
@TimStone what does this mean?

Instead of settling on a new actual budget we're just going to go along with the existing one for the time being to keep the government open
Much like if you remember the last time the government shut down despite Republicans controlling the whole shebang
So there was some disagreement but for the moment no issue, they'll come back around in a month's time and then maybe there will be an issue then or maybe there won't or maybe they'll kick the can again like this time

Bloomberg has filed the paperwork to be a democratic nominee for president
I, for one, look forward to the USA being at the forefront of having all political leaders be part of the 1%.
Cyberpunk dystopian future time baaabbbbyyyy

yeah, there's no way that sign is in order either guys
I'm not an expert in the house rules but I do know Robert's, and if I were chairing I'd rule that out of order

> 0 hours since Devin Nunes followed committee rules

actually wait hold the fuck on

presses pause

0 days since "did a thing" means "constantly does the thing" not "has never done the thing"

Yes
12 mins ago, by Tim Stone
Look they aren't smart people
They just took the workplace safety sign and ran with it because they don't know how good and bad things work
Fiona Hill also made a point about not being able to fully express her anger over the situation because she notes that often when women do this they're dismissed as "being emotional"
Oh buddy bad news did you forget you don't have a government?
The Queen sitting there shaking her head, "Have you seen all of the things we've been able to get away with? All you had to do was not be a pedophile! AND YET!"
Gym Jordan getting flustered now that checks notes Holmes didn't get a megaphone out and start shouting that the President was doing crimes, I guess?

Like, why would you even include the words "keep punching" in an answer about domestic violence, not once, not twice, but three times?

This seems like a completely irrelevant aside here but also my god
@Nzall Ah Joe Biden, always being Joe Biden

user15026
1 message moved to The Bridge

user15026
DOne :)

7:07 PM
Man, I can barely figure out how to do it in a browser, let alone a phone.

user15026
I did it on browser, phone would be tricky

yeah you can do moves on mobile, but you shouldn't
and you can only do a single message afaik

7:56 PM
I'm…going to assume that it's a different poster with some non-zero number of supposed uncalled witnesses and not that they just slapped "witnesses Schiff has refused to call" under the 0

or a list of names
@TimStone also yeah they said he has "stepped down from duties" but like, what exactly does a prince of england do

Well I mean I guess we know now and it's Not Good

what duties

I think it's mostly going around to places reminding them that they were colonized at some point

oh ok then
seems like an important job

8:01 PM
He's going to demand they put him on the stand so he can start ranting until his mouth froths over

@TimStone please let this happen

I honestly don't see how else this could play out. It'll happen, and then he'll be reelected
Because we live in hell now
2016 forever blame @badp

oh god it's been 3 almost 4 years since 2016
> 0 hours since Devin Nunes's been suing a fictional cow on Twitter.

@TimStone I just hope no one realizes everything went to hell after I got a diamond.

@TimStone Prediction: he gets so angry his heart gives out.

@Frank Prerequisite: a heart.

But he's in such good shape that he's the most fit President ever, the best President, nobody better.

@TimStone Also, if he gets reelected, I wonder what the odds of him just Declaring himself the Forever Pres are, since at that point he'll have proven he can get away with literally anything.

8:49 PM
@Wipqozn Also, if he doesn't get reelected

@murgatroid99 It'll depend on who the military will be loyal to, I think.

@murgatroid99 Wanna bet that before the election, he's going to imply that if he doesn't like the results of the election he's just going to ignore it?

@Nzall He was already slanting that way prior to the 2016 election.
Positioning it so that the Deep State was preventing him from getting into power.

@Frank If the military gets involved we're already in a lot of trouble. I do still have hope that civilian law enforcement can ensure a proper turnover of power

@murgatroid99 I hope so, too. I guess I was more referring to law enforcement in general, and I hope it doesn't escalate to the military.

9:02 PM
@murgatroid99 Also that

congrats to Bill on reclaiming his title of the richest man in the world, now valued $110B. Having trouble picturing what $110B looks like? Here's a handy visual aid with some common comparison points: twitter.com/betty__cam/status/1196933769862643713

9:24 PM
@Unionhawk I think I read somewhere that Bill Gates make so much money that if he were to drop a stack of dollar bills worth 5,000 dollars while working, it would actually cost him more money in missed income from not working during those couple seconds than he would gain from picking up that money

9:43 PM
weird how these guys have such a brand of giving away tons of money and yet number go up still

@Unionhawk There's realistically a limit to how much money you can give away without running into issues with either misappropriated funding or extreme overhead
Like, if you earn a billion a year and you want to pump half of it into charity, there are AFAIK only a limited amount of charities that would be able to handle an influx of a couple million USD

psst You can start new charities

user15026
@Nzall There are a lot of charities, there are a lot of individual humans you could help. Fill people's GFMs, help everyone on DonorsChoose, etc

@Elva yeah, but again, A) Bill Gates already had an entire foundation for his charity work that he's pumping the money into for scale benefits, and B) just creating a couple hundred or thousand new charities every year causes issues where they're pretty much not gonna get funded

user15026
There's no reason that they couldn't find a way to do it.

9:54 PM
Because a charity really needs long-term supporters, and already charities are having trouble keeping donors long-term

If you set up a billion dollar fund for a charity... it don't need no supporters
Just employees
Wanna do some good locally in the US? Build a non-profit producer of medicines

@Elva I mean, that's already what Gates does

Globally? Get people to start distributing food

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), previously the William H. Gates Foundation, is an American private foundation founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. Based in Seattle, Washington, it was launched in 2000 and is reported to be the largest private foundation in the world, holding $50.7 billion in assets. The primary goals of the foundation are, globally, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, and, in the U.S., to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology. The foundation is controlled by its three trustees: Bill and Melinda Gates, and Warren Buffett....

@Nzall and yet he can also buy several countries still
Anyway I'm gonna sleep

9:57 PM
same here, I don't really want to argue about the biggest private charity foundation in the world not doing enough charitable work

user15026
....the point is not that they're not already doing good

user15026
the point is that they still have more money than any one person needs in the history of ever

The foundation also does a fair amount of bad iirc on top of like, the money came from somewhere so like, giving some of it back in a way that also helps obscure that fact isn't just in any real way
(iirc they're also involved in charter school stuff in particular)
(or that might be bill directly idk)

1 hour later…
11:34 PM
@Wipqozn that isn't the case now?
@TimStone what the fuck school did she go to?
@Unionhawk charity work
he also has this program that's run in a few universities. down here in the flaming hells Australia RMIT and Murdoch university are cutting ties with said program
> The Pitch@Palace competition aims to match young entrepreneurs with influential business leaders.
that's sounds like the reason why he said he initially did not regret his relationship with Epstein
