Hmmmm I'm not so sure about that but while I like gas stoves for their effectiveness we do seem to have a bit of a problem with gas infrastructure being explode-y and also dumb
Love too pay $13.50+processing fee each month because the central heat and only the central heat is gas powered and there's a "delivery fee" for forcing it down the pipes to my apartment

12:20 AM
@TimStone i'd get rid of that too because of the carbon monoxide risk

1:09 AM
- 60+ fires are burning, 20+ are unconstrained
- 3000+ fire fighters are on the ground
- 150 homes have been destroyed
- 3 people have been killed so far (2 died in their car while trying to escape)
- military on stand by
- almost 1 million hectares have been burned
- 3 fire districts are on Catastrophic/Code Red
and we are getting the same bullshit lines from politicans that the US gets when there's a mass shooting, ie "now is not the time to talk about this"

@TimStone so...ban gas in new construction in favour of vastly less efficient electric stoves, which are powered by natural gas plants
Big brain time in California I see

@ToxicFrog but they are attached to the same power grid that should be made more green/renewable anyway so when it changes they change along with it
also isn't Induction better than gas anyway?

1:26 AM
@Memor-X I keep forgetting that induction stoves exist because they wouldn't work with most of my cookware anyways (and because there's no such thing as an induction oven)
But fair point there

This was incredible
Crazy how the legal system works
and a fantastic musical number at the end XD

@Stormblessed going to be watching that tonight

@Unionhawk oh hey, but at least this is good news for $TSLA, who is in the lithium battery business
cool

4:42 AM
@Unionhawk while the other people aren’t good, election fraud is very bad. I think not enough is known yet to say it’s really a coup.
Calling Maduro a left-wing leader and grouping him with actual ones like AMLO and Cuba’s president, is, while in some aspects accurate, really missing a lot. He’s an utter failure and not committed to any of the actual ideals the media implies he has
Cuba’s bad, but not anywhere close to Venezuela’s state

@Ave I mean, is there anyone that's surprised by this? Google collects everything, we can only hope that they don't use it maliciously
> Project Nightingale’s data allegedly involves lab results, doctor diagnoses, hospitalization records, and more
wait, how do they have access to all of this?
I should probably read the whole article first 🤦🏼‍♀️
honestly, what's worrying is not that Google is collecting this data, but rather the fact that they have access to it without patient consent and that seems like an issue we should have with the US, rather than Google

2 hours later…
Ave
12:00 PM
@Elise yeah, this is a US issue, not a google one
not a good look for google that they're doing it regardless

12:11 PM
@Elise google docs/cloud being used for storage i assume

12:22 PM
@Stormblessed Yeah you're right, this is some other thing where the military and other violent uprising removed a left wing president
totally different

12:38 PM
@Unionhawk Even considering the fact that he was forced to resign by military and civilian uprising, in this case it's not caused by a "this is the last straw" mentality like in Tunisia or other historical uprisings, but in fact by the president attempting to abuse his presidential power in an attempt to retain that power and getting caught doing so

1:05 PM
Well in any case congratulations to Tesla I'm sure this is going to be great for working people of bolivia
I'm sure the installation of like, bolsanaro 2 will be good

1:19 PM
For the record I find it extremely frustrating to have to work on a definition level basis with folks who just buy the election fraud narrative, and will be saving this conversation for when the republican party claims that actually it was election fraud. These people lie about that all the time.
Like, you can't just be like "well, since in this case it was good, even though it is literally dictionary definition a coup, who can say what this actually is"

Q: Is there a coup going on in Bolivia?

Max RasguidoRecently Bolivia held presidential elections which were highly questioned in terms of legitimacy and led to massive protests in the country accusing the government of fraud. This situation, and the attitude/responses from government officials, led towards the protesting population escalating thei...

WORDS MEAN NOTHING COOL
THANKS TOP ANSWER THERE

@Unionhawk FWIW, other 2 answers tend to agree with you saying it's a coup

And I have created an account to upvote them.

This is Remington vs. Soto, where Remington sued the plaintiffs after the Connecticut Supreme Court allowed a lawsuit alleging Remington violated the state's Unfair Trade Practices Act to move forward

This one was just a denial of cert probably right?

Correct

the court going "this isn't worth our time, it looks like the lower court got it right"

> In a separate incident on Monday afternoon, a 57-year-old man was doused with a flammable liquid and set alight after an argument with protesters on a footbridge in Ma On Shan, police said in a statement.
jfc people
Whoever did that is fucked in the head.

@Wipqozn The wording of that statement implies that the protesters set someone on fire but "police said" is raising questions in my mind.

6:00 PM
@Yuuki Hey now, the Hong Kong police are very trustworthy. The most trustworthy.
They're making trust worthy again.

@TimStone But... that's what....words...meaning...I...
Sorry my brain just died
Rebrain me once @Yuuki is president of Teaxs

@GnomeSlice Oh, wow, that's awful :(

Royal Canadian legion made a statement around Don cherry
Also, here's an article from 1992 asking for cherry to be fired twitter.com/jbcurio/status/1194077928797212673?s=19
I knew this stuff went way back, but not this far back

@Yuuki Hey, I'm a fan of your jokes too xD

@TimStone Well that's incredibly dark and accurate.

9:49 PM
@Unionhawk lol the hashtag is apparently trending in Virginia, how is the CIA Astroturfing Department so bad at this

@TimStone that counts as Obstruction of Justice if Trump is directing people to ignore subpoenas?

@TimStone you know if it was anyone else i would be asking what was cut out where that -- there, but given it's Trump i can easily assume it's a whole lot on incoherent babbling which amounts to nothing said

@Nzall "I know! Let's send a lesson to anyone else who isn't loyal to me."

@TimStone obviously knowing what prejudice means is not one of those certain tasks that men perform better on average at

> Trump has blasted the inspector general on Twitter and indicated that he thinks Atkinson should have to testify in the impeachment inquiry alongside the whistleblower.
That'll be a fun testimony.
> Q: "Why did you send Congress the whistleblower report?"
> A: "... because that's my job?"
Given recent Republican defenses of the president, I wouldn't be surprised if they shot back with "Everyone else in this administration doesn't do their job, what's your excuse for not doing that?"

10:21 PM
@TimStone Love to chase Chinese dollars the potential of future Chinese dollars at the expense of human rights.

@Yuuki "Our President is even too incompetent to do his job. How can you do yours?"

@puzzlepiece87 something something WWE something something Saudi Arabia

@Frank This is exactly the lesson, not a joke at all. And the level of tolerance for this clearly authoritarian behavior is what makes me fear for my country's future
It used to be that "Expose corruption" necessarily lead to "problem solved" (through resignations, public pressure, etc.)
Now that the SOP is "Expose corruption" ---> (shrugs and silence)

10:36 PM
@BradC Gotten so used to corrupted individuals quitting out of shame, while they're ahead, etc., we don't know how to deal with someone who doubles down.

Exactly. Nobody quite knows what to do.
The media keeps exposing corruption, because that's what it does. But "if a tree falls in the forest..."
I still hope the Dems can pull off an impeachment, but it frankly wouldn't surprise me for that to fail. GOP is clearly "on board" no matter what
(impeachment/removal, is what I mean. Clearly they can vote to impeach, but if nobody cares, then what?)

@BradC "ofcause not because that's fake news! my tree is the strongest and also fireproof and single handily making clean air, everyone loves my tree"

Well, guess we get to see the beginning of the end starting tomorrow, live on TV
(the beginning of the end of what, remains to be seen...)

@BradC I'm not quite sure when the GOP switched over to "my team" politics, but I can't help but feel the Southern strategy (and therefore Nixon) is involved somehow.

@Yuuki Yep. Long before Trump
Good luck, all

As soon as you decide to appeal to racism to get more votes so your side has more numbers, plenty of walls start to look like doors or windows. Even if they were load-bearing walls.

Don Cherry supporters commemorated Remembrance Day this year by denouncing the Royal Canadian Legion after the veterans’ organization disavowed itself of Cherry’pressprogress.ca/… “hurtful” and “divisive” views on immigrants.
Well I fucked that up
I'm not good at mobile chat
> Some even suggested they will stop buying poppies on Remembrance Day altogether to show their solidarity with the disgraced broadcaster.
Hmm. Okay. That's certainly a
. I give up
