@Wipqozn when’s the election?
Oh Monday

12:43 AM
@Ash Canadian Trump?

12:56 AM
@Wipqozn that was what cgp grey suggested, think the line was "never underesitame the desire to avoid paperwork"

It's fairly apparent from the subject but the story gets exceedingly grim, so, you know, warning about that :/
Buddy that's the part you're not supposed to say

1:31 PM
@TimStone holy shit.

user15026
@TimStone you just said the quiet part out loud dude

@Ash Yeah, it's Pretty Bad :(
The part at the end where the Chinese handwave it away by saying "It's totally above board, look at all the positive comments we've gotten from other nations" who are benefiting economically is just, urgh
Not that international criticism would necessarily stop them but the lack of it makes it just so easy to be dismissive of these clear human rights abuses

user15026
Yeah, that's just really gross on top of the horrifying awful.

1:46 PM
@TimStone and he's blaming the media and Democrats

> Mark Esperanto, Secretary of Defense, “The ceasefire is holding up very nicely. There are some minor skirmishes that have ended quickly. New areas being resettled with the Kurds.” USA soldiers are not in combat or ceasefire zones. We have secured the Oil. Bringing soldiers home!
Esperanto? Which oil? And by bringing home you mean moving them to Iraq?

2:08 PM
@MadScientist yep, it's time for the US to stop fighting in endless wars.......just after they finish the endless war in Iraq first

2:37 PM
@MadScientist lol Esperanto
Okay this is bad because since someone handles the product they could check (but we know workers are penalized for taking extra time, so it's not on them), but…this is not at all a problem unique to Amazon, lol
Everyone is terrible at stock rotation
I picked something off the shelf at the grocery store yesterday and it had expired in March 🤦🏼‍♂️
Earlier in the summer I got some drinks from a different grocery store and was like "Hm this seems a bit off" and then realized it had expired in November of 2018

Faculty at Cape Breton University vote to strike cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/…
> The main sticking point appears to be wages. Calvin Howley, president of the Cape Breton University Faculty Association, said Friday the university's offer of a 1.5 per cent annual wage increase is insufficient.
> "If you go back three years ago, we were facing layoffs, declining enrolment, deficits, and yet the union was able to negotiate a 1.25 percent annual wage increase," said Howley.

> He said since the last contract negotiation, the university has seen enrolment increase by 67 per cent and millions of dollars in surplus.

3:25 PM
@MadScientist That's a 404

He probably eventually deleted it on account of spelling Mark Esper's name wrong

I'm a little surprised at the possibility of Trump deleting his own tweets.

4:05 PM
Omg that's terrible, they're just going to make everything worse

4:18 PM
@TimStone I work dairy in a grocery store and can confirm. Recently there was a push for stock rotation being high priority (which makes sense), but now it takes that much longer to work the order and we get told off for not getting everything done on time. And many workers still don't rotate, because they only do dairy once a week at most
and some people don't even check the dates when they're working old stock and end up filling the shelf with expired food 🤦🏼‍♀️

> Green Leader Elizabeth May said in a release Sunday that if her party is elected Monday, it will be the last federal government in Canada chosen by the first-past-the-post system.
> "It flies in the face of fairness that 16- and 17-year-olds are old enough to work and pay taxes but are not allowed to vote for the government that spends that tax revenue," May said.
> May also said a Green government would have Elections Canada develop a framework to fight dishonest campaign advertising, claiming that "current political parties seem to be able to lie with impunity."
I mean they won't win, but I'm glad she'll remain a voice for getting us off this terrible system
If Liberals + NDP (+ green?) form government, then I plan to contact my local rep right away saying they need to revisit election reform (Aka don't fucking sabotage it this time).

9:30 PM
Lowering the voting age is something you don't often hear proposed.
The argument makes sense though. It is literally taxation without representation.

Most countries have it set at 18, but there are few with 16 and 17.
@RedRiderX It does. Although it's not an issue I find myself hugely concerned with. It's May's continued commitment to election reform that I like.

@Wipqozn This is one of my biggest beefs during this election.

Although I suppose technically that's voting reform too...

All I hear are attack ads. Nobody's willing to actually commit to a platform, other than, "That guy is the worst. Don't vote for him. Vote for us."

10:17 PM
@TimStone with baby formula do what the Chinese do, come to Australia and set up a syndicate to buy our formula to ship to overseas

@Elise When I worked for walmart years ago, I got yelled at for this; almost no-one buys the store-brand chips; the shelf was never empty - but we got a box or two of every flavour every day without fail. You don't want expired chips? stop sending us so many!
