Interesting read about the Canadian election
> The Liberals are promising young voters an improved first-time home buyer benefit and tax-free parental leave. The Tories are promising a "universal" tax cut and tax credits for kids enrolled in sports and the arts. The NDP is touting more public housing and a national child-care program. The Greens want everyone to have a guaranteed livable income and access to child care.
Essentially talks about why all the parties seems focused so strongly on families this election. more than usual, anyways.
> [Liberals] also promised a new 15-week leave program for adoptive parents, a new benefit that will be welcomed by some in the LGTBQ community, a key Liberal voting demographic.

CNN invited Lewandowski on
I don't even have anything smart to say about it, it's just absurd

@TimStone I'm not sure who thar is, but I'm going to guess someone who should be considering moving into the sea.

@Wipqozn A helpful play in three acts, but actually it's four acts because the first was him being on Trump's campaign and physically assaulting a reporter
Anyway having him on is going Super Swell as you'd expect

12:27 PM
@TimStone I really hope that if the PC party wins, they don't kill the CBC. I'm confident they're a large part of why Canadian news seems way better than wgsf you have. Since, you know, other stations need to compete with their quality.

It's just depressing because it implies there are people who are excited to see the back and forth even though it has absolutely zero value

Essentially, not all views or people deserve a platform. Giving every shithole a platform jusr lends then credibility, since it implies their views have enough credibility to be worth listening to.
I'm not fixing any other typos haha

> Sen. Mike Folmer, a Republican who played a key role in legalizing medical marijuana in the commonwealth, was charged with possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility
Does that last part imply he did it at work and/or at a library? >_>

12:49 PM
@TimStone Don't forget public schools!

Ave
@Wipqozn yuck yuck yuck

1:09 PM
Saying "there's no press here" while standing in front of a video camera while the mic picks up all the shutters going off in the background is just incredible trolling of checks notes a father whose child is sick

what's the analysis here, bad to worse? bad to regular republican?

Robert C. O'Brien is an American lawyer who has worked privately and with the United States government. He is currently serving as the United States National Security Advisor and is an ambassador with the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, as well as a partner at Larson O'Brien LLP, a Los Angeles-based boutique law firm. == Early Life == Born in Los Angeles, California, O'Brien attended Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, California. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree...

@Unionhawk I actually don't know. I mean, the latter obviously, but

He wrote a book that apparently inspired Trump's foreign policy

@TimStone looks pretty regular
did Mitt Romney and Scott Walker (lol)
did some stuff under W
three cool and regular guys

1:49 PM
That's the review of the book he wrote
> Robert’s book is a series of essays written over the last five years detailing where we have come up short and what fixes we need to make. His book warns of the dangers of a hollow military force, especially a numerically short navy, the dangers posed by a resurgent China, and the dangers of Islamic extremism.

(and tbf John did Reagan, HW, W, Newt, etc)

He also freed A$AP Rocky
(*attempted to meddle with the Swedish legal system by threatening them)

Lynne Patton has been reprimanded for multiple Hatch Act violations with a warning letter, which is weak sauce and still not as funny as her getting stuck in an elevator
Ahhh classic Ben Shapiro complaining about the Ed Buck story being hidden by the leftist media or whatever by linking to checks notes the story about it on CNN

4:36 PM
leftists have been on the "UHHH, HEY GUYS ARE Y'ALL JUST GOING TO PROTECT THIS GUY? YEAH? UHH" train the whole time what the fuck

Been wildly gesturing like "That dude is killing black men what the hell someone stop him" for months and the police finally rolled up
The Daily Wire article is just basically a Hill-level piece linking again to major news sources so real genius brain there Ben

4:51 PM
According to that Israeli source anyway? I'm not seeing it elsewhere yet

So we all theorized that Donald Trump, who already looks like a melted wax figure, would be unrecognizable due to presidential aging. What if he's figured out the secret? Instead of the presidency aging him by 10 years, he's aged the rest of us by 20?

8:13 PM
lol doj has indicted gab poster Daniel McMahon (known on gab as Jack Corbin, noted chris cantwell reply guy)

@Unionhawk looooooool

9:49 PM
@fredley hooooooooly shit

user15026
@Wipqozn I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FOREVER AND EVER.

Original title: Non-binary pronoun ‘they’ added to Merriam-Webster dictionary
I prefer my title though

user15026
I know people will still say "oh the MW is not the OED" but WHATEVER I DONT CARE THIS IS GOOD

@Ash Really? I couldn't tell :p

9:53 PM
@Wipqozn giggles I'll use a megaphone next time

user15026
(Sorry, this is just...validation I needed today.)

@Ash Yeah I figured you'd enjoy this

user15026
It is pretty cool and I thank you very much for sharing it.

user15026
(I also love the number of people in my life who have shared this with me today.)

@fredley jfc.
I expect this to generate lots of drama, and for people to get angry at the children.
@Ash you're welcome! I was listening to an interview on the CBC with someone from marriam-webster talking about it.

user15026
9:58 PM
@Wipqozn That's very cool.

@fredley Also, this is even better on a rewatch, and seeing all the things in the background you missed.
They did a really fantastic job. Not that it'll make a difference, but damn.
@Ash It is! I didn't catch most of it, just the start. The jist was that their decision was based on the fact it's obviously used that way, there's no denying it, so time to update the dictionary.
And since, you know, language is based on usage, that's the most important thing.

user15026
That's terrific.

10:30 PM
@Unionhawk Seems to be a rather open question of why he went to study politics & government specifically at a racially segregated university in South Africa at the height of Apartheid tho 🤔

user15026
@fredley Holy shit. I hate, hate, hate that this has to be a thing.

11:38 PM
@TimStone at this point we might as well be betting on who isn't going to violate that......or at the very least who will be the last caught
@TimStone they're getting the fuck out before their home in Area 51 is broken into by a bunch of idiots

Canadian NDP Leader for those unaware
