The Alliance of American Football, commonly referred to in brief as AAF or The Alliance, was a professional American football league, founded by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian. The AAF consisted of eight centrally owned and operated teams, all in the southern and western United States. All teams except Birmingham were located in metropolitan areas with at least one major professional sports franchise.
