12:37 AM
Former SCOTUS Justice John Stevens has died aged 99

@TimStone yeah
lol

12:56 AM
> The national survey, conducted on Monday and Tuesday after Trump told the lawmakers they should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” showed his net approval among members of his Republican Party rose by 5 percentage points to 72%, compared with a similar poll that ran last week.
Just your daily reminder that the GOP are, in fact, horribly racist.

The ironic part is, though, that if, yes, those ladies go back to their country and help fix them...they can skip the travel part, and point out to Mr. Moron that they're doing exactly what he told them to.

@Frank yeh just whenever i keep reading that i can't help but wonder if Trump might be making an message at the people screaming "I AM FUCKING UP THE US! STOP ME!"

@Memor-X I think that's giving him far too much credit.

@Frank yeh
but man is John Oliver going to regret taking a month off from Last Week Tonight
some of those tweets
> #ObamaWasBetterAt Hosting Champions
*shows Trump with hamberders*

,,,,xD

1:26 PM
Trump is tweeting something about directions on shampoo bottles

@MadScientist source? don't see it on his twitter
His twitter talks about Greenville

oh right, it's a reply

2:04 PM
He's also apparently a quoting Sen. John Kennedy

2:17 PM
Not that anyone who cares didn't already know but MSNBC got footage of Trump partying with Epstein and being grabby with women
The comments are as you might expect so I'd just avoid the replies

2:56 PM
@TimStone Wow that's... pretty on-point. I mean, its not quite a "grab 'em by the (bleep)" tape, but... its pretty close

3:28 PM
Most American kids want to be vloggers which I would respect as a creative art pursuit if the most famous people on YouTube weren't largely jackasses

@TimStone Did you know how to become an astronaut when you were 7? Because I didn't, even though I wanted to be one.
Being a YouTuber seems pretty straightforward.

That could be a factor, yeah

Also, I imagine vlogging to be a bit more of a dangerous endeavor in China as opposed to the US.
Granted, that depends on what you're vlogging.
But certain things will definitely be off-limits.

> Global warming: Screw @TimStone in particular.

The heat index for the weekend, mind you, not the base temperature, but ughhhh. For those playing along in (everywhere else) that's 43.9° C

4:45 PM
@TimStone That's, "screw the outdoors" weather.

I was going to say burn it all down but I guess we kind of are

user15026
@TimStone Nooo thank you

Really not a fan of how you can go hundreds of miles south and somehow be in a cooler place

user15026
5:10 PM
yeah that's...not great :P

@TimStone Houston's going to be in the low 90s this weekend.

5:33 PM
@TimStone ... does this man not remember all the foot-washing going on in the Bible?
Like, I distinctly remember Jesus offering to wash other people's feet and then refusing when someone wanted to wash his feet.

@Yuuki Someone washed Jesus' feet too, for the record. Literally with hair and tears.

6:09 PM
@TimStone Conservatives have a lot in common with toddlers

@TimStone How would employees not know if their company has acquired another company? Isn't this stuff usually pretty big news?

@TimStone Well, it's only about two months before everyone starts throwing out their "#NeverForget" tweets.
So we'll see how that goes for him.
Also, how is that name not a trademark violation?
I mean, yes, "flicks" is a general colloquialism but "-flix" not so much.

@PrivatePansy Private acquisitions are probably easier to facilitate, but the article talks about how the company has a bizarre structure to begin with

user15026
I knew about Passionflix being a thing, I had no idea it was his sister tho

7:09 PM
Gradual rollout gated on user geo rather than user id hash, I guess?
Seems like a weird way to do it.

7:39 PM
@ToxicFrog In one of my previous company we use geographically distributed servers, so the AU server cluster was our beta cluster because it is the smallest cluster
Twitter is big and international enough that geo doesn't make much sense though

Maybe they just like Canada

user15026
We are pretty great

@PrivatePansy yeah, like here when we're testing/gradually rolling out something it's generally not "everyone who hits this datacenter", it's "everyone whose user ID hashes to something ending in 3" or whatever.

@TimStone Scott "Let's Not Pay Teachers" Walker to run an educational institute?

Could have just left him out in the woods or whatever taking boring photos but we're doing this for some reason

The elected district attorney ran on a reformist platform, and was doing a damn good job. Couldn't have that, so they've legislated the ability to prosecute certain laws only at the AG level.
