cc @warrendavidson
the bitcoin congressman

@TimStone That is a shockingly coherent statement

12:52 AM
@murgatroid99 Obviously written by an aid

1:05 AM
Whelp guess we're gonna do something about detentions in China now that a Koch Industries executive was held

1:43 AM
URGENT: Tropical Storm Barry Phone Zap "As Tropical Storm Barry threatens Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas over 65,000 people behind prison bars and in detention centers lie directly in it’s path with no ability to evacuate."
Reports are that ICE raids will begin Sunday in various US cities. Know your rights, and help fund RAICES if you can

2 hours later…
3:21 AM
Trump is busy uhh checks notes attacking Paul Ryan and I don't even know why
Oh, apparently he has some book where he admits he had no idea what he was doing? Which seems extra funny for anyone that took him seriously
Somehow he was arrested by NYPD detectives…in Chicago? (but also the FBI, since these are federal charges)

3:45 AM
@TimStone i wonder if they've been sitting on this for awhile or only started looking into it after that doco
ummm, ok so a guy went on a misogynist tirade in Bagel Boss. he also has a youtube channel full other him yelling at people and being very bigoted

yesterday, by Tim Stone
I have watched the Bagelboss incident videos and my life is not better for this
(as a warning for others)

4:19 AM
I watched them out of curiosity after seeing that and you are absolutely right

4:42 AM
@Nik3141 yeh i heard the reason why he stood down because Borris Johnson, being the ever Trump kiss ass, couldn't even answer if he would support the guy at the debate with Jeremy Hunt

12:46 PM
weird it's almost like this isn't just some subculture of this particular arm of the department of homeland security
hmm weird I wonder why the liberals scrapped any plans to move away from FPTP
:thonk:

1:20 PM
@Unionhawk Seriously. Easily the thing his parties down that frustrates me the most. Even just switching to ranked ballot woukd make this election less stressful.

1:47 PM
I'm going to spend the next 7 hours of my work day figuring out if this counts as iron law of institutions or not

2:37 PM
@Wipqozn Not a fan that he completely abandoned a campaign promise.

@Frank I mean, I honestly didn't believe that anyways. The whole process was just designed to make it fail.

@Wipqozn Which is definitely a major mark against him.

@TimStone And that's number 48. 2 more and Trump gets a free Sundae

I'm not a fan of the messaging he's using, either; "It's me, or this scary dude over here."

2:43 PM
Note that a bunch of them have been given funny names as jokes

3:01 PM
@TimStone geoblocked in EU

Wow, they still haven't fixed that? But anyway, it's mostly what it says in the blurb there; the extent of what he did involved threatening to kill a 10 year old unless she sent him nude photos, super frickin' gross

@TimStone we need commercial space flights so we can send these pricks to the sun
i hope he was also put onto the sex offender registry

3:16 PM
@Memor-X why are you even giving this guy screentime
Don't spread garbage like that
Lol

:51003134 removed now

I took care of it. Nothing to see here behind the curtain. There definitely isn't a wizard hiding.

all good
whoosh!

:eyes:
Oh I'm dumb I thought this was bridge so I was confused why I didn't have a history button lol

3:40 PM
Trump is reportedly looking to just DNI Dan Coats too, although I'm not sure why now as opposed to any time prior. Unless he's causing issue for Barr trying to make up excuses to go after people involved in the Mueller investigation
Oh he wants to replace him with someone who has gone on Lou Dobbs to complain about Coats recently
In retrospect that was the obvious dumb explanation I guess

user15026
@Unionhawk that's some terrifying shit

@TimStone Seems like a perfect time for a good compromise.

4:26 PM
Indeed, so naturally I can't wait to be disappointed

4:38 PM
@TimStone please consider the above to be a linked reply

Sorry the school filter is blocking it can you summarize?
The indefinite military detention is supposed to be bad correct? So Amash's amendment should be good, and the Democrats voted to keep the ability for people to be held indefinitely?
Interesting interesting...

50 of them but yes

Unfortunate
Very unfortunate

Yeah, even if you're very pro putting enemy combatants in military prison, there's not really any justification for not just giving them a trial unless you can't prove they're bad people, in which case there's no reason to detain them

And I mean you can't really be tried per se for being an enemy combatant. You have to commit a war crime or a human rights abuse.
Well I mean from the military's eyes you probably can
But in international law not really, and especially if you can't prove that the person is an enemy combatant you definately can't hold them.

6:10 PM
It's generally some terrorism charge that they're being held under, fwiw

Yeah

@TimStone what's the tally on this one like 60?
blue no matter who btw :)

That seems about right, I assume the vote was similar to that for Amash's amendment
> Reporter denies Trump's accusation that he paid Paul Ryan for a critical interview

yeah ryan "the guy who beat up a car" whoever and all his friends
plus, idk

I'm sorry but that's genuinely funny because the whole basis is that Paul Ryan is so incompetent his only option is to take money to say bad things about Trump

6:19 PM
@TimStone The link is missing. If you have a link obviously.

Nah, there's not much else of substance to go along with it other than that sentence

Oh ok

all right god dammit I have to find out who the 12 are

Seems weird everyone can so easily get behind that (which they should!), and not like, all the other stuff, to help people

6:21 PM
I know this isn't directly a news item, but
what can we do about climate change?
Like actually besides recycling and saving water and turning off the lights.

@Unionhawk Amash and 11 Republicans
ARRINGTON, AMASH, BROOKS (Ala), BIGGS, BUCK, CLOUD, GOSAR, HICE (Ga), HARRIS, MASSIE, J. ROSE, NORMAN according to some rando replies

It seems the administration is putting together some deal by which Guatamala will act as a processing place for asylum applications to the US as part of an agreement that would declare it the first "safe" country for people traveling north
Seems like the kind of thing that will go very wrong very quickly, but I guess the point is to make it seem like that's not our fault

Yeah if you've got a bunch of vulnerable migrants with virtually no legal protections in one location things are bound to go wrong

1 hour later…
8:04 PM
Let's see, who is replacing Acosta? …Oh, this guy, hm

8:56 PM
I'm hoping that ellipsis is doing a lot of work because if those two lines are close together the lack of self-awareness is blinding
I'm not sure what the most useful metric to rank that against is? As of Q1 they had $45.2 billion cash on hand, though, which is easily-accessible money

@TimStone ... How do companies even have 45B dollars in cash (assuming you mean a checkings account with that)

The technical answer is by not paying very much in taxes, but :P

1 hour later…
user15026
@TimStone yes, context is supremely racist, but I am like "I kinda want the puppet"

Just gonna go out on a limb and say that when your concentration camps are so bad that the VP's propaganda tour can't avoid showcasing that they are quite bad then maybe stop doing that idk

user15026
11:24 PM
It's the fact they specifically say about brushing their teeth that gets me, like that's so damn basic of a thing to be denied.

Also Bernie Sanders and Lloyd Blankfein are feuding on Twitter
Yeah :/
