lmao but also god we are an unhealthy society
On the flip side though one of the sons (-in-law) will surely be indicted for something at some point
Not even necessarily related to anything now but they all enjoy crimes far too much and are not very bright and despite being wealthy aren't even that appealing to everyone else so you gotta figure it'll probably happen

@TimStone Wealth has a way of making people stupid.
Because they can just buy their way out of stuff.

1:36 AM
@TimStone at the same time, our justice system is REALLY BAD at giving consequences to rich people for doing crimes

Yeah but I just think they're particularly dopey so there's a chance

> The superstar of music, stage and screen made her statement after coming under withering criticism on social media for telling a British newspaper that two men who say they were abused as children by Jackson were "thrilled to be there" and that the alleged abuse "didn't kill them."
> Deep into a wide-ranging interview with the Times of London, Streisand was quoted as saying she "absolutely" believed the accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who make their allegations in the recent HBO documentary Leaving Neverland. But she also raised eyebrows by saying Jackson's "sexual needs were his sexual needs."
> She added a note of implicit criticism of the boys' parents: "The single most important role of being a parent is to protect their children. It's clear that the parents of the two young men were also victimized and seduced by fame and fantasy."

this is a pretty strange humanitarian aid strategy

THREAD: Week after the NZ terror attack, day after Anti-Racism day - Toronto Police guard an anti-islam demonstration downtown Northern Guard, Soldiers of Odin, PEGIDA and Jewish Defence League were present and attempted to march. They were shut-down.#topoli #cdnpoli #onpoli

@Unionhawk I am glad they managed to shut it down. I had some friends that were going to go help with that.

@Unionhawk That's quite the biased tweet.
> The police escort PEGIDA in the other direction, but are quickly cut off. Antifa + Allies have now flanked PEGIDA, with only police +bikes as a barrier. They stand still for some time.
Of course the police escorted them out after that. They were trying to prevent a riot.
and the anti-islamd group is currently shoved into a subway
Trying to silence the drummer seems like bullshit, but tbh this tweeter is so obviously biased it's hard for me to judge if there's more context around it.

@Unionhawk How the hell did PEGIDA get to Canada? I thought that was purely a German thing

@TimStone oh, my heart.

Yeah :(

@Wipqozn you caught me, I am biased against racists and people who protect racists
@MadScientist this is a good question, considering at that point it's North Americans not Europeans

The acronym is German, so it's really odd to me that it's used outside Germany

Rev Joseph McGowan, 70, says he loves Trump because he’s a man of the people. I asked how he could be a man of the people when he was so rich and came from a rich family. “He’s an American success story”
🤔
Like I could see saying his parents were an American success story (even though 🙄) but not sure what you do with anyone that thinks Trump didn't have a foot up there
Of course on the flip side most people aren't carrying a big flag outside Trump Tower so maybe that's not so critical. Or maybe it is, we'll find out!

The University of Maryland Medical System paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for Mayor Catherine Pugh's "Healthy Holly" books, but virtually no copies are to be found, and no one has produced documentation about their production and distribution. http://bit.ly/2FvHDiq

NOW: DOJ official says the Hill has been alerted that they will receive the letter from AG Barr about Mueller's "principal conclusions" in 30-45 minutes
Who's ready for the President to get Very Online about how he did nothing wrong?
Weird: We don’t know who paid the $6.5 million bribe — the biggest one — in the college admissions scandal. Prosecutors won’t say who it was, and that sum hasn’t been linked to any of the current defendants. https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-college-admissions-bribe-fixer-20190324-story.html

@Nzall goddammit ICE and CBP
@TimStone 6.5 million is getting into legal donation to guarantee admission range
depending on the school, of course

7:37 PM
The Department of Justice “determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgement.”
“The Special Counsel states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.’”
This would be kind of awkward if a majority of the country thought the President was a doer of crimes
tl;dr, Special Counsel says that no one associated with the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in an effort to undermine the election
With regard to the question about obstruction of justice, the Special Counsel gives it a shruggie
And basically punts to Congress
This outcome isn't unexpected, but I don't know what you're supposed to call what they did

7:54 PM
@TimStone That's...gotta be iffy.

@TimStone It's the same that happened with Nixon. he got caught on obstruction of justice, not on conspiring with the Watergate Burglars

@TimStone I wonder how much of that is spin. The report does state this, it's quoted in the letter. But there might still be some details about the whole Trump Tower meeting stuff in the report

@TimStone am i reading this wrong or does the letter say that there was no obstruction judgement because the president did all his obstructiony wildness publicly rather than privately?

But the letter doesn't look good, they're saying that they are not going to prosecute for obstruction of justice

@GodEmperorDune I mean it's more that Rosenstein and Barr, both who have conflicts of interest in deciding whether the President obstructed justice, decided that the president didn't obstruct justice

8:01 PM
@TimStone looking forward to my boi adam schiff then

I mean the flip side of the coin though is that if the President wasn't intentionally obstructing justice he was just…doing shit for kicks? Which like, okay?

The public stuff alone should be obstruction of justice, and there's probably some non-public stuff as well. The bar seems to be set impossibly high

It's probably non-trivial to legally charge the President with obstruction of justice into the investigation of the thing we're also saying he didn't do
But it's a little odd too to say that they didn't do it but also say that people on the other side were rightfully charged for their actions

@TimStone As far as I understand, that particular part doesn't matter
If the Republicans can spin this whole thing as a win, this is going to get ugly.

Presumably the angle is that any influence any external party had was unwitting on the part of the people involved, which?
@MadScientist I mean it matters in so much as the burden of proof to show he did the thing he had no supposed reason to do seems rather high
He could certainly have done it regardless but it seems like a weird crime to do if you don't have a reason to
@MadScientist Oh, they absolutely will. This will be awful and this was all entirely expected which makes it worse

8:06 PM
@MadScientist the report could've been "trump did crimes. Here they are with all the evidence" and republicans would still spin that as a win

@GodEmperorDune They would try anyway, but in this case they have much better chances of succeeding
There's still a bit of hope that the full report is much more damning than the letter indicates

I mean a number of people lied about their interactions in an effort to cover up the thing we're saying wasn't an issue so that seems awfully suspect
It would be unsurprising to find out that there's a non-zero amount of circumstantial evidence but nothing that would be strong enough to actually make the claim of conspiracy or coordination
White House reaction:
Narrator: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Great line → "Even in circumstances where the news is good for them," @KatyTurNBC says, of @PressSec et alia, "they have to be incorrect."

9:53 PM
@TimStone oh good. they haven't lost their touch at flat out lying since Barr's summary said that it doesn't exonerate Trump
