I am just going to have to say it: Stephen Miller is such a bad look for the administration, let alone any tv shows that ever put him on talking his nonsense.
I demand Thunderdome!

New from me + @BrandyZadrozny: The guy behind #GoFundTheWall didn't mention the right-wing sites he owned that were banned by Facebook two months ago, or his Fight4FreeSpeech group (also accepting donations!) in his GoFundMe for the wall. I asked him. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/founder-viral-fundraiser-trump-s-border-wall-has-fake-news-n950636

@GodEmperorDune lol

@Wipqozn :(

@GodEmperorDune And by a huge margin too :/

> The official ‘no’ side also campaigned heavily on the fears that proportional representation would lead to fringe parties with extreme views and that rural communities would be under-represented under a new system.
hmmm
i can tell you that we have first past the post here and yet have a fringe party with extreme views right now
i wish their power was proportional to how many votes they got

12:59 AM
@GodEmperorDune Yeah I've never bought that argument

the rural communities getting less representation is probably true, if they have less population then they won't have as strong a voice for local stuff

Rural communities not being properly represented can be a concern, but on the flip side rural communities are arguably overrepresentaed in the current system compared to urban communities.

@Wipqozn yeah going from overrepresented to properly represented means less power for rural communities and political parties that cater to that demographic, for sure

Citing safety as their top concern, middle schools in two Iowa districts will teach every student to use a gun. Not so fast, says the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Hm
I'm torn on this one! Like the mere act of being taught about guns is not necessarily bad even if the goal is less guns, especially if you're in an area that has a lot of guns
But also it will almost definitely be about having more guns

@TimStone what sort of weird take is this, i thought it might be for a previous year but it is not... dafuq?

It is indeed not, no, lol
I mean she did wear a bullet necklace so I guess we shouldn't expect much better but still

ZOTUS are you kidding me what the hell https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/20/us/politics/zachary-fuentes-coast-guard-retirement.html
> Mr. Fuentes told colleagues that after his mentor, John F. Kelly, left his job as chief of staff at the end of the year, he would “hide out” at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House, for six months, remaining on the payroll in a nebulous role. Then, in July, when he had completed 19 years of service in the Coast Guard, Mr. Fuentes — an active-duty officer — would take advantage of an early retirement program

ZOTUS? wtf is that

Are you ready?

@BunsGlazing saw this would be coming sooner or later, that "are you over 18? yes | no but i want bewbs and cats so i hit yes" has been woefully inadequate for what it was appeared to try to do

Agreed

question though, these age verification cards, they are still anonymous right?

12:12 PM
it's quite futile to try any of that in a global context unless you can actually do it like China and wall off your part and persecute people that circumvent the rules

@Memor-X That's a good question actually. I would assume so?

and WTF, one of the system uses a blockchain?

@MadScientist true because there are VPNs but then again this might lead to porn sites trying to push for better age verification outside the UK

@MadScientist boobcoin?

@Ave git is already distributed, I think you mean distributed zero-trust zero-performance git~

@puzzlepiece87 just finished, misleading headline

@GodEmperorDune How so?

@puzzlepiece87 the experiment was about estimating dot density, it seems like a big leap to go from evaluating your performance estimating dot density to mistakes made in other areas
the sample also seems small for me and radicalizaton level was established by survey questions
surveys are not that good imo

you mean like how political compass will place most reasonable people on left libertarian
This also implies that the left has ever made a tactical error, which as we all know is not correct. Not accepting comments, critiques, or corrections on this

7:46 PM
anyway i am perfect in all things and also a radical so...

@GodEmperorDune I will disagree with you here. I do agree with you that no experiment is perfect, but you're imo glossing over the fact that estimating dot density was done to control for other factors. In addition, you said the headline was misleading, when really you're saying the experimental quality was weak, and also small sample usually means less than 100 for psychology, not 400. Again, certainly not the best experiment ever, but I disagree that there was anything substantially wrong with it.

THERAPIST: your problem is, that youre perfect, and everyone is jealous of your good posts, and that makes you rightfully upset. ME: I agree

So, in sum, a single GOP congressman is blocking a bill that would help combat horrifying levels of violence against Native women. It would pass the House if it got a vote. It doesn't cost any additional federal $. But Goodlatte, who is retiring, won't let it go. (12/14)

@GodEmperorDune I suspect its the usual education/degree = skilled problem

user15026
aka its the same shit you see about trades too, but farm work is worse

user15026
(although man the numbers of farmers I know with agri degrees....)

user15026
but yeah, it is a skill to know how to pick fruit/veg quickly and not damage the plant, etc.

@Ash and this is a skill specific to each plant, so you need to learn a new one if you switch to a different crop

user15026
@GodEmperorDune Exactly

And to do it quickly because as the thread points out, this is usually paid piecework

user15026
(and even if it isn't, there's still an expectation of how much you should have done per x period of time)

@Ash what does an agri degree cover? is it like farm management and planning crop rotations and stuff or growing individual things?

Schumerland readout

@Ash or because there is a limited time window between underripe and overripe and all the stuff needs to get picked in the middle

user15026
@GodEmperorDune Basically, anything you need to run a farm. I've heard people taking business courses, stuff about crops, animal husbandry, all sorts of stuff.

user15026
9:30 PM
@GodEmperorDune That too!

user15026
All this stuff that no one thinks about, they just assume it magically shows up at teh dang grocery store

farming is complicated

user15026
@GodEmperorDune It really is.

user15026
I grew up around farm people. Most of my family is farm people.

user15026
It is hard work.

Mentally and physically.

Outgoing Defense Secretary James Mattis shaking hands with the outgoing chief of staff John Kelly today.

@Ash the physically i knew, the mentally... i just assumed it was that magical looking at a melon and knowing if it was ripe or not
