Trump ex-rivals like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis praised Trump a lot during the Republican National Convention. As is known to many people, both Nikki Haley and...
So there are a lot of headlines/inside scoops about people urging Biden to step aside for the sake of the party, that his chances against Trump are decreasing, not increasing, etc. Oddly, there is little discussion of who would replace him on the ticket, and their practical chances against Trump
I mean, the obvious option is Harris, and there is some recent chat about that:
@BradC The progressives have stood by Biden and it's the best option now. I do believe Kamala has the potential. But unless serious ailments occur, Biden should run and all those fuss must end.
I'll be frank; I'd vote for a golden retriever if it had a D by its name; not to mention I'm in a deep red state where my presidential vote is extremely unlikely to matter. But if Biden is losing the support of his party, that's not nothing
@User1865345 I mean yeah, if he's going to do that, sooner rather than later is best, but we've already had all the primaries, so... does that just make it a free vote at the Democratic convention?? How does that work?
> one close friend of Biden speaking anonymously said, “His choice is to be one of history’s heroes, or to be sure of the fact that there’ll never be a Biden presidential library… I pray that he does the right thing. He’s headed that way.”
@Fredy31 folks are good at trivialising everything.
Nevertheless, I feel really sorry for Biden. Joe's first term was better than Obama's two terms combined considering how slim the majority was for the former.
I'm working on a short story for publication in a local newspaper (Anchorage Daily News, preferably) as quickly as I can get it written. It starts with an earthquake and an electoral tie (268-268) in the 2024 election. It ends with Alaska Senator Murkowski (R) and Representative Peltola (D) teaming up to endorse Biden (or whoever the Democratic candidate is), in a revote in districts whose ballots were destroyed.
If anyone wants to play in that process, which is morphing in my head now into something I could play as scripts for shorts in the form of news clips, I'll post a link to a shared Google doc in a bit.
