Q: When Trump ex-rivals, who previously gave Trump terrible comments, now turn to praising him, what benefits could they gain?

No OneSource: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/nikki-haley-ron-desantis-ex-rivals-draw-cheers-trump-boosters-gop-conv-rcna162249 Trump ex-rivals like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis praised Trump a lot during the Republican National Convention. As is known to many people, both Nikki Haley and...

Let me guess, they lack moral spine.
> You are a total sellout with no spine.

Everyone is talking about keeping Trump's 17 years old granddaughter away from Matt Gaetz.

Tenants told to vacate Winnipeg apartment without warning on Friday cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/…
They tossed out their belongings too. Why are so many landlords complete fucking trash human beings?
Province 'outraged' by evictions it says were illegal at Winnipeg apartment block cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/…
> She said doing things like entering a suite or seizing tenants' property without permission could result in fines for landlords.
Fines? That's called theft
Everyone involved in this should face life in prison. Fuck them.
1:38 PM
hard to feel sympathy for landlords doing it tough when they pull shit like this
1:57 PM
@Wipqozn wtf
@Wipqozn then what? Won't there be any actions against these rowdy landlords?
So there are a lot of headlines/inside scoops about people urging Biden to step aside for the sake of the party, that his chances against Trump are decreasing, not increasing, etc. Oddly, there is little discussion of who would replace him on the ticket, and their practical chances against Trump
I mean, the obvious option is Harris, and there is some recent chat about that:
@BradC this is all nonsense. The polls are all but stagnant. The recent poll is only a manifestation of the hype created in media.
The problem is that after the fiasco of the 2016 election, I don't think I trust the US electorate not to be sexist
@BradC or Racist
2:02 PM
@Nzall me knows! He is from 🇫🇷!
@Nzall true
@Nzall cough. They didn't even spare that Sikh lady at RNC.
Remember Harmeet Dhillon is a hardcore MAGA.
@BradC The progressives have stood by Biden and it's the best option now. I do believe Kamala has the potential. But unless serious ailments occur, Biden should run and all those fuss must end.
I'll be frank; I'd vote for a golden retriever if it had a D by its name; not to mention I'm in a deep red state where my presidential vote is extremely unlikely to matter. But if Biden is losing the support of his party, that's not nothing
This intra party fighting is benefitting none.

@User1865345 No idea. Province says there will be consequences. Hopefully they actually mean it, because this is clearly illegal.
Good
As per this axios report, Biden would probably bow out as soon as this weekend.
At this point, the progressive and black Caucus are only batting for Biden.
2:59 PM
@User1865345 I mean yeah, if he's going to do that, sooner rather than later is best, but we've already had all the primaries, so... does that just make it a free vote at the Democratic convention?? How does that work?
@BradC the first choice would of course be Kamala, possibly due to the sole fact that she would have the rights on the money.
Joe would be the one to dictate his delegates to vote for someone he endorses.
@BradC but again, these are speculative.
I still won't take in full faith the Axios article. In any case, though, he is more open about a future exit.
3:15 PM
> one close friend of Biden speaking anonymously said, “His choice is to be one of history’s heroes, or to be sure of the fact that there’ll never be a Biden presidential library… I pray that he does the right thing. He’s headed that way.”

@User1865345 well thats the new word that will be used for everything
'coup'
you dont know what a coup is
7:29 PM
@Fredy31 folks are good at trivialising everything.
Nevertheless, I feel really sorry for Biden. Joe's first term was better than Obama's two terms combined considering how slim the majority was for the former.
I think Biden has accomplished a tremendous amount
Absolutely
It's a tragedy he is lagging behind polls.
How much delusional you have to be to support a convicted felon? Pathetic.

@Wipqozn wait... The professor Proton guy that Sheldon loved?
@User1865345 Yes
Sad.
Elon Musk was supposed to have a surprise appearance at RNC. But he confirmed he won't.
9:00 PM
I'm working on a short story for publication in a local newspaper (Anchorage Daily News, preferably) as quickly as I can get it written. It starts with an earthquake and an electoral tie (268-268) in the 2024 election. It ends with Alaska Senator Murkowski (R) and Representative Peltola (D) teaming up to endorse Biden (or whoever the Democratic candidate is), in a revote in districts whose ballots were destroyed.
9:18 PM
If anyone wants to play in that process, which is morphing in my head now into something I could play as scripts for shorts in the form of news clips, I'll post a link to a shared Google doc in a bit.
