> The seven counts against the former president include conspiracy to obstruct, willful retention of documents and false statements, according to people familiar with the indictment. He said he would surrender to the authorities on Tuesday.
"sorry [Very Important Foreign Leader] but the president can't come out to meet you because he's already had his 1 hour walk in the courtyard. if you like we can set up a phone call during visiting hours"
So apparently CNN has seen the transcript of that recording of Trump waving around that classified document, and its about as bad as it could be (for Trump):
> The transcript of the audio recording suggests that Trump is showing the document he’s discussing to those in the room. Several sources have told CNN the recording captures the sound of paper rustling, as if Trump was waving the document around, though is not clear if it was the actual Iran document.
> “Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” Trump says at one point, according to the transcript. “This was done by the military and given to me.”
the headline is focused on the quote from the transcript: “As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t” which contradicts all his later claims
but to me the fact that he's showing it around the room to people (he knows) are not authorized to read it seems more significant
In happier news, most of the residents evacuated due to the Tantallon wildfire (near Halifax, Nova Scotia) are able to go home now. https://www.halifax.ca/fire-police/fire/emergency-management/fires-tantallon-hammonds-plains
> Donald Trump faces 37 criminal counts including charges of unauthorized retention of classified documents and conspiracy to obstruct justice after leaving the White House in 2021,
Regarding Judge Aileen Cannon, looks like the court mistakenly filed this as a related case to the prior one (that was explicitly not specified in the Special Counsel's filing). Those in the know (read: law twitter) say he should be able to change this to (South Miami) venue pretty routinely, Cannon's court is like 3+hrs away
