Trump says FBI agents raided his Florida home reuters.com/world/us/…
2
> The investigation comes after the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration in February notified Congress that it had recovered about 15 boxes of White House documents from Trump's Florida home, some of which contained classified materials.
Naturally

Well, did he leak them? If not, shame on him.

12:32 AM
Unfortunately, there is no shame in being unimpeachable.

1 hour later…
1:42 AM
Trump is complaining because the FBI raided Mar-A-Lago

This is probably not actually significant in any real way but I think we can all agree that it's very funny

yeh, just imagining the FBI doing what he describes

Like if anything joe is going to pardon his ass like they did with nixon back in the day so this isn't anything probably

> Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents
and then we get shots of them playing Golf

I don't think it's a siege if they're inside
Or if you let them in when they said "fbi - search warrant"
I think technically a siege also has to have a goal of starving people out of a fortified position

1:46 AM
yeh the 3 descripts are for different stages

You take the bailey and siege the keep and whatnot

if someone has "occupied" a location, then the siege is over. if the location has been "raided", then they have already gotten what they came from and left, thus not occupying

capturing the mcdonalds nearby to cut off supplies
Or the Publix or whatever

Sometimes I like to say things just because I want to be able to point to them later and say, "see?"

Speaking of senseless violence, if I lived in DC I'd be getting the hell out of Dodge before the 6th. I'm afraid (thanks to Trump's incitement) that day is going to be deadly. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/protests/trump-supporters-rally-protest-january-6-maga-protest/65-2639563a-b04e-4a40-a028-23083673d46b
So today I say: This search is the beginning of the end for Trump.
At this moment I would bet money that he will not be allowed to run in 2024, and that the public drama starts now.

let him run

or

have the drama from the Trumpers about him being able to run.

hard to tell which would be worse

I am of the opinion that he absolutely cannot be allowed to run.
By every single reasonable legal standard, the man is a stone criminal.
It's not enough to hope he won't get the Republican nomination.
He needs to be stripped of the protection of being somebody that just might be running.
Anything less encourages the next Nazi.
Towards that end, I think the nation would benefit from seeing him do a good old-fashioned perp-walk. I think any time behind bars would probably do more harm to the nation than good, but a perp-walk could shake us all just right.
I'm grinning from ear-to-ear:

7:24 AM
Meh. Either nothing will come of it, or it'll make the alt-right particularly insufferable.
I'd rather see Trump fade into obscurity.

The only way that happens is if he has a stroke.
That man's narcissism is a force of cosmic malice.

His evil is overrated imho.
He's just a buffoon. If he had an ounce of intelligence, I'd be more concerned.

1 hour later…
8:47 AM
from a non-american perspective it looks like trump was just saying whatever he could to curry favour with the largest group
him panicking over his house getting raided is funny, sure, but until it proves any actual crime i'm content in thinking trump was just an incompetent buffoon and not any more of a threat to american democracy than amazon is

2 hours later…
11:04 AM
> Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who's facing voters this fall, tweeted: "Using government power to persecute political opponents is something we have seen many times from 3rd world Marxist dictatorships But never before in America."
Trump unleashed a violent mob on the Capitol and supported their desire to hang Mike Pence

12:01 PM
@forest idk, I'd consider unleashing a violent mob on the capitol in an attempt to seize power illegally seems pretty evil to me.

he can have a little bit of attempted murder, as a treat

@Unionhawk I think by the time you starve Trump, his rabid fanbase will already have started a countersiege

@Nzall They already showed up during the raid.

@Jolenealaska The GOP would probably still support Trump if he was in a vegetative state

12:24 PM
@Nzall I really dont get why the GOP seems to still go ham for trump

@Fredy31 Simple

Its an all or nothing game, and really, I would give it a generous 10% chance of getting it all
and if you dont get it all, the party will probably die

Last time the demagogue ran, before he tried to overthrow democracy, he got the second highest vote amount in US election history

Guess they are blinded by the possibility of having a totalitarian regime on their side
@Nzall still lost the popular vote tho. They didnt get that much votes because they are good, they got that much vote because of how charged that electioon was
And if Trump is on the ballot again, I would expect a turnout like that again. But it will be worse for trump that time
the Q movement is bleeding support by the day because of all the things the Q hardcores do
Jan6 being their magnum opus

@Fredy31 Depends on how much the GOP succeeds in election fraud by voter suppression
Like, LOOK! Look at how many voter suppression laws GOP states have enacted

12:30 PM
yeah I guess thats the crux of it. they are trying to stack the deck so hard it doesnt fucking matter what the popular vote does

@Fredy31 It's more than that
See, the GOP's final plan is a constitutional conference
Which they can call if they get enough states under their power
If that happens, they can rewrite the constitution as they see fit
Without approval of congress

Huh, didnt know that
So yeah it starts making sense, do that and make the constitution for a christian facist state

but the probable result of that is every deep blue state will sceceed
and that would probably be a victory for them either

If they have 34 states, they can call one

12:34 PM
they will rule without the impeeding of the pesky democrats with their 'caring about people' thing
Would have been my guess. 66%
same in canada, if I remember right
But yeah, i said it before and i'll say it again: I think the current situation will end in a split of the red and blue states in the US.
Red states will go down the ultra christian state road, the blue ones will basically pass everything like every developped country has on day 1
and i'm prettty sure the blue states will have it a lot better in 10 years lol

The problem is that AFAIK, the Red States would split the blue states RIGHT down the middle

Yeah that is a possiblity that for simplicity, east coastal states will be a country, west coastal states will be another and theres gonna be the bible thumping regime in the middle
But before the specifics, I kinda expect that in 20 years the US of A will be no more.
That or the GOP will implode and never get power again
there is already a small push that moderate conservatives want to break off in their own party, to not have to live under trump

2 hours later…
2:43 PM
@Fredy31 oh, that would be interesting. Essentially a spoiler candidate

3:22 PM
@Wipqozn oh and they still hate pence
footage from the "FBI Raid" outside Mar-A-Lago you see some of his fanboys driving past with their flags. one's got the old Trump Pence sign but rather than getting a new one they just crossed out Pence

@Memor-X Budget supporter lol
Also how fucking nothing going on in your life do you have to be to just do laps around your favorite politician's castle with flags
But yeah, if the FBI raided trump's residence... they know they have the shit
to put down enough argument to justify a fbi raid on an ex president home they needed ironclad shit

4:03 PM
@Nzall The GOP will support him so long as their base does, which apparently they always will. They're a cult.

4 hours later…
8:11 PM
Not to mention for being, you know, totally illegal
Here's a video that shows clips from their marketing and the show itself demonstrating that, no, this isn't fair use or parody or anything, just a blatant rip-off:

8:47 PM
How is it illegal? Is the play under copyright?

yes. You can't just watch the Disney+ version of Hamilton, build sets and costumes, buy a CD of the soundtrack, and put on the fucking play
I mean, you can, but you're going to get sued up the ass
even if you're a church
Like, high school drama clubs pay THOUSANDS of dollars to be able to perform SUPER OLD musicals like Greece
and Hamilton is (relatively) brand new, and isn't yet being licensed to ANYONE for ANY PRICE
its still actively touring and bringing in millions. Its going to be another decade before they even think about it

Had no idea how new it was
Oh wow, Grease is way newer than I realized too

@Wipqozn 1971?
Grease is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Named after the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as greasers, the musical is set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School (based on William Howard Taft School in Chicago, Illinois and named after rock singer Bobby Rydell) and follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values, and love. The score borrows heavily from the sounds of early rock and roll. In its original production in Chicago, Grease was a raunchy, raw, aggressive, vulgar show. Subsequen...

9:02 PM
@BradC Yes.

I was the president of my high school thespian society. Recipient of the superintendent award for drama. I'm bigly into musicals. (I was stunned about Olivia Newton-John - SANDY!) The Hamilton thing is amazing. They streamed the first performance.
I'm pretty shocked (especially considering the anti-gay thing) that Hamilton let the church do one more performance after cease and desist order.
Speaking of musicals I have found my new favorite artist of political parody. I'm sure I'm way behind the times, and you all know this guy, but if not: youtube.com/c/RandyRainbowOfficial
