> Tucker, who was also wounded during the incident, allegedly got into an argument with a cashier about wearing a face mask while he was checking out his items, according to investigators.

"Tucker left the store without making his purchase, but immediately returned inside. Tucker walked directly back to the cashier, pulled out a handgun and shot her," the GBI said in a statement.

I heard an interesting thing on the radio. Hopefully this reminds me to share it when I'm not on mobile.

@Wipqozn draws gun Always have been
But the name is misleading because it was basically "If you can figure out how to say someone is doing terrorism and hand wave 9/11, you can do war stuff without asking Congress"

Okay I can't find a CBC article for it, but basically they had an interview with an author about her book around the history of Gun Control and Blacks in the US. Essentially, racism!
Basically post civil war black americans were forbid from owning guns, and SCOTUS said "yeah that's cool" since they were racist and said that black americans weren't citizens.
This gun control existed purely from racism, and basically it was whites wanting to ensure blacks remained unarmed... and more importantly, whites wanted to be armed so they could "protect themselves" from black americans...aka more racism
So basically this has continued into the modern day where the reason such huge portions of the "I wanna marry my gun" crowd are racist white people is because the reason they care so much about keeping their guns is because their gun love is rooted in racism, aka they want to protect themselves from black americans, aka they're racist.

@Wipqozn reminder that gun control laws in california were passed during reagan's governorship (yes, that reagan) after the black panthers called for black americans to purchase and own firearms
and the nra backed the gun control legislation

@Yuuki Surprise!
Makes sense
It honestly explains a lot.

the 2a crowd has always been intertwined with racism

yeah it always seemed like they were to me... but I didnb't know just how intertined
Basically I knew the most crazy gun nuts were racist too, but I didn't understand why.

it's easier to see if you abstract gun ownership as power. same with property ownership.

That's a new level of crazy I didn't hear before
