Only certain sections of the standard help pages and such are editable by mods, unfortunately. We have updated the tour page as much as we can - see this meta post. Please feel free to make another meta post if you have some suggestions, comments are pretty limiting for that sort of discussion :) — Em C ♦ 1 min ago

Just in case it doesn't go without saying, don't claim to like an author you're not familiar with, or one that you've recently made negative comments about where she could hear you or online. Recovering from being caught making objectively false claims is much harder than talking to someone new. People generally do not like being lied to, and there's no need to - there will be something you can talk about honestly with her. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

@Ælis I've overheard several conversations where someone asked someone if they knew what cultural appropriation was, and the person responded with, "Excuse me? I'm a sociologist. That's literally my job." Now, that's in America, not France. It's certainly a conversation that I would want to have about it, but I really support motosubatsu's advice to introduce the conversation with language that indicates that you think she knows more about it than you. If that turns out to not be the case, you can change the language around as needed. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

It can be good for an answer to not to directly address the question. Sometimes the best answer does. I know of no objective way to determine whether a question has an XY problem. It seems gilhad feels it does. It's not necessarily a reason to delete or down-vote an answer. But in this case, there is that note. — Matthew Elvey 49 secs ago

Try narrowing down your question with a goal for your situation. Maybe that might be to ask your friend how she feels about things that involve you? With your goal being to somehow communicate your own as well? — Anilla 1 min ago

Hello @Blake Jacobs; warm welcomes from the IPS site! :) In your question you ask us to explain what's going on in your relationship with that special someone... but unfortunately we can't really answer that for you. There's so many different things we don't know or understand about your situation for us to be able give you a good answer. We'd need to quite literally be there with you to really understand the full scope of things. I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, and we still would love to help you. — Anilla 1 min ago

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because no random stranger on the internet is able to know what's on the mind of a person suffering from mental illness and PTD, and the deep meaning of some attitude/action. This is more than on the edge of professional help/counseling, and far too broad for one question. — OldPadawan 1 min ago

Hi Blake, as already mentioned by some other people, we most probably won't be able to help you right now. There isn't even a real question suited for this stack in your post. That's why, for the moment, I've added a VTC reason. Please read carefully and follow advices, then edit your OP if possible. Thanks — OldPadawan 1 min ago

Setting the 'or' is the key part: no chanche for them to discuss the options and an unpleasant outcome (for them) if they take no action — Paolo 18 secs ago

I know societies on one side want to see everything as equal (which it mostly really is and is ok) but on the other side everyone who can't escape naming something or saying something is a racist - for no explainable reason. Subject abc is normal - but don't dare to talk about it. This is the quintessence of what remains for people who don't know detailed background of those "don't do this" movements. I am missing the backgrounds of this. What exactly do you see as the problem, what do you expect them to learn? — puck 2 mins ago

To make my comment more clear, I don't claim there is no problem in what happens, or you're overreacting. I simply have nothing to do with this subject, thus I am unable to see the problem. So I want to know more background information to understand that. — puck 26 secs ago

What do you mean "approach the police with a problem that hasn't happened yet"? It's happening every damn day and you have audio records and a log to prove it. This is not about interpersonal matters or someone vandalizing your car. This is about people harrasing you every day in your own apartment for no reason at all. Go to the police before your mental health suffers. Document their trampling and other actions and make their live hell for a change. — Elmy 1 min ago
