@gnasher729 the impotence of her actions is irrelevant. However, they might say, "we'll write you up if you don't turn off your computer" in response to the escalation, and just ignore the lights on at home part. I was merely pointing out that your statement (nothing she can do) is objectively false. Whether it works out for her or not is not relevant to my point. It just decided not to post the "Starting at rev <sha> on branch <branch> (commit msg)" thing if I restarted it too close to it's initial start time. It still actually started (watching the logs), but it doesn't post the message.

ChatX might not handle this, but generally speaking chat doesn't let you post the same message twice in a row. CE handles this by tacking on a space

The problem I see here is that the person who "loves foreign cultures" (Eve) is trying to engage in a foreign culture conversation with a person (Alice) who could care less about the topic. Even those of us who are "originally from somewhere else" may find it quite boring to talk about the place we left, especially if it's been a while and we have not kept up with the latest music, celebrities, politics, etc, from the place we came from, and we'd rather be talking about the latest American TV show or US politics or technology or whatever other "local" topics. — Alex R 7 secs ago

@SomeoneElse, Also, don't answer any questions about your girlfriend, or girls you might be dating, or even if you're single. Just say "I don't talk about other girls" or "That's none of your business. You and I, we're no longer dating. Please stop asking these types of questions and please stop texting me. Let's just be cordial to each other when we run into each other, but that's it. I'm sure you have many other friends you could be texting than me." Plus usually, cell phone companies will change your phone number for free if you explain you have a stalker who won't stop contacting you. — Stephan Branczyk 20 secs ago

@Catija Maybe we should discuss this in meta. There is a worrisome pattern I saw on most SE sites. There are a lot of people like me who come here with legitimate questions, and then the moderators simply close them because they don't fit "the rules". I'm fine if the moderator takes a little time to explain how to word the question so that it's useful to others, but I'm not fine with you pepper spraying both the asker and the answerer. I'm not saying you should not close questions, I'm saying you should help the asker while doing it, or leave moderation for someone better at it. — Magicsowon 8 secs ago

@Onyz And a man being alone with another man is not risky because the idea of a homosexual affair wouldn't cross anybody's mind? Isn't that kind of naive in the 21st century? If people are going to make up stuff about the OP, who's to say they won't also make stuff up about his sexual orientation? — AllTheKingsHorses 1 min ago
