@RPiAwesomeness: What do you do when someone starts defending Satanism? He's practically accusing me of being prejudice and not well informed. It's ridiculous! He's probably a Satanist himself. Well, God help this world.

Haha! I scared him off! :D
user136984
I weirded him out. :P
user136984
Even though I kind of meant it more metaphorically than he would have taken it, but still... Haha! :D
@ParanoidPanda You at least take the time to read the wikipedia entry on modern Satanism to understand what it is (as much as you can from a wikipedia entry). You are prejudiced and misinformed.
> The religion's doctrines are codified in LaVey's book, The Satanic Bible. The religion is materialist, rejecting the existence of supernatural beings, body-soul dualism, and life after death. Practitioners do not believe that Satan literally exists and do not worship him. Instead, Satan is viewed as a positive archetype representing pride, carnality, and enlightenment. He is also embraced as a symbol of defiance against Abrahamic religions which LaVeyans criticize for suppressing humanity's natural instincts and encouraging irrationality. Just to be clear again, I am not talking about atheists in modern day times who call themselves "Satanists", I mean the actual and original meaning.
@ParanoidPanda who says satan is evil? All we have is 1 book written by a human claiming god is good and satan is evil. We never heard Satan's story now have we?
Satan is just the Christian version of the trickster god.
Loki <3
Loki aint evil either. He's just bored :=D
Such deities have been worshiped for millennia and, frankly, if you're going to worship a deity, it makes sense that it would be an evil one. I mean, look around you. Makes a lot of sense that there's some sort of trickster who doesn't give a damn running everything and, in that case, worshiping said trickster in an attempt to appease them is an eminently reasonable thing to do.

@Rinzwind Why don't you ask him?

This discussion, although useful and very interesting, might be better had in another room.
Fair point.
@ParanoidPanda I will when I meet him (or her)

Also, you are actually referring to Lucifer, who at least didn't mean to be bad, he's more the energy of rebelling, he just happened to rebel against the ultimate good so it didn't end up too well for him... I don't know if there is a story as such for Satan, but he's pretty much just evil energy, although he just goes in his direction, the idea of good and bad doesn't affect him, he just is as he is and that is the direction he takes.
user136984
Lucifer and Satan have their similarities, but not on everything.
Hey, we've been asked to take this discussion elsewhere.
Those of you who wish to continue it, please do so.
Move it elsewhere, that is.

In the Old Testament they were refereed to as two separate beings, it was only in the New Testament when that changed.
user136984
Ok, I'm done now. :)
Hello?
user136984
I was just in the middle of writing that before you said what you did and wanted to just finish.
