MiG
5:34 AM
Morning :)
ouch, muscle aches all over :x

6:14 AM
morning :)
Yeah, that's probably to be expected if you go bouldering XD

MiG
For the first time in over two years, yeah :x

I have sore muscles too... I'm coughing harder again :/

MiG
6:31 AM
oh noes :(
covid still with you then, or is it the aftereffects?
think I was coughing for another week or so, mucal layer was probably badly damaged

Well last Friday I still tested positive, I haven't tested again.
But it's definitely still a covid thing.

MiG
sorry to hear :(

Yeah, it's no fun. Oh well, I may have an excuse to not go to the office tomorrow again. I'll ask, but I doubt my coworkers would be happy sitting next to me if I'm coughing loudly twice every hour XD (And I hate the thought of driving and getting a coughing fit in the middle of the highway)

MiG
6:59 AM
good excuse as any :P

7:19 AM
We'll see what the rest says.
"You can take public transport" is always an option too, though not one I would prefer XD

MiG
7:49 AM
you're gonna get found out at the first cough :P

Yeah, would probably mean I get a seat in an otherwise empty carriage, no? :P
I remember the last Wednesday of office work before everyone had to WFH due to covid... I was at Amsterdam Zuid station and all the 'fijnstof' there always makes me sneeze. I sneezed, the entire platform was looking at me XD

MiG
@Tinkeringbell that means the public transport police will send in their special unit
@Tinkeringbell yeah, hay fever has the same problem :(

8:08 AM
@MiG Too hot!

I was told it was going to be 27C here today but i have yet to see any evidence of that thankfully

It's going to be 20 here today. I'm happy. House is still at 21 though, I haven't closed the windows for the last three days XD
Even with nights that are 10-12 degrees... it just doesn't seem to cool down!

MiG
strange

we're getting a lot of cloud cover here which obviously keeps it a bit cooler during the day... but a bit warmer at night

MiG
any chance you can keep ventilation running in the living room over night?

8:21 AM
@MiG Don't know, that's on the list to ask the mechanic on Friday.
For now the remote is the only way to control it, and it only allows 10, 30 and 60 minutes of ventilation at a time before you have press the button again.

have you considered a ruth goldberg machine

Hahaha my preference would be to inquire if there is a way to install a smarter receiver, one that's perhaps also programmable ;)
So I can just program it before going to bed: Tonight, run from 4-6AM

MiG
@Tinkeringbell I meant directly blowing in cold outside air with a fan

@MiG Ah. I probably could, but in my defense the house is 'cold enough' to sleep in now, and I like seeing the reduced energy usage achieved through the stand-by stops in the app in the morning :P

MiG
that's the simplest, most cost effective and probably downright effective way (if that heat pump can cool it'll probably require more euros per joule of heat displaced)
@Tinkeringbell alright :)

8:28 AM
Dear $Deity... I seem to be getting weekly spam offers from the 'vriendenloterij' (friend lottery) these days. I can't wait for the postfilter to kick in.
Worst part is: That stuff is coming through PostNL, and as such I get app notifications for each of those spam letters.
@MiG Yeah, I know. And to be honest, I have been thinking about it. I guess the main point is also that if I were to do this, I would have to get up early to turn it off. The air it would blow in, would be the air that's under my 'afdak'. So that heats up a bit faster once the morning sun hits it, as it's a bit of a greenhouse.

MiG
nah, it'll keep working until outside temp rises above indoor temp - I doubt you'd reach that until mid day. Assuming you want the noise to stop, just turning it off when you wake up (at whichever normal hour) is fine :)

? So it won't start blowing in hot air from outside, just cold air? That seems weird XD

8:55 AM
I just overheard part of a call of someone explaining that they can't show their cat because they are in fact in the office lol

Hahaha
Well I get to skip office day one more time. But I had to promise that if this cough didn't get better over the weekend, I would call the doctor's office on Monday XD

how many days a week do you normally do in the office?

Just the one, on Thursday :)
It's doable, though half the time it's still not necessary and just a waste of time travelling ;)

@Tinkeringbell well thats a given isn't it ;) i dunno, i've found that a day or two a week in the office is nice to see people and breaks up my routine

9:19 AM
But I like my routine! XD
I mean, sure, seeing the coworkers is fun and we joke around a lot and talk a lot, but still... It is wasting 1,5 hours in driving times each week, and I like the stuff I could've done in that time otherwise better :P

my commute is best part of an hour each way sometimes more, but i use that time to make progress on my audio books which isn't something i'd otherwise really do

Ah. Yeah, I'm not big on the audiobooks. I recently have really liked just being a couch potato, watching documentaries or Netflix, and having a tablet with a farming simulator game open ;)
That's not really something I can do while driving a car XD

i can't just watch netflix because i get bored - i need to be doing like three different things at once

MiG
@Tinkeringbell evening: temp outside drops below temp in living room -> turn fan on
temp this morning was 14C when I woke up, so you can leave it running all night without a problem

@AlexRobinson Yes, that's why I have the tablet and game :P

MiG
9:29 AM
you're not heating up the room if you leave it on

Ah, like that. Hmm. But the 'afdak' functions a bit like a greenhouse with the sun on it, especially if there's little wind to circulate the air underneath it. And since that's the (heated up) air I'd be blowing in, as the morning sun hits it, I think I will at some point be blowing in 20 degree air anyways.

MiG
I doubt your afdak somehow magically creates a 21+C giant bubble all the way from the top to the floor :)

Well it should!

I don't know, it just feels that way when I go close the window in the morning XD
Like the outside air is hotter than the inside air.

MiG
the idea is that a table fan blows in cold air at the window sill level, and pushes out warmer air at the top (i.e. where your porch is)

9:44 AM
I need thermometers. Like a dozen of them.
:P

MiG
"I need thermometers. Lots of thermometers." :D

Well that's maybe a bit much. I think just going to the store will work for this ;)

MiG
10:28 AM
(:
