6:58 AM
@MiG Oof. Well you didn't miss out on much, the entire post is in the onebox :P
Or do you mean the rain and thunder XD
morning btw.

MiG
7:48 AM
rain and thunder lol
morning :)

8:06 AM
@MiG Well, you may have one more chance this afternoon? :)

MiG
following some EU information sessions on a financing mechanism atm... VERY high information density :'(
@Tinkeringbell yeah, gf is gonna get home soaked :/
also haven't had time to process stuff, so laptop has slowed down to a crawl due to open tabs and documents :x
the only positive thing is that this morning I got to ride the bike for an hour, feels good :)
I have to admit I'm kinda used to people being inexperienced with presentations and slide designs, so most of the time I can easily multitask during these... But damn, everything is to the point this time :D

XD
high information density meetings always wear me out so fast, but not as fast as meetings with a waaaay too low information density :)

MiG
those don't wear me out, I just tune out the presentation and do useful backlog stuff on the laptop :)
with physical meetings I always make sure I sit somewhere in the back for that reason
and with virtual meetings... group stuff always gets dragged to the TV, freeing up the main laptop screen for actual work (:
well, if it's one way / broadcast stuff... If it's an actual meeting with a relevant topic I won't of course :)

To be fair, I do the same with almost any group meeting when working at home. It's why office days wear me out so much: Then there's almost no chance of just tuning out a meeting if you're 6 people in a little conference room. Sitting in the back isn't an option then :P

MiG
8:27 AM
ah, my meetings are usually either smaller or larger :)
and they usually end up in these big meeting rooms so there's a good 6-10m between me and the person presenting

Sid
(Physical meetings are terrible, sorry)

MiG
:D
current guy isn't helping his case with a strong French accent :X
"who is responsiBUL"
"the decEEsion could be consEEdered"
"you could dEEvelUP further"
I know he can't help it, but it's very distracting :(

Ah yes, accents can be very annoying, especially once you've noticed them and you keep noticing more XD

Sid
(Although I would say my first virtual work meeting also went terrible. My wireless earphones worked well as a listening device and didn't work at all, as a speaking device)

MiG
Fortunately I was already used to it, mostly doing EU research projects so most of my meetings were already online well before covid

4 hours later…
12:25 PM
Well... I just had groceries delivered for the first time. That's a one-time-never-again thing, half the stuff I ordered wasn't delivered or replaced with other products!
(and the delivery guy is supposed to mention that so you can decline the product, but of course I only figured this out after paying and with the guy gone because... he didn't.)

MiG
@Tinkeringbell wtf? they do that? which shop?

12:45 PM
@MiG Plus
I ordered karvan cevitam in two variants (it's a 1 + 1 free deal, so I thought I'd try something new!), I got two of the same. I ordered another 1+1 free deal, 1 time noodles, the other pasta, the pasta one isn't in stock so I got two of the same noodles now (again, I don't even know if I like 1!). I ordered regular whole wheat bread, I got 'tiger bread' (I know I can eat that one, but it has less fiber as it's brown bread, not whole-wheat).
I ordered a small packet of iceberg lettuce and got a large one, as the small ones were out of stock (now part of it will probably go to waste or I have to eat lettuce twice in a short time). They made me pay the regular big bag price too.
The eggs were M, not L sized.
Oh, and I ordered heksenkaas for my 'beschuit' in the morning, but that wasn't delivered and also not replaced, so now I have to go to the shop anyways to get something to put on that next week.
So far for being lazy and supporting other jobs XD

MiG
@Tinkeringbell I like the order in this one :P :P :P
Don't think I'll ever do that tbh, we have a dozen supermarkets within walking distance and I can be at any of them within one minute on my bike
And if they feel free to add 'equivalents' then no

@MiG I mean, I think every supermarket that does delivery has a rule like "We'll bring a similar product if something isn't in stock, but you can decline it". It's not a rule I have a problem with, as long as that second part is actually lived up to.

MiG
1:02 PM
Well, there's usually a reason we pick one product over the other... And it's unheard of with any other online order

Well, yeah. I usually just pick the cheapest :P

1 hour later…
MiG
2:25 PM
okay, if they give you something more expensive for the same price I guess I would mind less :P

2:52 PM
No, they don't. At least this one doesn't. If you accept the alternative you pay the higher price

MiG
ah :/
tbh, I'm not big on online ordering unless it's something with great uniformity - I'll happily order electronics and PC stuff online, but not clothes and groceries
ordered shoes online for the first time ever from a brand I've worn for the past decade or so... then got unpleasantly surprised with the shoes being painfully small compared to my existing pair :/
turned out there was a difference between the canvas pair I ordered and the leather pair I owned, not what you expect when they have exactly the same size label on them

Clothes/shoes are fine for me, but that's also mostly because I mostly always order the same.
I did the grocery ordering because I still have enough vegetable frozen meals for the next week so basically the only "fresh produce" I needed was the bread.
If I didn't have a freezer full of leftovers, I'd probably have gone to the store myself.
I thought I could easily get away with having someone just pick one of everything I wanted off the shelves for me, as that's what I usually do. But apparently, not

3 hours later…
MiG
6:08 PM
@Tinkeringbell that's the thing, I did order the same brand and size :(

7:02 PM
@MiG Yeah but a different model perhaps?

2 hours later…
MiG
9:07 PM
different material, the model was exactly the same
I just think they fucked up, had that with a pair of jeans once
picked a pair, damaged them in a bike accident after a month, then went back to the same store and bought the exact same model and size... that one didn't fit, so either my original pants or the supposedly identical pair were off in size
