7:28 AM
morning :)

2 hours later…
9:43 AM
morning all. As someone who quite enjoys working from home i'm surprised to find myself in the position of wanting to work at the office (for atleast one day) next week- whilst the goverment guideline is to work remotely where possible

9:53 AM
XD that's weird.
I have to go into the office (likely next week or the week after that) to get a new laptop and I'm not looking forward to it at all...

working from home is comfy but as we have to use a VPN when working remotely, any task that requires loading hundreds of browser pages (which i have to do every monday) is literally faster to do in the office

10:10 AM
Yeah okay, that can be annoying.
We've had days were our VPN was slow/barely working too... I usually just rolled with it and drank more tea ;)

4 hours later…
2:18 PM
Morning.
@AlexRobinson Can you do it via script? Run script, go have breakfast.

2:35 PM
o/

How is?

Slow day, liking it. Got a company 'present' today, some food and drinks as there will be no christmas office party this year. Don't have to cook tonight, and in about 15 minutes my day will be done and we'll have a 'teammeeting' that involves just chatting and maybe something like scribbl.io
There?

@Sarov its probably possible, but i wouldnt know how to record a set of numbers from a picture of a graph

2:53 PM
Got in, received easy change request from a reasonable manager.
So, pretty good.

Fingers crossed it keeps up :)

@Tinkeringbell also, sounds good :)

Yeah, it's nice. I like the last few months of the year for that: Work slows down and you're not constantly switching between bugfixing, making new stuff, and refactoring old stuff on the go XD

my work has only been speeding up since october lol

Oof, yeah. I hear some jobs have it worse than others ;)

3:02 PM
Mine is pretty much constant. Well, there are some time when it's too slow.

unlike 90+% of SE users, i dont actually code for a living. i work for a satellite company so my workload every monday increases as we install more and more sites on the ground

Here, we mostly make data validations. So, stuff like 'a 50mm wide gas pipe should be connected using 50mm connectors, not 75 because that stuff will leak' :P And then we check the data that contractors give the company, about the pipes and lines they put into the ground. But because they have loads of work to do at the end of the year, we're basically having a code-freeze so they won't run into problems with newly minted checks

oh i see

@AlexRobinson Yep, you're probably on the end of a chain that has more work, while others can do less ;)

certainly feels that way haha

3:28 PM
Just loop the chain around! :D

4:27 PM
I am watching this program called "extreme cheapskates" while gobbling up dinner... And these people are seriously doing medical procedures at home, and the program has a warning "methods in this program can be dangerous"... It seriously needs some stronger red flags XD

Naaaaaaaah.
Sounds fiiiiiiine.

The woman is seriously reusing needles she gets from diabetic friends and extracting her own tooth at home, with help from her husband XD
He turned the vacuum into one of those dentist cleaning sucky things by taping a straw to it !?

o,O

I may start to like this program XD

Please do not try this at home. Or anywhere.

4:33 PM
There's another dude on now, that proposed to his gf with an empty ring box, and he only gives her 10 sheets of toilet paper a day!?
I'd be out faster than you can flush those sheets XD

5:27 PM
> proposed to his gf with an empty ring box
I don't see the problem with this one.

oh, extreme cheapskates
i think i've seen some moistcritikal videos about those but not the program itself. they're funny as hell minus the part where some of them are just depressing

That's the best kind of funny.

5:56 PM
@hyper-neutrino Yeah, the weird habits are fun but it's a bit depressing if there's e.g. kids involved that really don't like it.
Like, i don't care if a fully grown adult and her husband take out a tooth using homemade tools... But send your kids to the dentist like a normal person!

6:34 PM
@Tinkeringbell ??? But then how can you traumatize them properly?

7:16 PM
@Sarov by messing up like every other parent? :P
Those extreme cheapskates are so extreme, even the trauma they hand out is cheap.
That never works properly.
