9:33 AM
afternoon!

10:14 AM
how's life?

10:32 AM
Oof, I'm sorry.

2 hours later…
12:16 PM
good afternoon all
i've had far too many meetings this week so far and i only have more tomorrow haha.

That's not too bad! I'm not having a lot of 'meetings' necessarily, but I spent most of my morning in two standups and in two calls with two co-workers explaining/checking things.
So it's high time I start doing something productive this afternoon, except for the fact that my new desk chair just arrived and it was broken when it came from the packaging, so I just spent time I should've been working on repacking everything and making it ready to return... :(

12:32 PM
thats really unfortunate :/
i had a chair issue a while back where the hydraulic bit just kinda died so i couldn't raise the chair... but getting a replacement was more expensive than just straight up buying a new chair. I hate how wasteful it was but there wasn't another reasonable option

12:49 PM
@Tinkeringbell ow
@Tinkeringbell Don't laugh...
but I ordered a foot hammock off the internet :D

@JourneymanGeek I ordered both a chair and a foot pillow ;)
But, given how flimsy this chair looked in reality vs. on the online description (and that it arrived broken), I'm probably going to use the refund to order a better, different chair altogether
Oh, and a desk bike but I already mentioned that yesterday

lol
gaming or office?
(Bit of a bias here but secret labs make decent chairs.)

Gaming

yeah ^
I have one of their fabric ones in I think its now medium, my dad has a large.
They seem to be worldwide but not sure about your part of the world

1:28 PM
I will check :)
Hmm. I might need to postpone the buying a bit then. They do sell, but they're over twice as expensive as the one I ordered (and got delivered, and returned) today... and they don't sell them from that online store I still have that 250 euro extra gift card credit from either XD
But they do sell chairs over here.
They do have something in mint green though, which I expect will look nice in my bedroom! secretlab.eu/nl/products/…

2:12 PM
@Tinkeringbell "spent most of my morning in two standups" - your standups are too long.

@Sarov Nope, the standups were fine, 15 minutes each :)
It's the part after 'and' that did it ;)

Ah.
Morning.

Afternoon!

2:28 PM
No, morning.

Nope, still afternoon :)

Unfortunately not.

Of course it is.

Correct. It is of course unfortunately morning. ):

1 hour later…
3:46 PM
Uugh Visual Studio really doesn't like when you change a line while it's compiling.

Then don't do that? Go do nothing while your code compiles, that's the idea behind compiling!

1 hour later…
4:51 PM
BUT I'M IMPATIENT! D:<

5:14 PM
@Sarov I didn't even think VS would let you edit during compile... at least I don't think the version I had (VS 2015) would. Or maybe I just assumed that bad things would happen so I didn't try to.

3 hours later…
7:51 PM
I press compile then realize 'oh wait crap I forgot to change that one line' so I quickly change it.
If you change it early enough, it'll work. If you change it late enough, it'll prevent you from making the change.
If you change it at just the right time, Bad Things happen.

8:48 PM
@Sarov That sounds like a formula for indeterminate results. With my luck I'd be guaranteed to have Bad Things happen. This reminds me of a system I worked on that had some issue with the build where the build would go thru but the run might run the old binary due to some shadow or cached copy of the code. I finally figured out what was going on and how to get around it but it was still pretty annoying.

@DaveG "That sounds like a formula for indeterminate results" - It is.

@Sarov so why not just abort the build, fix, rebuild? Or is it too slow doing that?

Yeah that takes like 90 seconds, whereas if you can get it in on time, only takes 1...

@Sarov I still have this feeling like I couldn't edit during a build, but maybe I just didn't try. And most of the time the stuff I built went pretty quick, it was just a small part of the system.
