7:04 AM
morning!

7:16 AM
@Sarov I'm not sure... There is Christian fiction out there that I know where God/Jesus aren't incredibly sketchy, but they're not allegories there. It's usually like 'people pray, all ends well' kind of fiction then.

2 hours later…
8:51 AM
Morning all, its ended up being a rather sunny day here and i can only hope it doesn't get too hot later... how about everyone else?

9:03 AM
Cloudy, chance of rain... but a few rays of sun at the moment. And so far I've spent my entire morning chatting with a former coworker about my new apartment, showing him pictures and stuff (also chatting with him about his life for a bit, which is a mess)

sounds like a relatively pleasant morning though!

It is but I am supposed to be working! XD
Oh well. I'll just catch up tonight, it's easier to do so now that babysitting is perpetually cancelled :D

i mean i'm also supposed to be working... but here i am in TAS

Shame on you, go do your job!

9:44 AM
morning o/

hey hey

how are ya

See above :P
And you?

doing good myself heh

10:03 AM
Good, good....

3 hours later…
1:15 PM
Morning.
@Tinkeringbell Think the only media I've seen like that is Lucifer.

@Sarov Lucifer as in the TV series?

And later Netflix, yeah.

i was advertised the new netflix series but as far as i can tell, there is no way to watch the first 3 series' other than buying them for £20 on amazon each...

?? They're all on Netflix.
All seasons.

netflix does have different shows for different regions
in the UK it only has 4,5,6

1:27 PM
Let it be known that I am not officially recommending a VPN to get around that.

that is a good point...

@Sarov I've seen Lucifer, but I can't remember seeing God make an appearance yet.
No spoilers, I've only just started season 5 XD

@Tinkeringbell How many seasons are currently out?

6, I think.

Ah kay.
Though, even without an appearance, he's still a 'character' in seasons 1-4.
(Also he was the narrator of that one episode. So he kinda appeared.)

1:40 PM
I can't remember... but I think of Lucifer as all sorts of angels being assholes, and they have to have learned it somewhere... which is likely 'dad' XD

I mean, some aren't really 'assholes', but they're... definitely varying levels of dysfunctional...

I would say 'dysfunctional' is just an euphemism for assholes, but okay :P

Naaah. Azrael isn't a jerk. She's just a creepy, awkward stalker.

Heh. I guess it's time to now link to that meta post on 'objective descriptions' :P

For which word? :P

1:45 PM
I would put 'creepy and stalking' under 'a-hole'. Asshole is a very broad category :P
On a more serious note: interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/q/4038/1599 has a few answers now, but no votes for any of the answers yet... If nothing changes I will probably just count the opinions in the answers, but if people haven't voted yet.... vote!

Definitely not creepy. Being creepy can be entirely unintentional, and I think assholery requires intent.

But together with the stalking (which does require intent, you don't just accidentally stalk someone)...

True. But it's also kind of her job, so I can cut her some slack for defaulting to it during her off-hours as well...
(She's also apparently the only angel (now that Lucifer is retired) to actually have a job...)

angels and demons are weird :P

Naah Maize is coo' :P

1:56 PM
She's also weird.

@Tinkeringbell See above.

Yeah, we're probably not going to agree on this one... or we're already agreeing but both not knowing it. Either way, I have a tiny bit of work left to do today, so I'm going to try and be a bit productive :D

Good luck.

Thanks :)

2:42 PM
Me: Apps soon to be neighbour, three simple questions.
soon-to-be-neighbour: We'll get our keys next week, let's talk then okay?
sigh... old people.

@Tinkeringbell ... you rang? :-)

Not really :P

I'll go back to just being old on my own

But they are frustrating... it's simple questions, like 'that thing you're building, how far will it go into the yard', 'will it be build up to the property line' and 'do you mind me putting my own structure directly next to it (and using yours as a kind of wall) if it is on the property line' XD
I don't see why we have to meet to get answers to those questions... I did tell him we'll both be getting our keys at different times, so meeting up is probably more work than him just giving me answers.... but he's kinda insistent that it'll be fine, he'll be there earlier :/

@Tinkeringbell 'Apps'?

2:50 PM
@Sarov verbified form of 'send a whatsapp text message' :P

Ah.
@Tinkeringbell You shoulda just led with the questions instead of what you did. "Hey can I ask you some questions?" carries an implication that the questions are non-trivial, because otherwise you would've just asked them instead.

@Sarov I did not ask 'hey, can I ask you some questions!'
I asked three concrete, simple questions.
9 mins ago, by Tinkeringbell
Me: Apps soon to be neighbour, three simple questions.
soon-to-be-neighbour: We'll get our keys next week, let's talk then okay?

Ooh, I misunderstood.
I thought you literally said "three simple questions".

No, three concrete questions :D

Well, do you actually have a need for urgency? Or were you just suggesting it to be 'nice'?

2:58 PM
@Tinkeringbell ewwwww

@Sarov I would like to have answers before Saturday (because I have an appointment with a salesperson in a showroom then)... they can wait a bit, it just creates more work for me because now I need to go back and forth instead of just buying something immediately next Saturday if I like the price.
@JourneymanGeek Why eewww?

I'd specify that, then. 'Ideally I'd like answers earlier if possible, because I'd like to buy stuff on Saturday'.

@Tinkeringbell I think you would know my opinion about whatsapp by now

@Sarov I... did?

Oh well okay then!

3:02 PM
@JourneymanGeek it's ... not the worst

I prefaced the questions with that... XD
@JourneymanGeek Ohh... I thought that was related to verbi-fying the word :P

@RoryAlsop We use it for in-office comms...
and of the systems I use, its the least convinient since its tied to my phone

@JourneymanGeek I have worked in some orgs that use it in the event of an emergency

@RoryAlsop If they have 'phone' independant logins - so I could in theory use my work/duty phone at the same time as my co-worker it would be nice. Buuuut, for me its matrix > discord/slack > whatsapp :D

@JourneymanGeek for ease of use I have discord waaaaay down the bottom (I hate it) but then I am a fogey

3:06 PM
Never heard of 'matrix'.

@RoryAlsop I mostly use discord with ripcord
so its IRC-like

@RoryAlsop What do you hate about Discord?

@Sarov open source, self hosted, HTTPS transport and very very robust

@Sarov terrible terrible user interface

@RoryAlsop I'm of the opinion any chat system should be open to 3rd party clients

3:07 PM
@JourneymanGeek will laugh, but my favourite current chat for ease of use ... is Stack Exchange chat. Yep - an afterthought tool. Which beats every other current one for my usage
@JourneymanGeek I loved Trillian

@RoryAlsop Oh, SE chat is probaby my favourite but...
Its a bit terrible for private conversations

I've only used...
Jabber (Professionally)
Discord (Personally)
Google Chat (Both)

and the powers that be kinda forget it exists
@Sarov Essentialy Matrix 'replaced' jabber as the FOSS chat darling
(Also I'm still sad Jabber was never the one true chat system)

@Sarov current ones I have to use for professional reasons: Keybase, Teams, Wire, Slack, Discord, Facebook messenger, Telegram, Signal, Yammer, Jabber, WhatsApp

I'm not really a fan of Jabber.

3:10 PM
I've never heard of Wire

(2 of those are not really professional, but in a professional setting)

@RoryAlsop Holy crap all at once? Why??

@Sarov At one point everyone used Jabber

@JourneymanGeek wire is the most secure of all of those
@Sarov all the organisations I work for/with

Ooh.

3:11 PM
@Sarov I know - is my fault for being involved in multiple companies and groups

@RoryAlsop wire.com/en ?

@JourneymanGeek yes

I'll take a look
