without any knowledge of your sister's job, whether she's actually sick or not, or why you feel it's important she doesn't go to work, I don't think this is answerable. I will say that in the places I've worked and consulted, as well as the business I've run, the only time I would be ok with someone's sister calling in sick on their behalf would be if they were physically incapable of calling, texting, or emailing me themselves. Unconscious in the hospital level of sick. — Kate Gregory 2 mins ago

how's life?

going good thanks, you?

it definitely is a morning

Meh. Bored, I'm sitting through day 3 of a 4 day (4 hours a day) training.
But otherwise as okay as it's gonna get

@Tinkeringbell that sucks
oh well

7:41 AM
I have a mantra to get through it: "I'm getting paid for this" XD

@IPSCommentBot tp

8:19 AM
a significant part of my current job has been waiting for other people to do things so i can do my things... all paid for

8:44 AM
That's a good job, though I think it may be very boring some days as well.

yeah, i'd honestly love to be doing more stuff but it is what it is

Reminds me of my cashiering days. When I first started working there, the store used to be ridiculously busy each day. But mismanagement meant that we ended up with poorer and poorer stock, and less customers. In the end, I could work full days during the week, and only help like 10-15 customers.
There was a lot of tablet gaming involved.
(Also, lots of cleaning, but the boss didn't want me out of sight of the register and there was only so much to clean around it).

Blegh. From now on, I shall do all communication with my mom in writing.

oh? what were you using previously

I've been having this super boring training for 4 days, each day is from 9 to 13h. So this morning I told her "I'll be in the training until 1 again, then I have half an hour to lunch. Just see whether you go eat before that or not"
Now she's saying I said I would be done at 12:30, which just isn't true.... she'll never admit it though, so now I'm just being the doormat again.
Is it really rude to just repack her mother's day gifts and send them back for a refund?
@AlexRobinson mostly verbal communication with a bit of whatsapp. I'm switching to whatsapp only, I think.

there was an IPS question reccently on this wasn't there... getting confirmations in writing is always helpful

Yeah.
Blegh. I should really learn to stand up for myself better.

10:56 AM
it is a useful skill, but it takes practice and also you have to weigh the pro's and cons... will standing up for yourself in a given scenario burn any bridges or worsen a relationship

@AlexRobinson There's always pro's and cons. In this case though, it's more of a choice between being a wimp just to keep the relationship going, or being me.
I definitely prefer being able to be me, and not being told I am the one that needs to apologize for other people making mistakes.

definitely, i hate being told i'm wrong when i know i'm right...its such a helpless feeling

11:47 AM
Try frustrating before helpless.
But yeah.

12:13 PM
@Tinkeringbell :/

1:10 PM
@Tinkeringbell "As your Mother's Day gift, I forgive you for expecting me to apologize for you misremembering the time."
Definitely not a NVC route but... :P

@Sarov Mother's Day was yesterday though, and she's now had her gifts so there's no need for her to be nice, up until a month before her birthday :P
I will be giving no more gifts, that's for sure.

"As your birthday gift, I forgive you for expecting me to apologize six months ago for you misremembering the time"!

That's an option.
Hopefully by that time I will be out of this place though, and have started to forget about little shitty things like this.

3:09 PM
Or a "How to be a better person" self-help book!
