Yesterday, I made a fix and couldn't understand why it was working nicely in my local env but not in qual. Turns out, I wasn't testing with the right branch ><

Ugh! Well at least that's an easy fix!

Yeah, I'm just a bit "disgusted" that I didn't notice sooner which would have saved me two hours of my time

heh. I'm kinda hoping my parents will go away to a hotel for the weekend because that means I get the house to myself. On the other hand, I don't want them to go because it's unnecessarily risky!

What will they do at this hotel? Visit the city nearby?

I am jealous, I haven't had a good time alone since a few months because of co**navirus and people sitting in home all the time, being in the proximity of my family for extended periods of time is suffocating for me.

I am mostly going to love getting to pick what's for dinner three days in a row! Tonight will be salad :D

Otherwise, yeah... it's great to be able to just claim the TV once in a while and the good spot on the couch, but I do have my bedroom and PC and stuff so I don't feel all that suffocated because I don't see my parents all day daily :D

Who in their right mind would have thought a small epidemic in China would lead to 46M cases worldwide and counting?

I don't think anyone can refrain from calling this a historical moment anymore

It will truly be written in history textbooks for the future generations

The moderator council so far is supposed to help relationships between the moderators (and perhaps indirectly their communities) and SE as a company. It's supposed to help prevent events like last year's debacle

But it is now about prevention, people have already been disillusioned that something like this could have happened.

And TBH the very perpetrators of last year's fiasco are still in the company. I dunno if that means the mod council is very necessary or that it will almost certainly fail.

@M.A.R. To be a bit too honest: some of your chat messages about that reached TL. A CM I still very much trust and believe assured the room that things have changed, and that we don't know the full story about that person... I really, really can't say more but yes, I do think the council can do some good. Even if it's just proof reading stupid stuff and shielding the rest of the mod community from having to read that stuff unimproved and uncensored as well

As for the mod council, godspeed! I can only say I'll believe it when I see it, because unfortunately SE has destroyed every possible venue for an unbiased evaluation of what's being done.

But I'm definitely open to changing my mind, partly because I've been disengaged so much.

I know it must have felt harsher for someone who still cannot afford to disengage, and I'm sorry for that.

@M.A.R. that's a great attitude. I'm working on 'believe it when I see it' as well for quite a few thing too ;) I do hope mod council works out. After all, I promised Cat I'd help with it when needed, and I'd love to see something that can make me believe my help actually helped :)

Just to be clear, I have never ever doubted the intentions of the mod council or Catija or Yaakov or heck, anyone that I could ever communicate with. And it's not just even that I would consider the changes fruitless or the folks behind these efforts powerless. I know neither me nor any congregation of users in this community would or should possess the power to do anything like demand the resignations of people I'm alluding to.

@M.A.R. I understand the feeling. But, tbh... Give even those people another chance. If (and hopefully not) there's ever a situation like last year, see how these people behave, and you might be surprised

On a more fun note: started a Dutch version of Judge Judy. People complaining a tree keeps the sun out of their yards and is damaging a recently built shed... This is gonna be fun XD
