I don't like meetings. They are some kind of primitive way of sharing knowledge.

I like meetings if they serve a purpose. That means I don't like 95%+ of all meetings

I don't dislike meeting where I am expected to just sit back and listen to what person X is saying

@Ael but then it's the same as reading a mail, except 2 times slower

The last meeting I attended was billed as talking about our invoicing layouts, but what really happened is they discussed invoicing policy for like 2 hours

And I had absolutely nothing to contribute to that conversation, not being a business guy and all

@ArthurHavlicek True, but sometimes it's nice to do mostly nothing while pretending to listen to someone

@Ael Agree. Well I tend to dislike them in current company because the guy that does the long talks is someone I don't get much along with.

@Magisch I feel you. I am in a team where everyone has the same job except me. And each day, every day, I have to listen to them talking about "what they are planning to do today" while not understanding much of what they are saying. They I have to tell them what I will do while they show some polite interest

@Ael Oh god this is so much like our dailys. The hypocrisy is so thick you can almost touch it

The only nice thing about our daily is when I have tasks for my coworkers. Then I can put pressure on them by saying that I really need them to do X and that they should do my task first thing

Yeah, that part always is bad. But look at it this way: If you go read e-mail or whatever other boring thing while you wait, it's still time you're working ;)

Thankfully, I don't receive that much email ^^ I guess, I'll just procrastinate for 20 minutes, then take my launch break and, hopefully, have my answers by the time I come back

Ah, ok, can't help you much about Excel specifics anyway, just programmed in VBA for Access database utilities

don't tell my boss but now that I've got a small amount of knowledge on how to customize emacs, I spent 2 hours today trying to get a specific toolbar to show up XD

@Tinkeringbell I'm a vim person myself. I ran from emacs after I used it to crash the CS department's server 3 times in college

this database is a exceptional thing that people still use, it literally only has a purpose of creating a printable document

my boss said it himself, it was growing in popularity and they opted to use it for some reason

today we mostly have big servers with SQL server

@CaldeiraG smart move. I worked 4-5 years ago for an factory which had their WHOLE QUALITY MONITORING in some access database. Thing had one god table with maybe 30 columns, half of them empty. Don't think they had any plans to move

hello yes I would like to enter our 1.2GB access application into consideration

data isn't even stored in there, it's on a SQL server. It's just that the forms, reports and code comprise 1.2GB

I don't really now, i found it vaguely funny, partly because there is a bit of research, partly because there is genitals repeated three times and I'm an easy public

it's also kind of original, and i kind of agree gender difference in clothing is somewhat overrated
