Q: How do I figure Out What These People Want Without Coming Off In The Wrong Way

@EmC don't think so
Area 51 proposals are pretty much "doomed" anyways
Now to propose a website you already need a community for it, you can't just wait for people to see and follow it. Having a community ready means 300+ users making proposed questions and then if the site goes online to be active enough

@EmC I think emoji usage is 1) flavor of the month based, 2) culture based, 3) opinion based. Sounds like it'll make great stack content ;)
oh, along with a good amount of nsfw content

I always looked for an SE site for asking trivial questions.

While I can agree that showing empathy is usually a good thing, I just can't do so for someone who willingly put others like in dangers. As for trying to help her, this is not the first time she drives drunk, she's been arrested for it, several times, we tried to help her, offering to drive for her when she goes to party, but she still continued to drive drunk, at this point, I don't have any help I can, or want to, offer her. — user3399 1 min ago

To all the "that sounds like you have something in mind" comments: That is not perse true. I tend to overthink and end up messing myself up. Wether I did something or not. TS can have the same as it's not uncommon. — Martijn 28 secs ago

its not an aic but it is nln, should that be tp or fp

@AlexRobinson if it's not a good comment it's a tp, not matter which reason it got caught for =)

Can you please explain why do you think this will work? Did you do something similar in the past and it worked? Did you read something about it in a book? To be honest, I find your way quite (passive) aggressive towards the friends. I would feel uncomfortable if someone would just shoo me, only because they have a right. There are several points I disagree with, and before me going into the details, you should make an update, to explain, as I mentioned. — virolino 14 secs ago

10:18 AM
@AlexRobinson yw, it was troubling for me too at first :p

I think it is troubling for everyone. I had the same problem too and I can't remember anyone who hadn't ^^

The bot gives the impression that if you do tp it will associate it with the regex that caught the comment which I believe it's not

that was my exact concern lol

@CaldeiraG well... it actually does.
(was looking for a Closet example but seems like chumpbot does not understand !!/ statements like IPS comment bot used to)
so, sorry, can't prove my point shrug
:p
nevermind, @Ælis helped me
So when you tp something it adds to the associated regex(es) stats, like this:
in The Closet, 46 secs ago, by chumpbot
 Type | # Matched | % of Matched | % of All Type | % of ALL Comments
--------------------------------------------------------------------
  tp  |     1     |    50.0%     |  3.84615385%  |   0.12562814%
  fp  |     0     |     0.0%     |     0.0%      |       0.0%
Total |     2     |      -       |       -       |   0.25125628%
^this is an example of how good "i\Wwould\Wbe" is supposed to be on questions

10:33 AM
@avazula Not sure it actually add. This command also work for new regex, so I think every comment are stored and rescanned when you do a "howgood"

@Ælis what I meant is that when you tp or fp it says to the bot whether it's a good regex

@avazula Isn't it more like saying to the bot if it's a good comment and the bot then extrapolate from that to let you know if the regex is good?

@Ælis I'm sorry, I don't understand the difference between the two options

It's not really important, so maybe we could just drop it?

cc @scohe001 :p
I don't understand much either but I see what you're trying to tell

Personally, I would also add to that (indirectly), that I will show understanding for and respect her decision regardless of whether she feels comfortable to re-establish this friendly relationship or not. Have you tried turning the argument back round and pointing it at your friends? So, rather than it being you who's a 'bad friend', it's them who are condoning drunken behaviour that's liable to kill people? In fact, do you even want to continue being friends with these people? — Aaron F 23 secs ago

@AJ hehe aren't those the best kind? :P
@CaldeiraG @Ava @Alex @Ælis I completely agree the wording is a little weird. We say "caught correctly" even though the comment may not have been "caught" by anything (since there are so many ways for a comment to be reported here without any regexes now). I'm all for updating that wording. Maybe "Marked this comment as not a good fit for the site (tp)."? Any better ideas?

honestly, the wording is a bit "off" but it is very concise which i feel is more important - it just needs to be explained to everyone once

@scohe001 "not a good fit" seems weird, but all the other phrasing I have could be perceived as a bit rude ^^ But yeah, I like your new phrasing much better than the old one (which really wasn't explicite)

As with buses and public transport (and parking) you let people inside out so you can go inside. If the person inside let you in then they usually hold the door and make a "welcome" hand gesture to encourage you to enter. — SZCZERZO KŁY 3 mins ago

@Rainbacon Arf, not cool :/

There was a slack message sent yesterday, but it was sent after I left work and didn't use any sort of ping, so I didn't get a notification

That really sucks. I hate it when people send you message from one day to the other and expect you to read them even though you aren't at work

Any particular reason why you think practicality might differ from politeness? Also just to be certain: you want a answer that presumes either of the involved is holding open the door but the answer HAS to be independent of whom holds it open? Or can that be considered in that be considered for the approach, too? — dhein 1 min ago

@AJ ooh I like this one! That's an optimistic outlook on life--enjoying the little things :)
@Ælis @Alex How about "Marked this comment as removable from IPS (tp)."? And then fp can be "Marked this comment as good for IPS (fp)." I'm fine with anything, these would all be trivial changes, so it's no skin off my back :p

i like that!

Oh that'd be great. If it could change the chat ping sound and then ping you when it does it so only you hear it lol

You could write a userscript to do that

4:33 PM
Yea but then y'all would all have to download and use that userscript. I can't control that :(

downloading things onto my work laptop? good joke lol
