Q: My future in-laws do not approve of my non-vegetarian diet

TikkaMy boyfriend and I have been dating for over a year now. We are both from India but I am a Bengali and he is a Gujarati. Bengalis eat meat (We even worship fish) whereas Gujaratis are mostly pure vegetarians. My boyfriend does not eat meat and personally is not against my diet. Both of us love ha...

@CaldeiraG Why, not a good president to have?
Good afternoon :)

@Tinkeringbell André Ventura, yes
i'll sum up by saying he wants a reformulation of the entire government, end up NHS, prohibit gay marriage, etc
right-wing extremist

12:47 PM
Oof :(
He was already president before the election, if I see it right?
Oh no wait.
Well it still sucks but at least he didn't get the majority vote ;)

@Tinkeringbell XD
@Tinkeringbell exactly
i just wonder how the 2026 elections will be like without Marcelo

I won't try and make any predictions. I know too little of Portuguese politics and even less about the future! :P

@Tinkeringbell :P
fair enough

Good news: I'm finally getting work done again, after endless meeting last week. Bad news: It is despite someone, not thanks to their work :/

@Tinkeringbell :/

I am quickly figuring out that I don't like this person, and how chaotic they are. Last week I had some very, very productive daily calls with the people that I needed to work with to fix the problem, and they were absent. Those calls were also more 'spontaneous', in that we didn't have a set time for them, we just called whenever we had updates/needed each other.
This morning they decided to schedule a call, with 2 other people that aren't actually involved in solving this (they do know about the problem, but aren't assigned to fixing), themselves, me and the two other guys that have been working on it since last week... We spent 20 minutes and got out of that meeting needing our own calls
I guess I should ask on TWP how to deal with it. Being blunt so far hasn't helped...

So, everyone is saying we will have a 3rd lockdown really soon and that they will announce it Thursday. And really, I was fine with this curfew thing, but the idea of travel restriction is stressing me out (especially since I will need to travel for medical reasons in two weeks). And I wish that they would announce it already because not knowing is the worst and I am having a hard time focusing on work will all this unknown.
Also, I was planning on taking a week of holidays to go to the mountain but as long as I don't know if we will have travel restriction or not, I can't make a decision about that ><
Though, right now, it really is looking like I won't be able to go :'(

@Ael :( But wouldn't medical reasons for travelling be an exception? I mean, I understand you couldn't go to the mountains (and that sucks) but do you know if previous lockdowns allowed travelling for medical reasons and maybe that can help a tiny bit with reducing stress?

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Travelling for medical reason will be ok. But I really don't want to talk to cops and explain that I am travelling for medical reasons.

Ahh. Can you take someone with you to do that talking?
Or just hand over a paper, so there won't be any talking?

Ael
Having someone else with me won't be possible. And for the paper, I'm pretty sure that they will still ask follow up questions

I mean, I'm white so I should be fine with cops. But one can never know. Especially when I look very queer and am autistic (so I won't have a "good" body language)

Hmm. The only experience I have with French cops are the ones near Disneyland. Those seemed relatively okay, you could approach them and ask for directions, and they didn't get mad...
But yeah, I get why you might be nervous about that.

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Ah yeah, but those are "cops for (wealthy) tourist" so they tend to be nice with you

Ah, I didn't know there would be that much difference. A cop is a cop to me ;)

Q: Someone has a tendency to ask overly open ended questions right after I finish saying something, as if to make me speak more

PoaceousSomeone I know has a tendency to ask vague questions right after I finish speaking. I don't know why he does this but I don't think it's because he's curious about the answer. There's a few examples I could give. For example when I came back from a trip I said "a vacation was just what I needed" ...
