-1 going stright for narcisism seems completly off to me. Some people are just realy bad at being organized, keeping track of time and stuff. Assuming bad intent almost never leads to good results. — BagiM 2 mins ago

A J
So, only mods are up here? ;P

seems so :p

o.o

A J
Some seems like waking up. ;p

Breakfast was just eaten, so now I only have to drink my orange juice ;)

7:40 AM
@AJ I've been up for three and a half hours

2,5 here, now.
How's the other side of the country? :)

Not there yet... ride was late, etc

Ugh... :P
On a side note... anyone here know a way (short of full blown bandages) to cover a scab and prevent yourself from picking it... that's also not a bandaid? My skin has decided to start reacting even worse to the glue, on even the 'hypo allergenic' ones :/
(And yes, my nails are already cut as short as possible :/ )

Straightjacket. *nods helpfully*

Thanks, but I don't think my boss will approve, it needs to also not limit productivity at work XD

8:17 AM
@Tinkeringbell Try to rub the area surrounding the scab. This should work.

Morning! Afternoon @AJ :)

A J
Afternoon!

8:37 AM
@AJ really? Worth a try, I guess

A J
Try not to rub the scab. It will make it only worse.

Somehow yesterday I cutted my finger but only the first layer of skin which is nice :D

A J
I once cut a bit of top of the index finger along with the nail as a kid. That nail didn't grow properly for a few months.

A Møøse once bit my sister

What was she doing near a moose?

I think it's because when the scientist heard about the virus he/she went "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa". — Mr. King yesterday
lol xP

because it originated in the castle of aaaaaaaaaaaaargh? haha monty python jokes continue

So, apparently, my current medication is having too much effect on me, which means that I am way too much uninhibited x) So, if you want to ask me question that I might not have answer otherwise, now is the time :p

8:58 AM
omg the link that was in comments is just gold

@avazula XD what even is that page

@avazula aahahaha

@avazula lol

@Ælis would you rather eat 100 tiny ice cones or 1 mansized monster cone?

@kscherrer 100 tiny ice cones. But I don't know why I would ever do that :p

9:07 AM
@Ælis what's the purpose of odd-eyed cats?

@Ælis I don't know either but if it ever comes to that decision, you now know what to do

@avazula To be loved by odd people? :p (Am I missing something here? Was there an hidden reference or something?)
@kscherrer I sure will :p

@Ælis you asked us to ask you questions, so..

@kscherrer Yeah, but why ask about odd-eyed cat? I find this question rather... odd :p (badum tsum)

I don't know, why do I ask about monster sized ice cones? just random things 😀 I thought avas question was great just because it was nonsensical
great answer btw

9:17 AM
@Ælis Ah, this is going to be fun :P
Can we play a game of 'Guess when @Ælis has their meds fixed'? :)

@Tinkeringbell You might be able to tell indeed (though I do hope, I won't completely lose all the confidence that the meds are giving me right now). It seems like I wouldn't have been able to ask me coworker to call me Ælis if the meds weren't acting so strong on me. So, I'm glad for this uninhibited phase, even though I know it can be dangerous (fearless people tend to do stupid and dangerous things ^^)

Morning
My cat is just being a normal cat and throwing everything from the table on the floor

Hello!

@Ælis :) Seems that you still know some limits ;)
@Belle I suggest teaching the cat that's not nice by letting said cat experience being thrown from the table on the floor? ;)

@Tinkeringbell Cat is perfectly aware of not being allowed on the table and jumps off as soon as I stand up from my desk.
As soon as I sit back down, cat is back on the table though. I guess the cats are my owner, not the other way around

9:31 AM
@Tinkeringbell My brain know them. My feelings are like "let's do some crazy stuff, it will be fun!" :p Then I have to remember myself that I probably won't be like that anymore in ~2 weeks so, maybe, let's not put fire in my life because future me won't like it x)
@Belle You can try throwing water at them just after they misbehave. I have read that, if the cat is young enough, it will successfully teach them not to do bad stuff

9:45 AM
Apparently, we should go work in another country (@ava): 149351115.v2.pressablecdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/…
(or not, because this doesn't take into account the "who is paying for social security" fact)

10:07 AM
@Ælis If it could relieve me of my troubles with the tax services I'd go without giving it a second thought

@avazula I'm pretty sure there is tax troubles in every countries. Sorry about that ^^

I reached out to them about 10 days ago and they asked me for some additional info and now they doubled my previsional rate but didn't correct my matrimonial situation (I appear as being single but my partner appears as married). So what I think happened is that they put both our taxes on my bank account but didn't correct my matrimonial status and now I'll have to pay for both of us and Mr Ava's gonna continue to pay for themselves as well.
I'm just so sick of it

@avazula :/ Lots of love and courage to you <3
@chump give us a cat please

Taxes are the worst

10:11 AM
yay, cat

@avazula Do you want to hear about my administration trouble? Maybe it will cheer you up? (my sister do like to hear about other people problems when she is having some. It makes her feel less alone)

@Ælis I'm more on the opposite side (i.e. it makes me sadder) but if you wanna talk about it feel free to do so :)

@avazula Nah, I think I already rant about that on Discord. No need to rehash it if it makes you sadder :)
Plus, thanks to my way too efficient medication, my mood is absolutely great. So, I don't need people to comfort me right now :)

@Ælis I'll check it tonight if I'm feeling better :) it's great to hear you're feeling better. I'm glad <3

@avazula I'm glad too :) Even though, I'm dangerously "high" right now ^^ At least, now I know that 1) this drugs is definitively working for me and 2) what it feels like to be really happy for absolutely no reason :p

10:23 AM
@chumpbot dog?

yay :)

10:53 AM
I just spent at least an hour, writing a beautiful handwritten letter (lack of printer) to the tax office, because they want to know why I'm asking for a €5000 tax refund.
Handwriting a letter for an hour is worth €5000 for me. Hopefully they won't mind it's handwritten.

@Belle Oo I hope you will get your refund!

I hope so too! That's a nice amount of money!

It's definitively is indeed!

I made this keyring for my fiancé on the weekend :)

thats not a dragon... :P

I know x) he was bothering me about it all weekend, so I decided to make it. Took me two hours or so.
Maybe three. Probably three.

It's cute! :D

That was the goal :D
He took it to work yesterday, already received one request to make another one XP

@Tinkeringbell aaaaand arrived

11:26 AM
@Belle Wow, that looks amazing! I can't believe you did it in three hours!

@Belle <3 that's so cute, I love it. I'd love to utilise my freetime better to gain skills like yours, but it's so much work :P

You know what they say, practice makes perfect :)
I really like doing it though
Best part of working from home: access to your own kitchen. Lunch today is parsnip soup with chanterelle

@Mithical That took waaaay too long ;)
@Belle Do you make things on request? :)

@Tinkeringbell Yeah, although not often. Most people don't want to pay what I ask x)
But the keyrings are somewhat affordable, since they're small

11:42 AM
@Belle How much do you ask? Also, any idea about how much it would cost to send it to France? ^^'

I ask 10 euro for the keyring version. Let me check how much shipping is.
Shipping appears to be freaking expensive. It's €9 T.T

@Belle Yeah, that's a complaint I've heard before, a lot! :D
It's also the reason why I either make stuff as a gift or not at all ;)
My next 'project' is going to be challenging...

@Belle :o

10$ for 3 hours work and materials.. you're selling yourself short. but then again you aren't trying to make a business of it I guess

@Belle Okay, yeah, I won't pay twice the price because of the shipping >< But 10€ seems fair to me

11:49 AM
Mice again, this time they ate the blanket I gifted mom and which she left outside this winter :/

@Ælis Understandable :)

@Tinkeringbell Oh no :(

Arf :/
But the blanket is beautiful otherwise!

It looks fixable but I need to reorder yarn...
I just gifted the leftovers away a few months back :/
I hope I can get the same colour.
@Ælis Thank you :) It was the first blanket I made :)

11:53 AM
@kscherrer It's something I enjoy doing. The price is more of a way to get my materials back + a deterrent for people to ask me to make things for them all the time. I already have a decent job, don't need another one :)

yeah if you see it as a way to finance your hobby it sounds fair for all :)

@Tinkeringbell Otherwise, you can always do as some ancient culture do: use gold (or, in this case, really bright colors) to fix things. You can still see it as been broken, but the fact that you used gold, make it looks like you "earn" it

There's a notable price difference between friends asking a commission, acquaintances asking for one and me setting a price point for a particular pattern I like and finished objects for sale, though. Like, I could sell a finished scarf for €50, but if someone wants to commission it, the same item might be €100.

@Ælis ;) That's a neat idea but not something I'd do with bright colours. I'd be more likely to pick one that fits the palet of colours in the blanket ;)

That blanket is so awesome <3 My grandmother would have loved it

12:09 PM
well, go ahead, let me pay 10€ instead of 9.99€ :P
(Portugal does a lot of that)

@Belle If you ever want to make one, let me know. A few of the squares are now again behind a paywall, but I bet I still have them lying around somewhere ;)
@CaldeiraG Same here, things are rounded to 0.05 or multitudes of that. But the coins are still legal currency so if someone offers you five single cents you're not allowed to refuse them

@CaldeiraG I used that to my advantage a lot as a kid. I received a €0.50 weekly allowance, and my favourite candy bar was €0.28 and my favourite drink €0.23. Buy them together = profit.

@Tinkeringbell of course :)
@Belle :p nice!
I have a few 1 and 2 cent pennies on my wallet for like 3 months because the machines at work only likes 5-cent :p

@Ælis I was wondering, how does it work when I want to say "Ælis is amazing". Is that "Ælis est geniál" or something else?

@Belle "Ælis est génial·e"
the point being used in French for inclusive writing, as it's a strongly gendered language

12:19 PM
impressionnant·e can work too?

that way it combines both masculine and feminine writings to make this "neutral/non-binary" shape

portuguese is no different i guess, so is spanish

Interesting. I was wondering about that for a while. I learned French in school, but that was over a decade ago (heh, I'm really starting to feel old).

@CaldeiraG it's closer to "impressive". You'd say that if they had "incredible strength" or if they were "incredibly smart" (I'm not saying you're not, @Ælis :p it's for the sake of the example)

@avazula i see :)

12:21 PM
@Belle You could also say "iel est super" (they're great) or "iel est trop cool"

You can also include Portuguese on this question. — CaldeiraG Nov 26 '19 at 11:56

Well, then. Je pense q'iel est génial·e. :)

@Belle your French is better than ours <3

Je m'appelle Caldeira. That's it xD

I'm practicing for my trip to France :P

12:23 PM
@Belle When?

A week somewhere in May. I should have the 11th to the 24th off.

:curiosity intensifies:

A man took his 6-year-old daughter to his office on 'Take your kid to work day'
As they walked around the office, the girl turned visibly upset and soon started crying. Her father asked her what was wrong
As everyone gathered around, she sobbed "Daddy, I'm getting bored walking around the office. Please show me those clowns you said you work with"

hahahaha

Just a general vacation. We're planning to take our kayaks down some rivers in the south.
We're looking at the dordogne or ardèche and maybe verdon

12:32 PM
I don't know Dordogne but the other two are amazing

I've been to the first two a long time ago and have very fond memories of both
Our plan was to book a week or so beforehand and go to the one with the best weather :P
During the ardeche trip with my parents, there was incredibly heavy rain and the river rose so much the camping we were on flooded

o_o

It was either the summer of 2001 or 2002, there was so much rain
We ended up being evacuated. I vaguely remember that trip home. The motorway looked like a river, with waterfalls to the side too.
My parents stayed in touch with the camping owners afterwards, we left just in time, we had managed to leave by car successfully. The people who wanted to leave a day later had to be rescued by helicopter.
Rest of the vacation was fantastic though, and at least I have a story to tell :P no helicopter ride though

12:51 PM
@AJ omg XD

1:18 PM
@Belle @avazula, Now, you two are making me blushing <3 And for the record, you are both absolutely, wonderfully amazing too!

Q: How to tell someone that I'm on the autism spectrum while mitigating the risk of not been believed?

ÆlisI'm on the autism spectrum. My manager knows about that but my coworkers don't. I have been working here for a little more than a year and not telling my coworkers that I'm on the spectrum is really becoming a burden for me. I feel like I'm stuck in a big, dark, dusty closet and that I'm a liar...

I hate it when devs try to justify their own incompetence by bullshitting me grrrr
I mean, it's ok to not know some stuff. But, please, just admit it!

Q: "Kicking the dog", ie post hoc anger at third parties

user27794Don't worry no actual dogs are involved. I'm interested in trying to understand a behavior that I've noticed for much of my life (and I'm not young). I want to try to understand the motivations and generally "what's going on". It doesn't refer to a single incident but a pattern. I'm generally a ...

@ExtrovertedMainMan I'm not sure I understand the question :/

2:19 PM
The girl probably got fired but holy heck he did deserve it

@ExtrovertedMainMan huh, there's actually a wikipedia page for that phrase
here, if anyone wants to write an answer based on sources ;) (I won't have time for a while)

Q: How to reveal you're not being your true self

ConfusedHumanA friend of mine got into a relationship after a long drought. Her partner is very sensitive and would react badly to many of her mannerisms - jokes, sarcasm and some ways of saying things that she always did - so at the start of the relationship she started behaving differently to avoid conflict...

Not sure if anyone has shared here yet, but I found this a pretty cool look back at the craziness that's been the last few months: stackexchange-timeline.webflow.io

@scohe001 some weird omissions there.. still a work in progress? like, doesn't have the post explaining why all those sites went out of beta on the same day, or the post announcing when they updated the HNQ guidelines
also not sure how legit it is to steal the favicon :p

@EmC I was wondering that.
Like, just because you can get away with it doesn't mean you should...

5:34 PM
yeahh.. especially considering there's no text indicating who actually is behind this page

yeah that doesn't lend well to it's credibility

I saw it on twitter earlier, I think it was a SO mod(?) but I'd have to search...

Worth noting the timeline goes back a long way. This is most likely an old project.

Sam Liew

@scohe001 Am I the only one who finds this depressing?

5:45 PM
@Ælis Nope.

'The situation' goes back a long time. A lot longer than I expected

@Belle Where you "here" when the whole "Monica situation" started and when they changed the CoC?

@Ælis nope ... definitely seems biased towards the negative stuff IMO

@Mithical yup, Sam is the one who set it up. Sounded like they're still adding stuff tho

@EmC Yeah, I have this feeling too

5:49 PM
I see @Mithical already mentioned a missing post about the mass beta graduations :p

@Ælis Not in the chat, but I was following SE.

@Belle Well, if you weren't reading MSE, that's most certainly a very good thing (and if you were indeed reading it... well...)

I tended to read the featured posts

MSE has been fun lately....

@Belle So you probably didn't see the worst of it. That's certainly for the best

6:27 PM
@Mithical did they at least stop talking about "the transes" all the time?

y'all are fast on the like button on twitter :p
