7:00 PM
@Tinkeringbell seriously? Wow - that's terrifying - okay, helmets are irrelevant to that bunch then :-)

I do admit that the one time I cycled with my noise cancelling headphones, it was a bit scary to rely only on vision.

I only wear earbuds at the pump track :P
This is my helmet.

@RoryAlsop Totally different infrastructure. We get bicycle lanes and traffic lights. ;)
@Mithrandir Nice! :D

Yeah, it was especially nice as I didn't have to pay for it :P

@Tinkeringbell true - you do that properly. Although the cycling in Amsterdam was not controlled or safe when I was there - bikes, mopeds, cars and trucks everywhere

7:01 PM
@RoryAlsop It looks like it is more a matter of lucky and not effort. Given how many abusive relationships that just keep going, it must be that.

@RoryAlsop Amsterdam isn't even safe for pedestrians.
But I did see the helmet of my coworker today, who just had a crash this weekend. He does the speed cycling thing, and was going about 30 when his group hit a car that suddenly crossed the bicycle lane.

He'd have had a serious concussion and head wound if he wouldn't have worn his helmet.

Ouch. a.) that driver's an idiot b.) your coworker needs a new helmet

@Tinkeringbell I approve for speed cycling, and if I cycle across from Edinburgh to Glasgow (about 60 miles) I wear a helmet, and protective armour on wrists etc. But for city stuff I prefer to hear what is coming at me

@Mithrandir And a lot of bike repairs.

Did they happen to get the license plate? Can they sue the driver?

7:05 PM
@RoryAlsop Well, if you're only going about 20 kilometres an hour or less, you don't wear a helmet over here ;-) But if you do get hit by a car, it comes with a risk of a more severe head injury.
@Mithrandir I don't know about sue, but they did the whole insurance thing ;)

@Tinkeringbell true - stats are just good on the avoiding impacts at low speeds is improved without a helmet. Higher speeds the protection takes precedence.

Usually people over here are actually pretty relaxed when it comes to suing others ;)
@RoryAlsop In a few years all cars will be electric and you have to rely on only vision as you can't hear them coming, so XD

@Tinkeringbell that is a scary thought. I'm a firm believer in the "loud pipes save lives" school of thought for motorbikes, and I think that holds true in the other direction too

@RoryAlsop Hahaha you just say that because your bike probably makes an unholy amount of noise :P
(scratch the probably, you sent me a youtube vid a while back :P)

@Tinkeringbell I thought it did, but was at a meet on Saturday with a few hundred others and mine was definitely one of the quieter ones

7:09 PM
vimeo.com/131968609 < fun to watch, btw ;)
@RoryAlsop I don't think I would've liked hearing the others ;)

@Tinkeringbell Really pleasant and soothing, as most were Harleys, so very low rumbling noise. None of those screaming high pitched speed bikes ;-P
@Tinkeringbell heh - that's cool

@RoryAlsop Okay, maybe. But I don't think so, still :P

I didn't turn the engine sounds down, just added some Metaltech :-)

@RoryAlsop I think that's the one you sent me before ;)

7:35 PM
ah - fair enough...sorry
How about this one - youtu.be/1WrY-sfdiFg?t=22
Different Harley I borrowed last year

7:47 PM
@RoryAlsop Superweird to see you driving on the wrong side of the road ;)

@Tinkeringbell And all of them are as big as a handball
@Mithrandir That is so you.
@Alex I don't think we can be friends. ಠ_ಠ

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ If you have something against the number 95, I'll note that it's now 96.

Oh we can definitely be friends then.
Hides a revolver behind his back
@Tinkeringbell You can borrow my bike, but it isn't cheap.
@Mithrandir IKR, that has been one of the biggest philosophical questions of our time.
"Where to put my feet"
@RoryAlsop IIRC a study or a couple showed that helmets mean more accidents because people are usually more careful about them.
@RoryAlsop Whoa, cyclists there don't do that? What's next, you're gonna ask me to take you to our Earth leader?

May 12 at 19:38, by M.A.R. ಠ_ಠ
@Alex Well, his foot wasn't particularly delicious, unlike most other baby feet
In your mouth, apparently.

8:02 PM
@Tinkeringbell Tangled? Can you weaponize your hair?
And that's about all the lame jokes I can make on the chat that I missed.
@Alex I didn't say it's a problem for me. P.S. I'm not gonna repeat that again.
With his downvote/upvote ratio, I can see why he's so bitter.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ So that should make me... sweet?

@Alex You're too much saccharine.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Is that a good thing?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Almost. Have been thinking of cutting it all off again, it's getting to be too much work ;)
In other news... I might just hit the rep cap again today for the first time in a looong while.
Which would be nice :) It almost makes me like being back on HNQ ;)

@Alex You're sickeningly sweet.
@Tinkeringbell Almost? You ain't fooling anyone around here

8:16 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Sick!

@Tinkeringbell Seems like you not wanting to work was worth it :p

@Tinkeringbell I'm not sure I like being back on HNQ because I think I probably won't be the highest scoring user of the year for very much longer

@Rainbacon :( yeah, it comes with that risk too.
@Ælis Ehhm I have to work all the harder tomorrow :P

@Rainbacon Oh, don't worry, with or without HNQ I still intend to gain more rep than you :p

@Ælis Not if you keep getting serial downvoted :p
@Tinkeringbell Though I do have my (I believe) first ever answer on an HNQ question now

8:25 PM
@Rainbacon Haha! I knew it was you! :p

@Rainbacon no way to check, as there was no history before. But yeah, seems like it! Congratulations

But my rep has only gone up today ;)
Aww thanks, I was actually thinking about deleting it since you didn't find it particularly helpful. But I may leave it there for future generations because I want the HNQ points
Oooh, Tink's current rep is 22777
That's a nice number

@Rainbacon Probably won't stay like that for long, but that's definitively a nice number!

Shucks, can't downvote on Eeps.

All right, I need to go eat before going to bed. See you tomorrow people! (I'm writing that down to force me to actually do what I said)

8:30 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Quick, go say something controversial in an answer to Tink's question that's on HNQ. You'll get a ton of rep really quick and I'll get some free "helpful" flags towards my marshal badge when I nuke you post :)

@Rainbacon Your intentions seem honest. I should go do it.
WAIT A MINUTE.

8:47 PM
@Ælis Sleep well!
@Rainbacon I'll mod nuke it before you even see it

@Tinkeringbell Funny thing, my little brother wanted to mess with me one day and he went and posted two R/A answers on ELL.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Funny brother. Suspended! ;)

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ This is you:

Q: Someone upvoted all of my answers to get me banned

user10867010My annoying brother made an account just to upvote all of my answers, to try to get me banned; It worked and I'm now wondering if there's anything I can do about this, or if anything can be done to prevent this in the future. We share a computer so I assume the fact that the votes came from the ...

@Alex khkh I wish.
Posting R/A on Eeps and blaming it on long lost uncle

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I can help.
Wait, you wouldn't actually know if I was your brother, would you?

8:58 PM
You post the R/A, I'll flag it.
@Alex I would. He's now snoring and doesn't have access to any electronic devices
Do you snore when you chat?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Your other brother.

The one that misspells "your" and triggers me?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Let's do a test. Smack your brother in the face, and see if I post "ouch".

You're vaguely familiar, uh, Dave.
Ouch.
Plot twist!

You're your own brother? (spelled correctly this time)

9:02 PM
My own other's own brother

This is almost like the Science Fiction & Fantasy room, where it's been determined that I am everyone.
