Not really. He basically always has had a carte blanche, he could do what he wanted because he was the only developer on his team and people believed him when he said this or that was the only/best way to do something.
Which is okay, but once you add me to that one man team, you'll have to be able to explain your code and processes, so I can do it too. Also, this means now there will be code reviews and two people using your repository on version control.
