Q: How to make small talk with a stranger that's way older than you?

Avnish KabajIn the past few months my parents have started to expect me to entertain guests if they aren't at home. That's completely acceptable and a very reasonable request but I have absolutely no idea what to talk about. Generally if it's someone my age I try to probe around asking questions until I find...

8:23 AM
Morning!

How's your Monday? :)

Productive. But I am stressed a bit the last weeks from trying to find a flat. Trial period is almost over my Flat is terminated for the 1st of may and the pension lease is canceled for the 1st of April. I visited so far a bit over 10 Flats here and none of them was offered to me. It is a pure stress trying to find a flat in an area close to a company with 15.000 employees '^.^
What about you? :)
Especially, 15.000 not too bad earning Employees >.<

Chaotic. There's a lot of people on vacations, and I'm suddenly responsible for messes they created.

Grrrr. Such a weird place you are at :x

8:28 AM
Flat hunting is horrible. I've been trying to find a nice one to buy for a few years now (granted, I switched a few times with regards to preferred area and have not been very actively looking at times).

...morning...

you're up waaay too early!
But morning :)

I mean... it is 10:30 already
And I do have to wake up before 8:30 every day, it just takes a bit of time to arrive here :P

Only 9:30 here :P
@dhein It'll be fine once I'm on the next team (which will basically be tomorrow ;) )

8:41 AM
@Tinkeringbell yay!

Yay indeed... ;)

@Tinkeringbell Well in my first region the only flat I ever "hunted" was I picked one that was in the range I could effort. I went there. Said I dont really care and got it offered... Here now it is... I can't really dare to say I don't care.... I actually started practicing lieying and probing in a conversation for what the other person wants to hear. What is quite a difficult but even more so useful skill for an autie :D Started applying it the last 3 flats I visited. I am curious of the outcome ^^
@Mithrandir morning :)
@Tinkeringbell And yeh... hipp hipp houray :P

@dhein Oh... that sounds like a lot of effort just to get a flat... Are you talking to private owners (people owning just one flat in the building) or more like corporations (that often own the entire building)?

@Tinkeringbell I talk to who ever has a flat listed available for rent in this area. xD So far all of what you mention was part of it ^^
But the last 3 were I in fact started telling not full truths about my own intentions regarding the flats, were in fact all the owners of the full house where someone left a flat in. As that made totally sense.
Like "yeah I am totally into gardening, and this flat is one of my favorites, cause I totally would love to have my own garden" or "Nono, I am not a smoker, I absolutely don't like having these awkward smells in the place I live"... I mean the gardening... yeah I would care for the garden if I have one... but saying it that way gives me no advantage.... same as just giving the flat to non smokers..... How they dare... Its my own thing as long I dont smoke within the flat...

@dhein Be careful with the lying then, people might easily see through it.
Perhaps better to say 'I'd like to take care of the garden', instead of overdoing it and saying you're crazy about gardening ;)

8:56 AM
Keep in mind, I am an autie. I think what people read from my nonverbal communications is random anyways. So chances are equally for trusting me when overdoing it as if not trusting me when saying the truth '^.^
Or from my subtext here in this case.
And so far as said, the first 10 flats before I started trying this, I got with all of them rejected. So I don't see how it could go worse than that ^^

Well, I'm curious to know how it works out! :)

Yeh same for me x)
And I heard from some landlords so far, that they listed their flat (closer than 5 KM to SAP) for 1~2 days and they got in that time already like 30 requests of interested persons. So somehow I HAVE to stand out.
....Maybe I should increase the radius around SAP I am looking in a bit further than 15 km. But the Pension I am in being just 3.5 KM to work is a level of living I got used to, and I don't really want to move somewhere where I again will spent significant parts of my day commuting.... Thats allways so unpredictable :x

@dhein 15 KM would be doable? How's the biking over there, you could buy an electric bike and be at work in 30 minutes :)

9:15 AM
@Tinkeringbell I am not sure what you are asking. ^^ 15~20 KM is the current radius I am looking in. And even at the 20KM margin, there is still quite some competition for the flats. So I meant increasing the Radius to like 30Km+. But thats something I wouldn't really want if I can avoid it.

@dhein Oh, then I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted to go from a 5km radius to 15 :)
30 might already be a bit much, yes :)

Nono, getting a flat in the 5Km radius is like winning the lottery. As said, for these flats they get easily up to 30 requests withing just 2 days.

Well, one can still hope to win the lottery (but you have to buy a ticket ;) )
30 is a lot, but with some luck and trying often enough ;)

True. I am hoping for it. The flat with the garden is actually 2.3KM to work. :P And I might have realistic chances for that one if my statement how I feel about gardening appeared honest '^.^
So widdle me your thumbs(fingers?) :D

fingers crossed you mean?

9:19 AM
Nono, I meant the dutch equivalent of pressing thumbs xP
@avazula But feel free to cross me your fingers aswell, I could need it xP

@dhein I definitely will! I know how hard it is to find a flat. I'm so lucky I found mine so quickly. Moving out this weekend!

@avazula Hehe, thanks :) And cool, you like it? :)

@dhein It's actually gorgeous
This is the pond in front of my new house

I wouldn't swim in it. But it makes a beautiful view :)

Woah, nice.

9:23 AM
@avazula It's beautiful indeed * - *

Whats the watermark in that picture? :P

@dhein I think it's the agency that took care of advertising for the flat

Ahhh :D Then they should maybe have photoshopped the hue of the pond x'D

^^

I already had the chance to get a flat. They had aswell a little lake close to it in a very remote valley village. hills all around for hiking. It was beautifull.... And I even got it offered.... But then I realized they only Have 6.000 Kbs connection there, share over 6 partys in that house.... would have made homeoffice impossible. :/
Meeeeh >.>
Just got a rejection email for the flat with garden v.v

Just to be clear : you want him to ask you if he can come, is it because you just want him to be polite, or because you don't want him to come over anymore and you feel that you can only say no if he asks ? — MlleMei 1 min ago

@avazula Good Afternoon!

Hello there!

A J
@Tinkeringbell Afternoon!
@avazula Wassup?

9:43 AM
@AJ currently writing tests with Robot Framework. Lets me takes a little break from Vue.JS programming. What about you?

A J
@avazula working. don't know what I am working on

@AJ what? haha

Dont worry.... keep smiling.... I just started writing an answer to this: interpersonal.stackexchange.com/questions/21015/… and when I wanted to post it, I got informed that the author deleted it already >.>

:/

@dhein Well, hopefully they just did that to take some time to edit... :/
Otherwise it's really strange

A J
9:50 AM
@avazula there is this stupid issue I can't find out. I created a REST api. When it gets hit from Postman client, it gives response instantly, but when it does from the script, it's taking a hell lot of time.

@AJ why does it make me instantly thinking of proxy issues?

Anyways, my answer is already gone... And I am not sure if I am motivated to rewrite it >.<
I so rarely write answers recently and on this one I felt comfortable as I am really good in having smalltalk myself and then meeeeeh xD

But hey. I am too happy recently to really feel bugged by it x)

A J
@avazula It's possibly not. because everything was working fine until this morning.

mmh. that's weird.

AAARGH. Any GitLab guru's in this room?

9:54 AM
@Tinkeringbell what's happening?

"The" co-worker made a mess of things and is on vacation now.

@AJ But wouldn't that just be another clue hinting to a proxy issue?^^

@Tinkeringbell D: what's the issue? Do you wanna go the the awkward code?

Does that room still exist?

@Tinkeringbell it's frozen but yes

9:55 AM
@Tinkeringbell Funny enough that we know who "the" coworker is. Out of curiosity, is he really that incompetent or are you a bit biased? '^.^

@dhein they genuinely seem unwilling to make things easy

horrible v.v

@dhein Drop into here, read what I'm about to tell and judge for yourself :)

A J
@avazula there was another REST api being called which was causing the issue.

@Tinkeringbell Judging after lunch >.< AFK :)

10:05 AM
@AJ ha. Well I'm glad it's good now.

@dhein Enjoy! :)

@Mithrandir yeah, the contrasts are similiar >.<

Okay, time to get out of hiding everyone ;)

peekaboo

@Tinkeringbell phew phew :P

Hehehe. The Awkward Code is a good room for rubberducking a few coding problems... but we shouldn't move all the chatter there ;)

I still don't get how the workplace link you gave me, explains, why hes not already being sent through the same by others if he does same to them as to you :x
I think I might missunderstand here something, tho.

@dhein Because he's never really had to work with those others. I did, but he has always been 'a one man team'.
Right now he's still the only developer on his team.

Q: How do I introduce my new name to my friends?

Max GómezI am Max and I am a 19 year old college student from Spain. I had a very troubled childhood laced with mental illness and bullying. I have since moved on but I feel like my birth name (not included here) binds me to my past experiences. I already know how I want to be called (Max) but I don't kno...

Oof, time to phone the army again... I really hate phone calls

Breathe in, breathe out... then get stressed because no-one is picking up (repeat as needed until someone pick up :P)

They have a whole maze to wander through... "for this, press 2. For that, press 3. For yon, press 4"

@Tinkeringbell So it is more like he will still be menacing you in other teams, rather than he was also menacing other teams before? Is that what you meant?
@Mithrandir and then you end in a holding line, where they kick you out after 5 minutes to try it later again? Those are my favorites....
To "Not waste your time"....

@dhein I didn't get put on hold last time

1:35 PM
@Mithrandir I was more like continuing your story with my previous experiences. Kinda tried to small talk ^^

Not really. He basically always has had a carte blanche, he could do what he wanted because he was the only developer on his team and people believed him when he said this or that was the only/best way to do something.

Which is okay, but once you add me to that one man team, you'll have to be able to explain your code and processes, so I can do it too. Also, this means now there will be code reviews and two people using your repository on version control. And that's where the problems started: I disagreed with e.g. adding dead code, and his way of working with version control isn't made to
He never really menaced anyone until I came along. I guess I'm just an unlucky 'first encounter with team work'

@Tinkeringbell Then I don't understand why this problem will still persist when you are from tomorrow on in another team where he isn't part of. But don't bother explaining me. I don't want you to loose temper on this. (as I would when I was in your situation and someone kept asking me like I do to you right now >.<) So lets leave it with me joining the wishing you courage folks :)

1:53 PM
@dhein It'll persist in a 'he'll likely send me an e-mail about the inevitable merge conflict and might even expect me to fix it' way.
(I'm not losing my temper with you... it's probably that talking about that co-worker doesn't help with keeping a good mood :) )

@Tinkeringbell ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Here, have some love
Instead of negative thoughts induced by that mean character...

Hahaha thanks :)
Just an hour to go, then I can take a bus/train home :)

yay :D

Well, great... you can only move the date through the website and the website doesn't let me move it to where I need to so that I'll have all my medical stuff done when I go....

Hello!

2:11 PM
@Rainbacon Heya!

3:11 PM
@Rainbacon Hi!

Slow morning

Hey people

Hi @ElizB

yep, it's a holiday today it's slow. I'm doing homework in pajamas :D

@ElizB I'm doing my job in my bath robe...

3:25 PM
@Rainbacon fist bump haha yeah that's what I like too
my pajama shirt is fluffy so it feels like a bathrobe

I don't have the day off, but I'm working from home all week while my company moves to a new office. Didn't feel super motivated to get dressed

i was so tired yesterday I went to sleep around 10:20 last night, and I woke up as usual 8am, but got out of bed 8:20 so I got nearly 9 hours 40 minutes of sleep :D super duper refreshed now

Nice!
I've been getting to bed very late recently. For some reason my bedtime routine has grown to include reading game of thrones fan theories...Then I get down the rabbit hole

heh. My bedtime lately is watching the dragon prince which i am enjoying immensely so far. only 3 episodes left till we're finished with the second season

@ElizB How cool is the ship captain! :-D

3:40 PM
@TheTinyMan oh.my. gosh. so cool.
I don't want to be spoilery in here :P
but wow that parrot can talk hehe so sassy

@ElizB Haha, yep! ^.^

I liked claudia's reaction to zym :P <3 _ <3

@ElizB Claudia is definitely my favorite, I love her reactions to lots of things! :-D

@TheTinyMan hehe yeah. Soren is just... ugh. more of the comedy relief :P

@ElizB Yep. He's exactly why I so often hate comic relief in shows and movies. >.< He's just obnoxious!
Although he could be way, way worse in that regard
I mean he's no Jar-Jar

3:46 PM
@ElizB I was summoned?

Nope, not sassy enough
/trollface

hahaha oop no i wasn't talking about you tink :)

@TheTinyMan Hey! A bit of respect goes a long way :P
@ElizB I know, just kidding ;)

@Tinkeringbell Have you seen it? The Dragon Prince, on Netflix?

The Dragon Prince, on Netflix, with the candlestick.

3:54 PM
My rep on TWP is now exactly 500 and I can't help but find it really satisfying (not because "it's a lot of rep" but because it's such a round number!)

@Tinkeringbell ;-)

@TheTinyMan Obnoxious="let's try this my way! punching stuff!"
@TheTinyMan oh also: "Why are you so weep-ridden?"

@Ælis I appreciate your appreciation of nice round numbers

@Rainbacon Hehe :P

@ElizB No, not yet ;)

4:01 PM
@Tinkeringbell alright

I'm thinking of deleting my sandbox question, because it seems like it might be more of an intrapersonal issue. Anybody have any thoughts?

@Rainbacon I find it a bit broad (it would be better to focus it on a specific situation, IMO) but I don't see it as intrapersonal
(Sorry I didn't take time to read it before :/ )

@Rainbacon I can take a look tonight if you'd like. Or gimme a link and I'll do it now ;)

4:16 PM
Dropped a short comment, I don't think it's really broad, if Rainbacon would accept answers based on the example (and hopefully someone will turn up with an answer that does address the general principles of assertiveness)

I think I might need to find a better example

I think the example is fine ;)

I have a workaround for the eating example because I've explained that sensory overload from my autism is the cause, and people have generally been willing to accept that
It's not that it's a bad example, but answers based on the example may be less useful for me since I already have a solution to that specific example. It was just the easiest one I could think of when I wrote the post

It shows a lot of what goes wrong ;) I can try and give it an edit tonight. Am I right when I suspect that the joking is done to fullfil the 'while respecting the feelings of others' part of assertiveness?

Maybe? Mostly, the situation is uncomfortable. When I am uncomfortable I revert to making jokes to try and dig myself out of the discomfort

4:28 PM
If you're willing to leave it up for a bit more, I'll edit it when I get home and have eaten (might take another three hours though).

I can leave it there for a while

Great. Then I'll try and edit it a bit tonight :)

Thanks

You're welcome!

Q: Was I being too dismissive or abrupt under the following circumstances?

Tom AuRecently, I was in a conversation with family members, siblings, in laws, etc. Someone asked, "What would you do if so-and-so (a family member) dies? @ExtrovertedMainMan That feels like an on-topic question disguised as an off-topic one

@Rainbacon Yeah, this site isn't really the place to discuss wrong or right. Perhaps just phrasing it as 'What could I have done to avoid being seen as dismissive next time' is better. But then I'd like to know a bit more about what their constraints are (e.g. are they willing to give a reason why?). I'll drop a comment in a few minutes if there's none yet, once I've settled behind the PC

I'm working on a comment now

Too late!

Also, I think a better way for the OP to phrase it would be to ask about the social norms

6:10 PM
I'm increasingly thinking that social norms questions aren't workable for IPS, even though they should be (at least broadly) on-topic here

@Rainbacon Two suggestions means there's a choice to pick from!

@upper_case What makes you say that?

@Rainbacon The context required to properly explain a situation (so that we can determine which social norms even potentially apply) is rarely given in the question, and getting additional details can be both difficult and unfocused.

@Upper_Case they're hard. They're on topic insofar as that social norms can influence the interpersonal skills you do or don't use in a situation. But they do require disclosing a lot about the society you're in. And I agree those details are often hard to get.

Perhaps we should have a meta discussion about the best ways to extract that information

6:17 PM
Simultaneously, answers which lack that context will pile up in the meantime. And for answerers, there is a lot that is unexpressed about their own social context, their ability to assess how it is similar/different from the asker's, and how elements of context impact the goal being pursued

They also set a precedent, we've had to close some questions because they were more about sociology or anthropology and not about Interpersonal skills

A meta question is a good idea. Hopefully it won't lead back to the sandbox (which I think is great, but we already have it and it's not used enough to get the full benefit out of it)

There are a lot of meta questions that we need to ask and start discussing. I'm working on one now based on your answer to the question about if we want back on HNQ

Maybe something like "how good can questions and answers be with incomplete context, and at what point do we prefer incomplete/unclear questions and answers versus closing or deleting them"?

@Upper_Case Ehh. I have a few choice words on that :P
Were you around when IPS just left private beta?
9
Q: Are questions that lack a location tag really too broad?

apaulI would like to settle this issue once and for all... It seems to me that voting to close a question purely because it lacks a location tag is actively counter productive. When users think their location is relevant they're free to add it, but it really feels like we're trying to force people in...

Comes to mind ;)

@Tinkeringbell No, I was a latecomer
(I think)

@Upper_Case Grown quick then ;)
So. In the beginning there was much ado over culture tags :)

Aww :)
I can imagine the early days of the site were... impassioned

From looking at your profile it seems that you joined only a few months after the private beta ended

(I must admit I wasn't around for private beta either... I just joined somewhere in July '17).

My knowledge of the history of the site is definitely lacking

6:35 PM
@Upper_Case Well, if you ever have time: Go to meta, sort by newest and start on the last page of questions ;) Should give you an idea.

@Tinkeringbell couldn't one just sort by oldest instead?
Oh, no it appears that's not an option :(

Anyway: The earliest discussions on IPS were about cultural differences, and about writing from experience (amongst some other 'is this on-topic here' questions).
It's kinda been a problem as long as IPS has been around, and to be honest I'm not sure what we can do to fix it.

I'm still gun-shy to answer as a result of some of those discussions. :-P

Does anyone else feel a pang of jealousy whenever they see a HNQ from rpg?

Constantly. Both because I like the visibility of HNQ, and because I wish I'd asked such a popular RPG question

6:37 PM
Little bit...but then I remember what happened any time a HNQ question had the word "sex" in it xD

It looks like that site somehow manages to a.) have little/no 'frame-challenges', b.) have answers written from experience and c.) have people immediately point out to answerers that they need to back up their answer if it's not!

Do we have anyone here who is a regular user of RPG?

And I always get a bit jealous about that if I compare that to IPS, and I don't know how RPG managed to create such a community and if I knew the magic words we'd already have one :P
doppelgreener is a mod there, I sometimes see their avatar in the sidebar.
They're not very talkative in here, though they've been a good help in the past with chat moderation :)

Is it possible that users have a higher expectation of us because the topic of the site is IPS?
For instance, do you think people expect IPS to be nicer than the other stacks?

@Rainbacon I don't really know. I've always thought it may have been a bit the opposite: No matter how nice we are about it, people just seem to really dislike us asking to back up their opinion with experiences. To think before they write. Because there's a 170 something sites in this network, and on a lot of them you don't have to do so.
Things on SO can just be run through a compiler and posted with a message of 'do this, this and this, and it works'.
(really short, I know a great answer there also explains what this, this and this does and why it works ;) )
But you don't have to have programmed a similar thing before to be able to answer a question correctly/good.
Also @Rainbacon: for your sandbox question (currently looking at it)... I get the impression you might've taken a different approach than jokes before, and that ended in conflict? Or has it always been jokes?

6:45 PM
Sort of, my previous approach was to actively avoid the situation entirely

@Upper_Case Anyway, if you'd like to post such a meta question, please go ahead :)
@Rainbacon Ehh. Okay. That's not a detail that needs to be in there.

Like I said earlier, it might help if I came up with a different example. The comments I've gotten in the sandbox make me think a lot of answers will be very specific to that example, and I fear that the skills may be hard to extract and reuse

@Rainbacon Hmm.
Adding two short examples might do it. Like this one?
So keep the one about food, but also add a second one.

Q: Former housemates have left things at my house. How do I get them to take their things?

BenMy wife and I often host various friends of ours who need a short term place to stay (e.g. a 1-2 week gap between leases). Often, when the friend moved out, they've said something like "I can't fit all these things in my car right now. Is it okay if I come back to get the rest later this week...

Also... it might be helpful if you could mention whether or not your co-workers know you're on the spectrum. And do you think they fully understand what this means?
Well, I gave it a quick edit right now, I'll take another look if/when you add the second example :)
I really think this would make a good question to 'practice' moderating answers on ;)

6:54 PM
That might work. I'll take a closer look at how I can add a second example later. I think it would be good if my other example isn't necessarily tied to my autism

:D Good :)
Now... what was I doing.

@Tinkeringbell X'D

What! It would be :)

I'm just finding you a bit "mod-oriented" :p

Full mod mode :P
I've just edited the question a bit. Your answer still stands well, but could you perhaps add a sentence or two on how this isn't dismissive (it's quite obvious to me in this case, but having the explanation black on white always helps set a good example for other answers), and also another sentence or two to explain if/when this has worked for you? — Tinkeringbell ♦ 49 secs ago
Just made an exemplary comment :P
Watch and learn!!! :P

I see that you are in a mood, and it's not even the full moon yet! :p

Isn't it? Looks full enough to me :P

She's always in a mood!

Ah. full moon is tomorrow :P

Oo I had no idea of what the moon looked like when I made this joke XD

@TheTinyMan Are you a tiny man? =)

7:07 PM
@TheTinyMan Mostly good ones ;)
I guess today I was so frustrated at work that now I'm a bit in hypermode ;)

@Jasper Kind of! I'm six and a half feet (200cm) tall! :-)

@TheTinyMan Wow! I guess most men in the Netherlands are of that height!

@Jasper Are they? Man, so I wouldn't be as special if I went there? That's unfortunate!

@TheTinyMan I am only 168 cm tall, or short. =)

@Jasper Ya shrimp! ;-)

7:10 PM
@Jasper You're still a cm taller than me ;)
@TheTinyMan My brothers are around 190.
I got the short genes :(

@Tinkeringbell Why so sad? I'll bet they'll have knee problems earlier in life than you well! Hopefully not as early as I did or at least one would already have 'em! :-(

@Tinkeringbell Aha! I guess the women in the Netherlands are not as tall as the men. I know because I have a Dutch friend.

@TheTinyMan Pfft. With my weight, that's unlikely :(
@Jasper 1 whole data point? :P
(okay, 2 now :P)

@Tinkeringbell No, I asked my friend about the men and women in the Netherlands. =)

Average for men: 183.8 cm. For women: 170.7

7:13 PM
Oops, I am still shorter than the women there, LOL.

That's only taking people that have Dutch predecessors, and are over 21 years old.

Aha! I guess that makes the height bigger.

Does it?

@Jasper Yep. 180,8 cm and 167,5 cm averages for 20+ , also counting those that immigrated here.

My name is also Jasper in Dutch. =)

7:23 PM
I know ;) We had a boy in my high school class named Jasper ;)

I just keep thinking about Steven Universe.

Jasper? Sounds like a name that rocks.

7:38 PM
@Jasper Taller than me...
Everyone is taller than me. :P

I'm 5 foot 3 inches.. (160 cm)...
so yeah most people are taller than me

Oh hey, you're not taller than me. We're the same height! :P

@Mithrandir haha yay :D
@El'endiaStarman is about the same, I believe
give or take an inch

But given your age, you might still grow more.

@Mithrandir aren't you fairly young still?

7:41 PM
It's possible... although I really haven't grown in a while.

@ElizB One of my partners is shorter than you are! :-D

@TheTinyMan cool :)

I've got another friend who's 4'8 I think? She rode me into battle at LARP once! :-D (No, not like that, ya perverts!)

@TheTinyMan Does the size difference between you two cause any challenges?

@TheTinyMan To be honest, it's always only you that has those thoughts :P

7:47 PM
Not really. Certain acts involve slightly different angles than with other people, and I have to bend down to kiss her (and she tells me that she's sad that she can't spring a kiss to my cheek without warning me first xD) but that's about it.

My ex-wife was the same height that she is though, 5'2 (157 cm) so maybe I'm just already used to it.
@Tinkeringbell :o Are you suggesting that I am capable of impropriety, madam?

@Mithrandir My older brother only got his growth spurt at 18. There's still some hope ;)
@TheTinyMan I have evidence :P

@Tinkeringbell "Fabrications" you mean! My mind is as pure as the driven snow!
As innocent as...I dunno, something innocent, a unicorn or something!

driven snow? You mean sludge? :P

snow is actually pretty dirty

NOT IF IT IS PROPERLY DRIVEN! faux-huff

I don't...actually even know what "driven snow" means. I assume that's when you, like, scrape the top layer, and the bottom layer that remains is what's under discussion? :-p

I have no clue either, I usually speak Dutch :P
Though lately it may be said I've been chatting more in English than speaking out loud in Dutch, perhaps

it's the snow actually falling, in a strong wind, no?
wait, no, that's "driving"
> 'Driven snow' is snow that has blown into drifts and is untrodden and clean. Examples of the precise text 'as pure as [the] driven snow' aren't found in print until around the start of the 19th century. Nevertheless, we have to thank Shakespeare for this popular simile. The complete phrase 'as pure as the driven snow' doesn't appear in Shakespeare's writing, but it almost does, and he used snow as a symbol for purity and whiteness in several plays.

Ah, Shakespeare. Known for his proper use of English :P

7:54 PM
Ugh. Those capital letters :P

Title case. Or German.

Does the 'In' need a capital in that case?

probably not
but I wasn't spending too much brainpower on it

@Tinkeringbell I snort-laughed :-P

@TheTinyMan Mission accomplished? :P

7:59 PM
@Tinkeringbell Haha, yep!
