@JAD even then. Imagine swimming for a whole day save for some rest to eat and sleep. You wouldn't be able to keep that up for a week or more

When I was younger, I would participate in what was called a 'swimming-four-days' (translated literally). That was 500 meters (20 laps of 25 meters in clusters of 5) every evening, for four days. I would be quite done by that time :)

We had a thing where we would run rounds in the local stadium and people would sponsor us for "5€ per round" or something and then you'd run as many rounds as you can

@Magisch btw, it should be noted that he is an olympic champion long distance swimming. 200km is still a hell of a distance, but he's had training :P

I used to be able to do 2 rounds only in a row before I didn't want to anymore but for that date I forced myself into 8 much to the annoyance of the teacher that had pledged 25€ per round because she knew even if my grade depended on it I couldn't run more then 2

@Tinkeringbell You do. Which is why it's dangerous not to drink while swimming, because you don't notice you're getting dehydrated.

the water where he swam wasn't clean. The authorities warned against swimming along with him (some events were planned for a short stretch) because of the waterquality
