12:21 AM
@Catija Are you around?

Getting ready to drive home.

Had a more practical idea about enforcement, but I wasn't sure if it would be possible with the current set of mod tools.

Even if impossible, good ideas for improvements to mod tools are useful.

More or less was wondering how granular suspension reasons were. As in is there an actual difference in the system for suspensions by reason for suspension?
Thinking about suggesting that more serious R/A suspensions carry a network ban, rather than a per-site ban. A way to combat users drifting in with the association bonus, acting like crap, and not really caring if they get suspended on that site.

The only difference is which reason is shown on their profile. I think there's three? Maybe only two. I can think of "rule violations" and "to cool off". Which is assigned depends on which mod message template we use.

12:29 AM
Kinda suspected that may be the case.
But network bans are a thing, so I thought that could potentially solve some problems.

They won't go for a network ban. That's CM only and requires bad activity across multiple sites.

Ugh.

Back in 30.

Drive safe

12:49 AM
If they won't go for a network ban, what about sending anyone that site mods ban for R/A into a queue for the CMs to look at and determine if a network wide ban is needed?

@Rainbacon I suspect that the CMs would frown on additional work at the moment.

1:11 AM
CMs see all mod messages and suspensions. It's possible that they have something in place to see users' full-network profile status/history.

1:35 AM
Just seems like we could use an all for one and one for all mechanism, to remind people that they're still taking a dump in the community pool. Of course there's the individual sites, but SE is still in some ways one big community.

I definitely like the idea of having corrective measures apply network wide for people suspended for being abusive.

I think network-wide user annotations might be useful... and much more likely.

Q: Share annotations and suspension information network-wide for repeat offenders

Mad ScientistOne guiding principle in the moderation of SE sites is that users deserve a second chance. This means we avoid shaming them if they were suspended once, in the ideal case the user learns from the suspension and we never mention it again. I think this is a very reasonable guideline for the common...

Are those who are posting abusive comments getting site suspensions? I have to say that having every comment I post get deleted has turned me off the site. It's very much baby out with the bathwater at the moment IMO. I don't see how comments could be such an issue unless users weren't getting suspensions from them.
If users are getting suspensions and the problem is that the HNQ list is bringing in an uncontrollable number of trolls etc, has asking to be taken off the HNQ been considered?

Most of your deleted comments were deleted because they'd served their purpose. Why should those stick around?
If you're curious, out of 141 comments, only 40 or so have been deleted.

@Catija Those aren't the ones I'm thinking of
@Catija Oh, it's easy to overestimate how much has been deleted when you can't see them. Sorry for that

No worries. :) That's the problem with comments... many of us post them without really thinking about it, so it's difficult to know how many there are and there's no way to see which were deleted.
@curiousdannii Links to reddit aren't really helpful, either.

@Catija I was thinking of one recent one I think on this answer, or maybe another answer on the qn
But anyways, that doesn't matter, I just think I don't quite fit in the site culture.
But I was concerned seeing everyone else's concern on meta.

> And even if you do, you shouldn't care! – curiousdannii Apr 26 at 4:39

3:27 AM
@Catija More flippant than I remember! Definitely appropriate to delete

If there's really a problem/concern, we're happy to talk about it! Please don't hesitate to post on meta or ask in chat, though we may not be here.

I still think the site's comment policy is an overreaction, but it wouldn't be productive to argue that.

It's actually not a reaction. Robert started us on this path before we were even installed as moderators. Are you aware that we've removed over 16 thousand comments in 10 months?
Most sites don't have that many total comments in a year, let alone deleted ones.
... and those don't include comments deleted entirely by users, either self-deletions or flag deletions.

Right. Lots of comments. But that doesn't mean in the ideal world that a more typical comment policy wouldn't work at IPS. I wouldn't think it's the quantity of comments that's the issue, but people not buying in to the site's particular comment culture.
If you feel that 40 of my comments warrant manual mod deletion, then I'd expect to get a suspension from that.

The first thing I told you was that most of your comments were simply no longer needed... meaning they'd served the purpose of getting a post edited or were from a misunderstanding that was cleared up. They were clutter - not something to punish you for.
It's also worth noting that we have no sort of automatic flag for when users get too chatty in comments. We have to remember them... which is simply impossible with how many users we have. The only autoflag we get is for users who post 3 rude/abusive comments in 7 days that are flagged and deleted.
When you delete 1K comments per month, you're not looking at who posted them most of the time.

3:42 AM
@Catija Something like /admin/users but showing users with the most deleted comments could help. Then it would be possible to periodically review commentors to see if there are particular problem users.
but only if a substantially proportion were deleted for reasons other than being clutter
I gotta go, appreciate the chat. Good luck with the continuing flood of comments etc!

@ExtrovertedMainMan What are we suggested to do about the comment responding to an answer saying "thank you, can I send the letter with flowers?"
physically, sure. if OP is asking whether he should.. we don't really answer that and lastly I think that if the answer suggested sending flowers then they would have included it in the answer already

Shouldn't the "add a comment" line be "request clarification" when commenting on a question? Although I bet it's not possible using the current system.

@SQB It's already renamed to 'suggest improvements' on main, it's still 'add a comment' on meta
the hover text is still the old text, but Shog said we first get that button for 30 days and they'll do more work only if it works

SQB
Yeah, I voted up the proposal, but now I'm wondering who user288 used to be.

@SQB Hamlet, I think ;-)

Ah.

But if you think 'request clarification' might work even better than 'suggest improvements'... well.. ask ;-)

I've deleted this answer I gave since I think it (no longer, perhaps) is a good answer for this site. Am I correct in that assessment? Should I delete other answers (or questions) of mine as well, if I feel they are no longer a good fit for this stack?

@SQB Err.... It's nice, but not mandatory.
As for that answer, it was salvageable as in 'don't ask directly, instead, you could try something playful, it is much more likely to be perceived as a form of goodwill'?
But that kinda depends on whether you want to edit (and push that question to the frontpage again) or not
Deleting too much may be seen as a form of vandalism too I think (especially for questions, you should close them, not delete)

And cleaning up old stuff, while also important, takes a backseat to making sure all new stuff is up to scratch.

SQB
@Mithrandir Oh sure, but having such a bad answer sitting there with a score of 14, shows to new users that these kinds of answers are welcomed here.

Kinda relevant with cleaning up old answers. If its an accepted answer is there any issues with fundamentally changing its contents?

8:29 AM
@Jesse Not really, but let the OP know what you did and ask them whether they still believe it should be the accepted answer? How old is it, and what is 'fundamentally'?

perhaps it would instead be best to make a new answer if the change is drastic enough
if its still essentially the same I guess edits are fine. hmm

SQB
I think we could use a custom off-topic reason "ask how, don't ask what".
Has that been proposed on meta yet?

@Jesse Yeah, like I said, I'm kinda curious what answer we're talking about and what the edit is going to be ;-)

SQB
Can we even have a custom off-topic close reason? I know some customisation is possible, but I never remember what and where exactly.

Yep, three of 'em.

@SQB I don't think we've had that discussion, asides from the discussion on professional help...

@Jesse good.

8:33 AM
@SQB No? We like people to improve their questions, not rage-quit on them? :P

SQB
That's true. However, I don't think this one was salvageable.

@SQB It could easily be changed into 'how should I apologise' :P Although I don't like those questions a lot, they're still on-topic ;-)

SQB
@Tinkeringbell It could be, but that would be a different question. And perhaps not one the querant would ever seek an answer to.

@SQB True, true... ;-) I've been there, seen that... But there wouldn't be any harm in asking ;-) I usually frame it as 'we can help you how to apologise, and if you're not satisfied with any of it, you don't have to'

What do people think of that one? I'll read the question now
I often see questions which boils down to some kind of "how to talk/ask about touchy subjects ?" those questions are pretty straigthforward on my part but this one feels weird.
Maybe because of the pretty broad question in the end. Narrowing it down would probably help.

@Loki I've put it on-hold as too broad, there's several things there that need refining for it to be a good question :) Thanks for thinking with me! :D

@aparente001 What are you trying to do?

@aparente001 When I wanted to make a new tag here the consensus seemed to be pretty much what you're suggesting, just make it and incrementally add to questions (interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/2626/…)

Is there a batch of questions on this site that you'd like to add some sort of tag to?

Sid
@ExtrovertedMainMan easy way is to just ask the girl, "Are you married?"

@Sid - The way I generally hear this asked in the US is "Are you attached?"

@aparente001 who on earth do you hear this from?

@EmC - Thanks but I'd really appreciate it if you IPS experts would discuss and contribute on that page rather than here. Also
@Tinkeringbell, same. If you could both post your comments there, I can clarify. Em C-- this is tantalizingly close to helpful guidance. I'm not sure how long to wait before starting a small batch of tag assigning.

2:44 PM
@aparente001 I'm curious as to why you are specifically seeking the input of IPS users when your question deals with a tag on Academia.SE?

@Jesse - I am in the US, if that's what you're asking.

@aparente001 well, my answer would be pretty much identical to ChrisF's, I'm not sure what I could add to that

@Rainbacon - Because you guys have particular expertise, or at least interest, in IPS, and when I have gotten the timing wrong, it has caused IPS problems.

@aparente001 And I would be quite shocked if "attached" was the most common way of putting it

@Jesse - This is an intriguing question. I will post it at ELU. Let's see if I can keep it open long enough to get a useful answer.

2:46 PM
"Are you seeing anyone?" is what I've heard most for my generation, "Are you single" when I was a bit younger and "Are you married?" if you are confident enough to risk the rudeness when they aren't

@aparente001 So, you're planning to do some tag assigning on IPS? Better to just answer 'which questions do you think of editing' here in chat, or post a proposal on IPS meta. It's really weird to go discussing the tagging of IPS questions on main meta

@Jesse - Granted, asking directly might be less common than asking a mutual acquaintance, e.g. "Do you know if X is attached?" or "Do you know if X is unattached?" Also "Do you know if X is available?"
@Tinkeringbell - This has nothing directly to do with IPS. My participation at IPS isn't extensive enough to try to delve into tag housekeeping.

@aparente001 Then why are you saying I should comment on your meta question, asking you which IPS questions you'd like to retag? :/

The reason I asked at Main Meta is, I asked another best practices question there and got extremely useful answers.
@Tinkeringbell - This has nothing to do with IPS questions. Here, let me try again to clarify. I'm casting around for more participation in my SE Meta question because you guys have particular expertise, or at least interest, in IPS, and when I have gotten the timing wrong, it has caused IPS problems.
Oh, and another reason I posted at SE Meta: Catija once gave me some great advice -- that I can learn more about SE best practices by reading and asking at SE Meta.

If I'm reading your comments there correctly, I think the issue with asking on main about this is that when to add to questions really depends on the traffic of the particular site you're creating the tags on

2:54 PM
@EmC - "well, my answer would be pretty much identical to ChrisF's, I'm not sure what I could add to that" - How long would you wait? I tried the following: (1) Create the tag by adding it to a recent question where the new tag fit well, after identifying for myself at least four other questions where it would fit well, and after satisfying myself that it would help participants find what they're looking for; (2)
... (2) waited a bit before adding the tag to a first small batch. Result: bafflement and scolding for creating a one-question tag. But note, I was waiting because I was afraid that jumping in with the first batch might irritate some.
@EmC - I do get that if the answer is to build in a buffer, a waiting period before adding the tag to the first batch, then one would have to take into account the level of traffic in determining how long to wait. Also, traffic would affect size of batch. I do get that.

@aparente001 ah, yeah I could see why only adding to one question would confuse people
I would definitely start with > 1 so that people can see it is useful beyond just the first question. But I guess if you are concerned it is always best to ask first on the site's meta.

3:17 PM
@EmC - >1 is helpful. Can you suggest an upper bound? Small Beta site with a loyal central cadre of participants and some slightly more irregular but also dedicated people around that central nucleus.

I'll make a suggestion - stop trying to make network-wide rules for something that's site-specific. Let the site decide for themselves.
@aparente001 No. I didn't tell you that. And if that's what you took from it, you weren't listening. Every time I turn around on MSE I see you looking like you're trying to get around the mods on the sites you use because they're not sufficiently responsive to your concerns. That's not a reason to go to MSE.

@aparente001 ^ if you're looking for a site-specific recommendation, ask on that site's meta.

I think this answer may work for other similar situations, so you have my upvote, but for me "My sister accidentally scratched me" prompted a whole slew of follow ups along the lines of "how could she do that on accident?!" which resulted in me telling the full story again anyways. — scohe001 58 secs ago

I agree with about 99% of the answer, however in the case of conflict it is important that you do not assume another party will respond rationally (or safely!) to any form of conflict. I'd almost say especially if some Liam Neeson looking guy is pushing the conflict. Even the most, um, unlikely looking people can have a rather prophylactic view of self defense. Throw a threat in proximity to their kids, and already being stressed, and the outcome could be explosive. Unlikely? Yes, especially if handled well. If handled poorly, or directed at someone in the wrong state of mind... — kleineg 54 secs ago

Q: How to deal with intimidating people?

Rumble down[m/17] My parents recently got me a personal tutor for my exams who is maybe in his late 20s. I had the first class recently, which was three hours long. 5:07 PM
I could use a second opinion on a question I'm working on
The question as I have it written out right now is "How can I open lines of communication in a way that she will feel comfortable talking to me about such a sensitive topic?"
For context, my girlfriend gets embarrassed by certain levels of physical intimacy, but is uncomfortable talking to me about her embarrassment

I... can see that hitting HNQ. Try to find a title that won't attract too much unwanted attention :)

My initial thought for a title is "How can I get my girlfriend to open up to me", which would definitely attract a lot of attention

uhhh yeah maybe not

What about "How can I approach my girlfriend about a topic she's sensitive about?" I feel like "open up to me" might be a little broad.

"How can I encourage discussion of sensitive topics with my girlfriend?"

5:13 PM
@ArtOfCode Is HNQ a bad thing??

I like those ideas
@scohe001 HNQ often leads to low quality posts and ridiculous comments

HNQ isn't exactly about title attention anyways; the votes are enough get it there, and once it's there, honestly, "girlfriend" is probably enough to get people to click anyways.

@scohe001 Depends who you ask. I find it idly interesting, personally, but it does also bring questions a lot of outside attention and voting from people who aren't familiar with the site.

Hmm I've always figured if you ignore the outside influences it just means more of the IPS community is likely to see it

@scohe001 We've also had a lot of issues with unneeded comments lately, and people coming in from HNQ will have the rep to comment, but may not be familiar with our stricter comment policies

5:15 PM
But I can see how random comments/low quality answers could be annoying

Answers in comments, snarky comments, pointless quips, endless upvotes

That last doesn't sound all too bad :)

Because the sensitive topic is physical intimacy, it's likely that there could be rude comments about the fact that she is more conservative in that area and things of that sort

Wow I really had no idea this was a thing
I guess that's a testament to our mods

When I first began to put the question together, it sounded very much like a "how to get someone to do something" question which could be closed as off topic

5:18 PM
Even with all the valiant efforts of the mods, it's still often really obvious on HNQs for some amount of time.
It's also possibly gotten better since the experimental UI changes.
(knock on wood)

Maybe I just haven't been around long enough then...

I'm more concerned with making sure that my question is worded appropriately to be on topic than with keeping it from pulling bad posts (those can be dealt with via flags)

I think if you focus on the "how to have this conversation" like it sounds like you are you should be fine

5:51 PM
@Rainbacon In the past I've been told to try to make the title fit the body. It's helped me to write the body first, read the body a couple times, and then formulate the title.

Why is the IPS Comment Bot a member of the Computer Science Educators SE??

Because the person who created it is a mod there.

Wow...

@apaul Yeah, I've got the whole thing written out and I think I'm going to go with the title that ArtOfCode suggested
@apaul There was also a suggested edit to change the question to the offensive comment. Could use a few more declines in the review queue

@Rainbacon Seems like it's handled :) Thanks :D

5:58 PM
Anywho... @Catija if you mentioned the conversation from last night to someone higher up, it looks like it worked. Thanks.

Well, I've posted my question. I'm happy to continue taking feedback on it.

@apaul I didn't. But he's been pestering Shog on MSE for the last day... among other things.

Ah...
@Rainbacon I'm assuming that the religious component is "no premarital sex"?

@apaul Technically it's "nothing below the waist", but basically yes

@Rainbacon Being a little more specific about that may be pertinent. Also consider adding age and cultural background.
Cultural background, as in what sort of religion, or culture, you two are approaching things from. United States tells us location, but doesn't say much about the culture.

RainbaconBackground I have been dating my girlfriend for about three months. We are both in our mid 20s, grew up in the mid-western United States, and now live in New York City. She has defined boundaries for physical intimacy (i.e. waiting until marriage to have sex) in our relationship based on her rel...

@Catija - "I didn't tell you that." Sorry I misunderstood. What were you trying to convey, then? // "And if that's what you took from it, you weren't listening. Every time I turn around on MSE I see you looking like you're trying to get around the mods on the sites you use because they're not sufficiently responsive to your concerns. That's not a reason to go to MSE." I wanted to get general guidance, beyond a specific site. I think that if I ...
... start with a good general understanding of SE functioning, and what has worked well for others, then that will give me a good starting point for having a productive conversation in a specific site's Meta.
In the case of meta.stackexchange.com/q/309032/287826 I got two answers that were quite helpful.

Yeah but what you were doing was asking people from a specific site (IPS) give guidance on main meta about what would be best behavior on IPS. That's not how it works. If you think your post got too little attention, place a bounty on it, or ask in the chatroom for main meta (I believe it's called Tavern or something?) for more input.

If you make a meta on IPS, that's when there can be discussion about guidelines here on IPS. And they may very well differ from main meta, if we can come up with convincing arguments that aren't competely out of line with how SE is supposed to work.

@Tinkeringbell this message is so awesome. Too awesome
You've broken the balance of awesomeness in the universe. Happy now?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Meh... I've forgotten to mention that that message applies to how things are done at IPS, and YMMV on other sites? :P Maybe other sites do want a main meta rule for everything first ;)

Hello @Tinkeringbell. You wrote that I was asking people from IPS to give guidance on main Meta about "what would be best behavior on IPS." That was a misunderstanding. That was not what I was attempting to do.
I will explain but I am not always the world's fastest typist, so please bear with me.
I have frequently seen the situation in which something comes up at Site A. Perhaps a question gets closed as being off topic. Or perhaps the question didn't get enough attention. Those are examples -- not intended to be an exhaustive list. ...
... The point is that I have seen Participant X comment something like, "Perhaps go to Chat at Site B," for example to ask the people participating at Site B to go take a look at the question posted at Site A.

@Tinkeringbell that would still be site preference, duh

That's what I was attempting to do when I wrote a comment here at IPS about an SE Meta question.

Bummer. I only interrupt people at The Periodic Table

7:15 PM
@aparente001 The only valid reason I'd can imagine for that, if when a question is off-topic on A but might be migrated to B.

I chose IPS because I had the impression there are friendly, helpful people at IPS, who have thought quite a bit about what works well, what doesn't work well.
Okay, I think I finished typing. Thanks for waiting.

So, is this about a deleted comment, or?

@Tinkeringbell - Well, your opinion is quite different from what I have seen elsewhere. All I can do is apologize for bothering the people at IPS with the comment I posted here, and ...

@Rainbacon psst I just commented on your Q, if you would rather talk here I'm lurking :) I have strong feelings about this subject which may be better kept off main anyhow.. (not to interrupt everyone else, lol)

... make sure I stay as far away from your "Awkward Silence" chat room as possible in future. Your reaction has not only been unfair, in my opinion, but it was also hurtful.
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - Was that question about my dialog with Tinkeringbell? If so -- no.

7:18 PM
@aparente001 Maybe I should hang out around other rooms more often then, but until then: At least here we prefer people to take chatting about question on a specific site to that site's chatroom, since it's lead to enough drama here otherwise.

Whoa whoa whoa, what's going on?

@Tinkeringbell - I specifically requested that people take their comments about my SE Meta question to that page rather than discussing it here.

You're not the first one to get told this, we've had to tell other people this as well. It's not a personal attack, just an explanation of how things are done around here.

@Tinkeringbell - I hope a more tactful, polite, respectful way was found when giving that message to others.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Not much, if you ask me we can just drop this now.

7:20 PM
Here is how I took it: "Stay off my grass. Do not touch a single blade. Do not sniff it, and do not even glance at it."

Yeah they told me too. This chat is more restrictive, probably in light of recent drama, and it has all the rights to be. CC @aparente001
Yay, autocrat didn't annoy me for one message

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - I don't know anything about any recent drama. All I know is that initially when I posted my comment here earlier today, I did not receive a response saying, ...
... "Hi aparente, maybe you didn't know this, but our Chat room has some special rules, as follows:"

@aparente001 the message got flagged?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - Not that I am aware.
But if it had been flagged, how would I have become aware of that?

@EmC I've answered your questions on the post. I'd certainly be interested in hearing your opinions on the subject, and chat is a better place for that than the comments section of my post

7:23 PM
@aparente001 So not a big deal then
@aparente001 if it was flagged and removed, you would've been suspended in chat

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - Well, for me, the way Tinkeringbell has been communicating to me has been unfriendly enough for me to avoid this place like the plague.
So yes, for me, it was a big deal.

In my experience, if you're a regular in that room, suddenly bringing up an irrelevant subject isn't weird

@Rainbacon I just saw, thanks :) gathering my thoughts..

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - I don't understand. I'm not a regular here; and I don't understand what you mean by weird.

But if you're not, if you post your message, the best response you'd get is "sorry, X.SE chat is this way"

7:26 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ - My point is that I did not get such a response initially.

Well, I don't know what response you got, but I guess we should move on. @Tinker always means well, and is nicer than I'd ever be
So this is nothing more than a misunderstanding

@aparente001 Sorry if you felt unwelcome. Everyone is welcome to join and participate in constructive discussion. But one thing to remember is that disagreement does not equal rudeness.

@Mithrandir I rudely disagree

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ You're an unstable chemical compound though. ;)

SE probably changed this thing in chat's source code and my tablet is annoyingly slow when I open 5 chats
Curse you SE. When are you going to be inclusive?
@Mithrandir ur face iz unstable

7:31 PM
@Mithrandir - Thank you for the friendly comment.
If anyone wants to know, apparently I committed a major sin by writing: "Hello everyone -- would really appreciate some guidance regarding tag housekeeping: meta.stackexchange.com/q/309345/287826"

So, is reactive the same as unstable?

@Rainbacon so I was raised in a very conservative religion - like the girls went to "purity camp" when we were young teens to learn about how boys only want one thing, but girls aren't supposed to think about that, let alone talk about it... so your gf's reactions sound very familiar.. but am I projecting too much?

Mmmmkay. As someone who hasn't been involved in this discussion... all y'all need to take a step back. @aparente001's reception here has been a little frosty, and could have been handled better. At the same time, @aparente001, I believe the point Tinkeringbell is trying to make is that if you have a question/concern/clarification to make about an IPS matter, post on IPS meta not SE meta.
(Correct me if I'm wrong, @Tinkeringbell)
(Corollary: If there's overlap, and your question/concern/clarification could be applicable just to IPS or to the network as a whole... it really doesn't matter where you post it.)

@ArtOfCode - I'll try yet again to clarify. My question on SE Meta had nothing whatsoever to do with IPS as a site. Prior to today, my impression was that IPS was frequented by a number of people who had good ideas and I wanted to pick those people's brains, that is, ...

@EmC No, you aren't projecting at all. That sounds pretty accurate (I mentioned I was raised in the same religion, my sister didn't kiss anyone until she was married)

7:34 PM
... I wanted to invite IPS participants to go to my SE Meta question and contribute helpfully there, via comments, answers, etc.

@EmC yeah, I just want ice cream in this life

@aparente001 Lemme get straight what actually happened. I guess you posted a thing on MSE (got a link?). Was that looking for a response tailored to IPS or the network viewpoint overall?

@aparente001 No, that's chem. That's obviously chem.
Chemists have the best ideas
So, basically, what you did is certainly not what people shouldn't do, but what they just don't do @aparente001. So the bizarrely cold response is people not knowing how to react? I dunno, I'm still missing context

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ -- Thanks for asking. I will try to clarify. But first -- what is "chem"?
Oh, I see...
You're saying that Chem SE would be a place with savvy participants.

@aparente001 chemistry.SE . . . I'm just fooling around. It's my main site

7:40 PM
@Rainbacon ahh okay, I may try to write an answer then :)

And it's certainly more awesome than IPS. It's very awesome

Okay, back to the explanation. As I originally wrote, and repeated again a few minutes ago: "Hello everyone -- would really appreciate some guidance regarding tag housekeeping: meta.stackexchange.com/q/309345/287826" Please note that does include a link.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I left the religion a few years back and now I eat ice cream all the time!! >:) (... or maybe that's more correlated with moving out and being responsible for my own groceries... haha)

@EmC I hope you do. I think your perspective is quite valuable for this issue

Tinkeringbell behaved, in my opinion, extremely aggressively. If I go on a hike in an area where dogs are supposed to be on leash, and someone is hiking with a dog off leash, and that dog jumps on me, and the owner does nothing to control the dog, what I learn is not to go back to that park. And it wasn't just Tinkeringbell. Catija stopped by to add...

Sid
7:43 PM
@EmC "Eat ice cream all the time" - That's never good for your health.

... her two cents and they were also hurtful. Funny, because she and I had a productive chat a few months ago that I found helpful at the time.

@EmC 😯 are you implying ice cream is evil? Darth Vader nooooooooo
@Sid yes it is
I always eat ice cream, and I always feel good.

@Sid but what about my mental health :P

Well, I'm a dialysis patient, but that's besides the point
@EmC only if you don't get brainfreeze
Ice cream is life. Ice cream is love.
2
And a very good trilogy

Sid
Huh, for people living in Cold regions, I don't understand why they would need ice-creams.

7:49 PM
@Sid I eat ice cream in winter too

@Sid because it's delicious :D

Gotta love these mood swings. I wonder if I'm bipolar or just going through more stress than any human should

my family makes ice cream using the icicles off our roof in the winter

@EmC up high, sir

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ o/

7:51 PM
@RichardU is it an especially down time in your life?
@EmC ლo

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ well, I haven't attempted suicide, so not the worst by that reckoning.
give me time though.
Yeah, on a scale of 1-10, my stress is hovering at about 2000

@RichardU I'm saying because 2017 was undeniably the suckiest year of my life
And I had lots of mod swings and stuff then

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ yeah, I lost my brother in 2017
the worst year was 1987 when I lost my grandfather, then my grandmother, then my cousin, then my other grandfather.

@RichardU :(

I haven't slept through the night in 31 years

7:58 PM
My belated condolences

thanks

Think about good things. Like ice cream

@RichardU 1-800-273-8255, if it really is that bad.

at least I'm keeping my sense of humor
@ArtOfCode thank you, but it is not that bad yet, and I have professionals I can call who are helping me.
I am not, repeat NOT suicidal
I refuse to give my enemies that satisfaction.
:D

@RichardU So, it's just a bit of sarcasm? Then please refrain from doing so, it worries us :)
